The principle is always and everywhere the same: in Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to Islamic sensibilities. And in non-Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to Islamic sensibilities.
“Four bottles of wine,” translated from “Quatre bouteilles de vin,” by Patrick Lagacé, La Presse, February 9, 2020 (thanks to Gates of Vienna):
It was December 7. Suzanne A. was delighted to introduce her family to this wonderful little restaurant. She had been there ten times. As a family, it was going to be the first time. For Danielle, her little sister’s party, it was perfect.
There were eight of them that afternoon: his brothers and sisters and their respective spouses.
Because the restaurant is a “bring your own wine” establishment, they also had four bottles of wine.
It was also a “bring your cake” that day: when Suzanne had made the reservation two weeks earlier, the owner had agreed that they would bring a cake for Danielle’s party.
Suzanne is therefore among the first to arrive. It’s the owner’s wife who welcomes them. She recognizes the owner, who is mopping the floor.
The guests arrive little by little. The bottles should be opened, someone says, at the table …
The owner’s wife, who is wearing a hijab, opens the bottles. But she warns the group: at half past twelve, I will have to remove the bottles and glasses …
Consternation in Suzanne’s table: take away the wine, but why?
Explanations from the owner’s wife: there is a group that made a reservation, very religious Muslims, they do not want there to be wine in the restaurant …
“She was nervous, she felt bad,” recalls Suzanne.
The group rebelled, there was no question of accepting such a diktat. They tried to parley (without success), to have explanations from the owner (unavailable, dixit his wife) and to offer compromises (depositing the bottles on the ground), nothing helped.
Jean-Pierre A.: “I saw the table, the table of the other group. She was in another section, far from ours. They wouldn’t have seen us, where they were from … ”
Suzanne A.: “The discussion with the owner’s wife was taking place when the table was empty, the group had not arrived. I offered to go see them when they arrived to explain that they wouldn’t see the alcohol, where they were from. The woman said if they knew there was alcohol in the restaurant, they would not go in there … ”
Nothing to do, therefore.
The Suzanne A. clan finally left, right after the soup they didn’t have to pay for. No question of making this absurd compromise.
They went to celebrate Danielle’s 71st birthday in an Italian restaurant nearby….

Wilfred says
This is utter non sense. Would they start taking away non vegetarian food if a group of vegitarians arrive at a non veg joint. This sounds absurd. Tomorrow they might say that you’ll have to stop displaying wine & liquor at liquor shops because it hurts their religious sensibilities. Or imagine a group of veg hindus that say you might have to stop eating meat because it hurts their religious beliefs. This is taking things too far. They can go to to a country that adheres to their religious beliefs, that all. There’s a limit on forcing your views in a multicultural society.
keith says
A place that adheres to their religious beliefs?
Yeah, it’s in the outer suburbs of hell.
I know what my response to the situation would have been, and it wouldn’t have involved ass kissing.
Dan says
Actually, the situation isn’t quite clear.
The owner’s wife was wearing a hijab, so is she muslim?
If she is muslim, then she’s a hypocrite because she allowed alcohol before.
If she’s not muslim, then is she just wearing the hijab because the muslim customers whined about improper dress, saying they wouldn’t make reservations if the staff were improperly dressed?
In that case, the owners could have told Suzanne there was a private party when she made a reservation, and the place was closed to the public for the night.
Or if Suzanne made the reservation first, the owners should have told the muslims they could not be accommodated that night.
Instead, the owners chose to dhimmi themselves.
gravenimage says
It sounds as though the owners are Muslim, and were only willing to accommodate their Infidel patron as long as observant Muslims were not present.
Eur says
I know many Moroccans who drink beer but only if there is no other Muslim nearby. They recriminate among them such acts (drinking alcohol, eating ham, not going to the mosque …), even those who drink beer if they see another Muslim doing the same thing they do, is incredible. They are that way, there is no individual freedom, they do not need the inquisition because they are all inquisitors. It is ridiculous to see an adult person hide that he is drinking a beer but they do it continuously, the group pressure is brutal.
In this case, the bar’s family was preventing other Muslims from knowing that wine is allowed in a restaurant run by Muslims. They were not only trying not to offend the religious sensibility of that other family but were protecting their image of good Muslims. As more Muslims are settling in that city, less orthodox Muslims will disappear.
Terry Gain says
They are going to keep coming – and imposing their totalitarian ideology – as long as we are stupid enough to let them in. I will never patronize a Muslim business.
gravenimage says
Agreed, Terry. At first I thought these were dhimmi restaurant owners, but you are right that they are Muslims.
SKA says
Actually they are “Munafiq” – fair-weather Muslims who have no problem with kaffirs drinking wine on the premises but who shudder with fear when their co- religionists can monitor their business. They are not sincere friends to anyone.

100% true, and thanks for pointing this out to all Jihad Watch readers.
Leftism and islam work together synergistically – with deleterious effects greater than the sum of the two…
Jayme says
Pierre did deal with the FLQ crisis so i give him credit for that.
Sun says
You are right, Wellington. I dearly hope that the US will resist.
The Leftism is supported by countless NGO’s with tons of money. The EU and many ‘liberal’ European countries have very close bonds with Mr. Soros. They slowly seem to drift into socalism.
Like I mentioned in a former post, the EU project “At Home in Europe (Muslims in Europe)” was made and partially financed by the Soro’s Open Society Foundation. The former German senator from the left party “DIE LINKE” was responsible for this EU project. This is only one example of many that demonstrates how powerful Leftism is influencing our Western world these days. In Germany, the ‘Antifa’ is openly supported by the government, behind closed doors they are called ‘Merkel Youth”.
It’s devastating.

I agree with one of the earlier people that said they would never go to eat in a restaurant owned by moslems. The people that do choose to continue going to these restaurants might want to ask if they are serving halal foods. As a Christian our Bible tells us to Not eat this. I was invited to meet a person at a small restaurant years ago. She said the place did not have a wine list and she thought it would be OK for me to bring a bottle of wine. When I arrived and walked in the door, I was greeted by a large man that came rushing to me and told me I could Not enter with the bottle. He was not even a little nice about it. It was if I was bringing the most evil thing imaginable. I decided to take the bottle to my vehicle and join my friend but I certainly never went back. My friend said she saw a different side of the business and she said she would never return.
Spiro says
Exactly Halal meat is approved by an iman ( I think I got that right) but anyway it’s sacrificed to a false God
Therefore not to be eaten by Christians
Besides that why patronize

oldschool says
If you want wine with a meal why on earth would you choose to go to a restaurant where you had to bring your own in the first place? It just seems to lack any class.
An Italian restaurant is always a far better choice than anything run by a Muslim. You are certain to get halal stuff there, and if you are in England you might get something you didn’t bargain for – maybe a young English girl dressed as a kebab.
I do wish that this article mentioned the name of the restaurant. I’m sure a lot of. people would want to avoid it
Marbou says
Plenty of restaurants in Québec are BYOB (Bring your own booze). That way the owner doesn’t have to pay for an alcohol license and put up with all the government regulations. If the owner doesn’t want alcohol in his restaurant, all he has to do is tell the clients.

True, Marbou–many small restaurants all over the West do this. Not every eatery that is BYOB is like this.

PRCS says
The restaurateurs are the problem here.
It was their business decision to make, and they chose poorly.
If Suzanne A. had reserved first, they should have denied the Muslim party’s reservation request for a wine free restaurant.
If the Muslim group reserved first, they should have asked Suzzane A.–while making her reservation–if the ‘no wine request’ would be acceptable to them. If it wouldn’t be, they should have denied her reservation request.
Suzanne A. should post this nonsense on YELP.
mortimer says
Agree with PRCS: make a polite public complaint. Agree with Hugh: post the name of the restaurant here.
The restaurant should post a warning on the outside that they don’t permit alcohol.

Quebec’s francophone society is very closed to outsiders. It is suspect that so many unassimilatable foreigners are being brought into Quebec so rapidly. There is something strange going on at the top among their leadership who are in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood. It appears that massive bribery of Quebec’s politicians is going on. Quebeckers do not seem to be aware of what is happening. Their minds are in an inexplicable mass delusion that all-is-well… nothing-to-see-here … move along. Their governments are undertaking the biggest transformation of Quebec since 1761 … the Islamization of Quebec by the Muslim Brotherhood’s front groups.
gravenimage says
Unfortunately, some foolish Francophones applaud this, thinking it will give them a leg up on the rest of Canada votes-wise They appear to have no idea what a threat this is in the case of ravening Muslims.
Marbou says
Very few francophones applaud this. The media (both English and French), always for the sake of political correctness, work hard to find some POM’s (perpetually offended morons) who agree with the muslim hordes in order to liven up their newscast and distort facts.
These are the people who agree with Justin “no balls” Trudeau and who think Canada should kneel down in front of muslim extremists let into Canada and bend over to 2 dozen Indians blocking the tracks near Belleville.

Vicky says
If they sue, they will win. But it’s what comes after that isn’t desirable. The Muslim community would know their names and where they live. Don’t forget that an attack on one is an attack on all of them.
