Doubtless all those who expressed concern about this were denounced as racist, bigoted “Islamophobes.” It’s the British — and American — way.
“Streatham terrorist ‘in MI5’s top five’ was freed halfway through sentence without being assessed by Parole Board even though he ‘still held extremist views’ – a month after PM vowed crackdown on releasing jihadis,” by Danyal Hussain and Henry Martin, Mailonline, February 7, 2020:
Streatham terrorist Sudesh Amman was freed from jail after serving just half his sentence even though he ‘still held extremist views’ – after Boris Johnson vowed to bring in stronger anti-terror measures following the last terror attack in the capital.
The 20-year-old extremist was shot dead by officers in Streatham, South London – a mile from his bail hostel – on Sunday afternoon at about 2pm after he went on a horrific rampage, stabbing two people.
Amman had been jailed for three years and four months in December 2018, when he pleaded guilty to 13 counts including possessing bomb-making manuals and knife-fighting guides, but he was automatically released just days ago, halfway through his sentence, despite fears he still held extremist views.
Police had kept Amman, who was released on licence and subject to a curfew, under active surveillance. A source said concerns about his behaviour while in prison included language that implied he still held ‘extremist views’….

Again, if he was a white male, they would not have released him. Utterly disgusting.
mortimer says
The parole board members were naïve Pollyannas who were virtue-signalling with their political correctness. The board members place political correctness above the public’s right to safety.
The principle is simple: if Muslims have doubts that the Koran is of divine origin, then they lose the strong conviction to be a jihadist. Incarcerated Muslims should be taught the textual problems of Islam before release.

sure what could possibly go wrong; OOPS it did!!!
James says
It should be assumed that religious fanatics will not change and should not be released like he was.

+1. Isnt it time now for first-world penologists to recognise that the jihadi is no normal criminal and cannot be managed with the same techniques that work with ordinary thugs? After a millennium and a half of jihad, isnt it time for a discipline based specifically on this sort of criminal with his distinctive motivations and behaviours? And why are jihadis allowed to mix with the general population and infect other convicts? And isnt it tie for America and France and Australia and Germany to create and deploy experts in this new discipline? >
Janette Wells says
There is Danish psychologist who has done a lot of work with incarcerated Muslim prisoners. He talks a lot of sense and has a head- start on understanding the mind and motivation of the Jihadi. Help! Can’t remeber his name. Can anybody name him?

Jannette, I believe you are referring to Nicolai Sennels. His excellent work has often been covered here.

Spot on, James and elee.

Personally I feel that terrorism should be a “throw away the key” offence. Apparently the “cure” rate is about the same as for pedophiles.

An outdoor cage in the Arctic would be appropriate. For humanitarian considerations, prisoners like him should be given a light sweater
James Lincoln says
Rarely,
That is a correct analysis, my compliments.
gravenimage says
True, Rarely. I would make an exception if the terrorist can be deported after serving their sentence.
Ray Jarman says
I totally agree with the final outcome even if the idiots on the parole board were too lazy to look at his file. The actions of the bobby prevented any recidivism. I wish that all western nations would reimpose capital punishment as it is the only sure way to prevent future deaths from subhuman scum and especially these Islamic myxomycetous paedomorphic Muslims that the left cherishes so dearly.
Chistopher Watson says
Much as we appreciate the “kill the swine” and the “throw away the key” cries we all know that is not going to happen. All western governments, left and right, contain those ministers who follow the Common Purpose ideal. For all Johnson’s promises he will never really get tough. The next killer will also be found to be an early released jihadi. This ‘war’ will continue for a lifetime, well beyond mine. We will not win. The world in 2210 will be a very different place.
Mikep2 says
The truth hurts. We can’t win against an enemy that we’re not allowed to identify.
James Lincoln says
Chistopher Watson says,
“The world in 2210 will be a very different place.”
That is true, however, major changes will be happening much sooner.
Check out the statistics from the Pew Research Center regarding various muslim migration scenarios in Europe that project out to 2050.
Absolutely shocking…

Chistopher, you can preach surrender here if you want–but many of us do *not* plan on giving up yet.
Michael Copeland says
The vocabulary is inadequate, and nourishes erroneous impressions.
Saying “he ‘still held extremist views’ ” wrongly suggests (by “still”) that these “views” could be changed. Alas, the press are fond of their labels, and very reluctant to change them.
Firstly, they are not “views”, namely subjective assessments (allegedly “misunderstood”) by the individual. They are TEACHINGS. The muslim individual is not permitted to have individual views. For matters in the scriptures “the only power the muslim community has is to acknowledge and obey”, decrees Dr. Salwah al Sawy of the Assembly of Muslim Jurists in America.
What authorities describe as “extremism”, the adoption of violent means to attain the political end, is no less than what Islam INSTRUCTS: it is basic doctrine. The individual muslim is NOT PERMITTED to hold a different “view”.

That Muslim who engaged in the vicious violence against the British people by stabbing them was following the instructions for Muslim found in the Qu ‘ran .Which instructs Sura 9123. “O you who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you, and let them find harshness in you…”
Knifing people who aren’t Muslims is a very effective way of showing them harshness.
Nevertheless, in spite of all the fact of reality, some people still call Islam a “Nonviolent religion”
Those who that that complexly false claim might be wearing their “religious blinders” or they do know the truth and willingly lie.

UK officials were warned in December 2018 not to free Sudesh Amman, they did anyway and he went on stabbing spree

What insanity is *this*? But, sadly, it does not surprise.

Will the people who sanctioned his early release face any consequences ? Think I know the answer to that already!

Re: “Doubtless all those who expressed concern about this were denounced as racist, bigoted “Islamophobes.” It’s the British — and American — way.”
Because it’s far easier to virtue-signal one’s useless but risk-free, static, and ultimately fear-based PITY for “victims,” than it is to usefully risk one’s life employing dynamic, ultimately hope-based ANGER against criminals for their intentional attacks on innocent other people.
OLD GUY says
At least he will not be coming back again. Early release of prisoners should only relate to NON VIOLENT crimes. Rape, murder, armed robbery, kid napping, etc. should never be early released.
A terrorist is an enemy combatant who in most cases is from another country, or a traitor to his or her homeland. Anyone can make a mistake or bad decision that they regret. But some decisions and mistakes such as being a terrorist carry a higher degree of danger to the community and therefore require a higher level of punishment. Release of terrorist is always a risk, as most of these individuals are not going to change their ideology or hate for their enemy.
