French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said: “My thoughts are with our two injured police officers who were employed to protect us. We salute the coolness of the municipal police officers who came to their aid and arrested the accused. The investigation that is beginning will shed light on his motivations.”
Well, that’s good, because they’re a total mystery now. Why would a “pro-Palestinian activist” who has sworn allegiance to the Islamic State want to kill French policemen? Shouldn’t he have been inside, scrupulously observing the coronavirus quarantine and studying his famously peaceful holy book?
Willfully ignorant officials such as Castaner will be the death of the West.

Authorities in Paris on Monday evening arrested a radical Islamic extremist who rammed two police motorcyclists with his vehicle.
The attack, which was carried out by 29-year-old Youssef T., took place in the northern Paris suburb of Hauts-de-Seine and left one of the police officers gravely injured, according to a report from French newspaper Le Parisien.
The attacker is said to be a pro-Palestinian activist who hasworn [sic] allegiance to the Islamic State. At the time of the attack, the two police officers, Benjamin F. and Antoine D., were conducting routine checks related to coronavirus measures. As a result of the attack, Benjamin F. suffered multiple fractures, head trauma, and had to be placed in medically induced coma so his injuries could be treated, while Antoine D. suffered injuries to his legs and pelvis.
According to the French newspaper, Youssef T. had previously been known to police for violent crimes that he had committed in 2010. However, for some reason, he wasn’t known to French security serves.
A spokesman for the Synergie police union said: “The perpetrator apparently has terrorist motivations which remains to be confirmed.”
Apparently, before he was taken into police custody for interrogation, the attacker mentioned to police that he wanted to take revenge after watching videos about Gaza and Palestine. He is also said to have referred to the Islamic State, mentioning that he had sworn allegiance to the group. “I did it for ISIS,” he told police.
