For the League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, obedience to Sharia comes first, before all things, even if people are endangered as a result. This also would presumably apply to the directives to wage war against and subjugate unbelievers.
“Why we asked Muslims to avoid alcohol-based sanitisers – Imams,” by Simon Utebor, Punch, April 5, 2020 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
A Muslim group, League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, has clarified its position on the use of alcohol-based sanitisers by Muslims as the world battles the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement issued by spokesman for the league and Mudir Markaz (Arabic and Islamic College, Agege, Lagos), the league said its stand that Muslims should use detergents rather than alcohol-based sanitisers, was informed by the fact that the 60 per cent to 70 per cent alcohol content in the sanitiser which could kill the virus is above the permissible per centage agreed by most Islamic scholars for non-consumable alcoholic content.
The agreed percentage of non-consumable cannot be more than three per cent.
The group, also known as Rabita, said the fact that alcohol-based sanitisers could kill some useful cells and bacteria in the body made detergent a better option….
“What is needed at this time is giving and helping others in distress, including pleading with Allah for forgiveness.”

I do not understand the 3% requirement.
Do these Imam not recognize the difference between isopropyl alcohol and drinking alcohol?
Do they not use rubbing alcohol in their medical environments to clean items?

The mullahs are at war with science and most other aspects of modernity, with the exception of advances in weaponry. Islam’s war with modernity was sparked by philosopher al-Ghazali.

Many U.S. hospitals hire Muslims to clean patient’s rooms. Are they sanitizing their hands? Are they using alcohol based wipes on the furniture surfaces? Have their garments that they’re allowed to wear home and to work been laundered?
According to my personal experience as a patient, the answer is NO.
mortimer says
The hospitals should be investigated for negligence in enforcing hygiene and sued if nothing else will stop that. A letter to the hospital director which is carbon copied to a nursing professional organization will set the cat among the pigeons.

Another example of Islam’s incompatibility with modern science. The mullah’s should read their hadiths more carefully. Mohammed didn’t forbid the topical use of alcohol, only the internal use of alcohol, but he didn’t forbid a medical use of alcohol either, such as for sterilization.
But, as we know, Mohammed thought that it was ‘clean’ to wash your face in water in which there were menstrual rags, dead dogs and donkeys, and faeces floating.
Listen to Mohammed’s advice about hygiene … do Muslims follow it?

imams are as useless as a bent and headless nail. No, wait, the nail could be useful for some projects. After all, it can be straightened out with gentle pounding in the right spot.
The Bible has commands that illustrate principles, so Laws and commands written centuries ago can be applied now, even though science has come a long way in understanding and explaining germs, bacteria, viruses, and other microbes. Besides the fact that our Creator made everything “good” and gave instructions based on His perfect knowledge.
However, the filthy book and sayings of the mass-murdering, raper of children, psychopathic liar. is full of errors regarding science (and everything it touches on) and cannot be relied upon for guidance. These ‘imams’ trying to use what he supposedly said centuries ago to apply to today’s scientific advances is just pure arrogance.
3% is not strong enough to sterilize anything, so may as well just use plain water. Let them all become zombies from getting the virus and infecting one another.
As Mr. Spencer has quoted so many times from Jesus in Matthew, “Leave them alone. Blind guides is what they are.”
These imams are spiritually and mentally blind. Leading others astray.

I only wish that they were that benign…

I know what you mean, James.
somehistory says
Unfortunately, useless and benign aren’t synonymous. A malignant brain or body tumor is useless, but hardly benign.
imams, islamic “scholars,” clerics and mullahs are like malignant tumors.

Nigeria: League of Imams tells Muslims not to use alcohol-based sanitizers
…………..
Saw this one coming. Muslims–even doctors and nurses–have refused to use alcohol steralizers before.
Does it matter that using hand sanitizers has *nothing* in common with drinking alcohol? Of course not.
