My latest at PJ Media:
This will teach those Islamophobes that Islam is a religion of peace: a professor is facing death threats for suggesting otherwise. Nicholas Damask, Ph.D., has taught political science at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona for 24 years. But now he is facing a barrage of threats, and his family, including his 9-year-old grandson and 85-year-old parents, is in hiding, while College officials are demanding that he apologize – all for the crime of speaking the truth about the motivating ideology behind the threat of Islamic jihad worldwide.
Damask, who has an MA in International Relations from American University in Washington, DC, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati, says he is “to my knowledge, the only tenured political science faculty currently teaching in Arizona to write a doctoral dissertation on terrorism.” He has taught Scottsdale Community College’s World Politics for each of the 24 years he has worked at the school.
Professor Damask’s troubles began during the current Spring semester, when a student took exception to three quiz questions. The questions were:
- Who do terrorists strive to emulate? A. Mohammed
- Where is terrorism encouraged in Islamic doctrine and law? A. The Medina verses [i.e., the portion of the Qur’an traditionally understood as having been revealed later in Muhammad’s prophetic career]
- Terrorism is _______ in Islam. A. justified within the context of jihad.
Damask explained: “All quiz questions on each of my quizzes, including the ones in question here, are carefully sourced to the reading material. On this quiz, questions were sourced to the Qur’an, the hadiths, and the sira (biography) of Mohammed, and other reputable source material.” And indeed, the three questions reflect basic facts that are readily established by reference to Islamic texts and teachings and numerous statements of terrorists themselves.
Despite this, the student emailed Damask to complain that he was “offended” by these questions, as they were “in distaste of Islam.” Damask recounted: “Until this point, notably, the student had expressed no reservations about the course material and indeed he said he enjoyed the course.”
Damask sent two lengthy emails to the student responding to his complaints, but to no avail. A social media campaign began against Damask on the College’s Instagram account. Damask notes: “An unrelated school post about a school contest was hijacked, with supporters of the student posting angry, threatening, inflammatory and derogatory messages about the quiz, the school, and myself.”
At this point, College officials should have defended Professor Damask and the principle of free inquiry, but that would require a sane academic environment. Scottsdale Community College officials, Damask said, “stepped in to assert on a new Instagram post that the student was correct and that I was wrong – with no due process and actually no complaint even being filed – and that he would receive full credit for all the quiz questions related to Islam and terrorism.”
There is much more. Read the rest here.

You know those to be true. As do I. As do many, maybe most, Muslims.
The trick: getting our politicians and ‘journalists’ to accept that.
Letters to editors aren’t effective, nor are letters, emails and phone calls to elected officials.
Difficult to watch U.S. politicians fawning over Muslims swearing to ‘support and defend’ with one hand on a book which prevents them from doing so.

This overt, obvious threat to his life, rather than any call to sift and winnow over the accuracy of his quiz’s test questions, is ample proof of the violent nature of Jihad, and yes… of muslim students who demand he be withered and even murdered and who call and write to this effect. The Professer should sue the school after they end his tenure and the students who threatened him and the costs of his own self protection.

1. Has an MA in International Relations.
2. Has a Ph.D. in Political Science.
3. Wrote a doctoral dissertation on terrorism.
4. Has taught Scottsdale Community College’s World Politics for 24 years.
So, the student was “offended” by the questions on a quiz, as they were “in distaste of Islam.”
Actually, the student was offended by the truth. The truth, indeed, shows that islam is distasteful. Perhaps the student should reflect on that.

Spot on, James. Yep, you can’t tell the truth. And educational institutions are meant to be all about the search for the truth, however offensive that truth might be to some people. But, of course, it seems that, these politically correct days, universities and schools aren’t about searching for the truth at all. They seem to be about brainwashing their students with the politically correct outlook. My initial reaction to this report was, hilarious, because, as others have pointed out, this professor has flushed the violence of Muslims out. They have immediately come after him and proved how violent they are. Great work by the professor. Except that the consequences are terrible for the professor and his family. This sort of garbage is something those smart Hungarians, by keeping Muslims out, won’t have to put up with.
James Lincoln says
Thanks for your reply, tim.
I studied Latin in college, and am fairly fluent in French.
Looking to study a new language, it will definitely be either Hungarian or Polish – or maybe even a little bit of both.
Both of these beautiful old European countries are on my radar for vacation spots – and my wife is “all in”.
tim gallagher says
Yes, James, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia and Poland are probably pretty pleasant countries for a holiday in the summer. Over the years I’d had a few friends from Hungary and Poland. They seemed like pretty good people. For me, as someone who gets depressed, a lifelong affliction, the cold weather and grey skies of the Northern hemisphere is not something I can cope with. But I’ve been to Europe in the summer years ago and it was pretty good weather. We get lots of cloudless blue skies and sunshine in Australia, which lifts my spirits. Of course, it makes Australia the skin cancer capital of the world, and I’ve had a few cancers cut out by now, but I still love the sunshine, warm weather and bright light. It’s probably the best thing about Australia. As for languages, English provides enough of a struggle for me, although, probably because I was raised as a Catholic ages ago, I studied Latin in high school.
Westman says
The college officials know that administrative salaries and perks are more than 50% of a typical college budget. They don’t give a personal damn about their nation or the students as long as the status quo reigns and the indoctrinarion of youth into self-absorbed pacifists continues. They don’t know what sacrifice means nor do they wish to experience it – especially their access to the feeding trough and adulation from the historically ignorant.
To paraphrase a song, they “marry” into the university system and then retire. They adopt socialism because, in reality, they are already on a form of public dole that comes from the taxpayers. Why do anything that disturbs that? “Don’t rock the boat”, is the unofficial motto.
What would you think of giving to a charity that gobbled up 50% of donations for the administrators? Would you call it a scam? Is 50% of the budget for university administrators, a bloat which lays extra debt on students, any less of a scam?
Never expect anything from these non-patriotic charlatans in recognition of warnings about the inherent danger in the ideology of Islam. It’s about keeping the Benjamins(baby) which requires, “killing the messengers”
Frankly, universities are a bad example to youth, implying that any college degree means freedom from physical work and a good salary, only to discover, too late, it is only true for some.
I remember hearing a relative speaking to another (college graduate) relative saying, “If you’re so smart, why are you poor?” I also remember a plummer who charged $500 for 2.5 hours work clearing a sewer pipe and that was his third similar job that day.

The Muslim Student’s Association of the United States and Canada was established in 1963by members of the Muslim Brotherhood hoods at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign campus. The Saudi Arabia backed efforts to create a network of International Islamic organization to spread Wahhabist ideology. There are over 600 chapters in Canada and the United States.
1991 memorandum, Mohamed Abram, stated “must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all regions”.
The MSA was specifically named in the memorandum as one of the Muslim Brotherhood hoods “likeminded organizations of our friends” that shared the common goal of creating a Muslim nation in the West.

tim gallagher says
The professor has exposed very clearly the violent nature of Islam and the way that so many Muslims are on the edge of going berserk and threatening and committing violent acts against anyone who “insults” Islam by telling the truth. Islam indoctrinates Muslims with a violent outlook and they are always right on the edge of being violent, like a hair trigger set-up. A few years back, on Alan Jones’s radio program (the highest rating talkback program in Australia), and Jones interviews an American commentator, Harley Carnes, briefly each day and gets the news from the USA, but, for some reason, they discussed how Muslim youths were rioting violently in Paris and I still recall how Carnes made this same point about violence and Muslims. There was something about how these Muslim youths threatened to do even more damage and destroy even more of their area of Paris if they didn’t get treated better. I think it was something about how they thought that their living conditions weren’t good enough, so they would destroy the areas they lived in unless conditions were improved. Carnes has a very dry wit and was lacerating about their attitude. I remember him saying something like, oh, so they’re saying, see, we have vandalised and damaged our area, so now you treat us better or we will destroy even more of the area we live in with our violent, destructive actions. Their resort to violence is different to the Muslims in this report, but is also somewhat similar. Violence and bullying threats of violence seem too often to be their first, and only, choice. As the professor has proved, Islam definitely is violent. Violence is all that Islam has to offer. Keep them out of our countries. Some of these nasty threats people get these days are due to social media. It is often reported here in Australia that, if anyone (mostly from the right) steps out of the politically correct line, even slightly, then a whole bunch of vile creatures threaten all sorts of retribution. Probably part of what this professor is copping is from these permanently outraged fascist types.

Arizona: Muslim Students Threaten to Kill Prof for Suggesting Islam is Violent
…………………..
Well, this proves his point. Yet the dhimmi college officials are insisting he apologize.
Why don’t they instead arrest and deport these Muslim students?
Wellington says
Because, gravenimage, such officials are massively ignorant, cowardly and infused with those “twin wisdoms,” i.e. political correctness and multiculturalism.

Yes, Wellington, and, “run for their money”, is a double entendre. A: Nadir Soofi and Elton Simpson
Wellington says
Demonstrating again for the umpteenth time that if you assert that the Islamic faith is inherently violent in its theological blueprint you will be denounced as some kind of hater or bigot, all the while mucho numbers of Muslims will issue threats to kill you. Can’t make this up, eh?
Absurdity on display yet another time—by both Mohammedans and pathetic, clueless, cowardly dhimmis—this time in Arizona. Well, I for one have come to the irrefutable conviction that any defense of Islam has absurdity and wrong written all over it. Not one damn exception to this conviction of mine. Not even one.
Holy Hell. Whether one considers Islam a religion or not (hope you’re reading this, Terry Gain), what can no longer be disputed by any rational person is that Islam is evil. It is quite clearly a despicable belief system which has as its deity a very malevolent figure (a true cosmic jerk if ever there were one), a “last prophet” that has psychopathic and narcissistic characteristics written all over him, and a chief religious work which is full of hate, stupidity and monumental contrivance of the first order.
Assuming man is an idiot no better proof could be provided than that Islam has lasted for some 1400 years now. Islam makes Marxism and Nazism, two other wretched belief systems, look like pikers in the “evil category.” Not even a close call—Islam is the “clear winner” here.
The monumental curse continues. The monumental curse is Islam.
James Lincoln says
Wellington,
If “mo” were alive today, it is likely that he would be diagnosed with – at least:
1. Schizophrenia.
2. Severe narcissistic personality disorder.
3. Criminal psychopathology.
ALL are very difficult to treat. Schizophrenia generally requires phenothiazines, severe narcissistic personality disorder requires intense psychotherapy.
A criminal psychopath also needs psychotherapy – within prison walls.
Prognosis is very guarded.
Wellington says
Agreed and fully so, James, respecting your assessments of the character of Mohammed.
When I am in a more argumentative mood, which is not infrequent since I look upon argument as a sport, I ask some clueless dhimmi defending Islam what they think of the character of Mohammed. A blank look ordinarily follows, as though I had just said to the person, “Men from Mars have landed and what do you think about that?”
Ignorance of Islam remains Islam’s greatest weapon. Conversely, Islam’s greatest weakness is Islam itself, which can’t help, over the long run, reveal what it is really up to. Cruel paradox and bitter irony existent here all over the place. A lot of stupidity too.
The games continue and with the fate of the West and Mo’s creed held in the balance.

Courses i took on terrorism several years ago now, had much about the roots of terror and most of the texts used didn’t hold back for fear of offending moslims. I have wondered if that would still be true..
It should be possible to take legal action against those people who threatened the professor and his family. People should not get by with making death threats…to burn down the school, to go on a shooting rampage at the school, to go to his house and see that he ‘meets his end.’

I had to comment on this. So the Professor says Islam is violent, the Muslim students don’t like it so they threaten to kill him. They have just proved the Professors right in his observation. Of course they won’t actually see that, blinded by rage from their devil god. This is why I say Islam is only for the most stupid of people.
What has happened here is that these Muslims have been brainwashed from birth to respond violently to any criticism of their so called religion. MIND CONTROL
These are the same actions that Muhammad responded with when anyone dare to critique him, he had them killed. Islam is about violence, deception, sex slaves, racism, being a pedophile and control.
A very evil wicked barbaric ideology indeed, for sick minded people who just don’t know any better, but remember they have been brainwashed from birth.

It’s not murder when they kill you, or even suicide, when they blow themselves up (that one is “martyrdom”). There is a language of deceit which typifies islam. The koran extols it. Quite why non-muslims feel the need to indulge it, I am less sure.
somehistory says
Exactly. moslims see themselves as “freedom fighters” and “holy warriors” and define “peace” as when everyone is bowing to their beast.
Since their beast demands constant lying, violence, rape, warfare, murder and extortion, moslims will never really know peace.

What a substandard report! The headline refers to “Muslim Students Threaten[ing] to Kill Prof”, but you will read the article in vain for a citation of any death threat. Don’t characterize, quote! How was the religion of the death threatener(s) determined? I agree with the reporter that this Professor Damask is weak in subject-verb agreement: ==QUOTE== He [Prof. Damask] promises the student: “I will be reviewing all of my material to ensure there’s no additional insensitivities.” (Apparently politically correct academics cannot be bothered to internalize basic rules of grammar.) [Is the reporter calling Prof. Damask politically correct?] ==UNQUOTE==
pragmatist says
Read the paper again – properly. Professor Damask did NOT promise the student ‘I will be reviewing………..there’s no additional insensitivities’ – that was what the college Authorities TOLD him to say in his apology, which he has rightly refused to do.
Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY) says
Hi, Pragmatist. I too wondered whether Professor Damask was told to promise something, but the reporter’s wording leaves no doubt that he (who could this “he” be other than the professor?) actually “promises the student” (and words his promise ungrammatically).

Hi, SomeHistory. I did scan the entire article specifically looking for death threats (plural), but found none. Please do not simply claim death threats — quote them!

When I read the article in FPM, before seeing it here on JW, I read different quotes of threats…using the internet…to suggest that someone go to his home and (the quotes won’t copy and paste for me)….However,
” threats against Damask, including these statements: “if he is still around I suggest the students take action to make sure he isn’t”; “drop the professor’s address I just wanna talk”; “what’s the instructor’s name and address, I just want to say ‘hi’”; “I wish everything bad on these kuffar” [unbelievers]; “I hope he suffers.”
According to Damask, “there are literally hundreds of posts like this. There have been death threats, at least one call for a school shooting, and at least one call to burn down the school. Again, all of these threats are still on the College’s Instagram page.”
”
https://cms.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2020/05/arizona-professor-threatened-offending-islam-robert-spencer
I,personally, have no reason not to believe there were other threats, possibly more specific ones, against his life. Some threats are “veiled” so the person making them can deny that they are meant to say he will be killed, or that someone wants him dead.
I don’t use instagram or know anything about the platform, but perhaps it’s possible for anyone to access the college’s page. If he lied about them, surely someone would call him out after a reading of the site.
Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY) says
Thank you, SomeHistory, for your kind reply. I saw those same remarks, but if these are death threats, they are very veiled (hijabbed) ones, made by namby-pamby jihadis who cannot bring themselves to follow the advice of Quran 47:4. And as far as I have been able to find, none of these threateners claims to be a Muslim. It’s as if they’re embarrassed by Islam.

Speaking of substandard reports Mark Spahn, I do recall you making a comment about “My Pillow Guy”, what he wears around his neck. He wears a cross and he is a Christian. So please do remember “All men make mistakes and only fools repeat them.”
Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY) says
Hi, ET. At risk of going off-topic, have you seen the latest Mike Lindell commercial touting his autobiographical book, “What Are the Odds?”? In the commercial, he misreads an excerpt from his own book, failing to pronounce the word “dark”. What accounts for this discrediting of his own audiobook? The cross is not just a Christian symbol, it is also an instrument of Islamic torture; see Quran 5:33. Mike’s jewelry is the subtlest dawah ever.

Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY) says
Hi, Mateen Elass. What we have here is an exercise in reading comprehension. Let’s quote the entire relevant paragraph:
==QUOTE==
On Sunday night, the school sent Damask the apology that he was to make to the offended student. It is full of the expected embarrassing groveling: “I know,” Damask is supposed to inform the student, [a] “a simple apology may not be enough to address the harm that I caused but I want to try to make amends.”[b] [c] He promises the student [d]: [e] “I will be reviewing all of my material to ensure there’s no additional insensitivities.” [f] (Apparently politically correct academics cannot be bothered to internalize basic rules of grammar.)
==UNQUOTE==
The words from [a] to [b] are words which Damask is called upon (by the school) to make to the complaining student. The words from [c] to [d] are written by the reporter, one Robert Spencer, reporting that Damask is making a promise to the student (not “is supposed to promise”, but “promises”). The words from [e] to [f] give the content of this promise being made (not “supposed to be made”) by Damask to the student.
Your interpretation makes perfect sense, but is not justified by the wording of the PJMedia article.

On the contrary, though I see your viewpoint, stylistically it is ruled out by the paragraph construction. The point of the paragraph, as seen in the opening sentence, is to highlight the university-constructed apology and the fullness of its “expected embarrassing groveling.” It makes no sense that Prof. Damask would reject the groveling as worded by the university only to voluntarily do some groveling of his own. I take Mr. Spencer’s comment, “He promises to the student…,” to mean that “In the university’s sniveling apology which the professor is meant to sign off on, he promises to the student….” This accords with the main point of the paragraph. If the meaning is the way you construe it, a new paragraph would have been in order. At least, that’s the way I see it, in terms of exercising reading comprehension.
