“Certainly the evidence is that he’s supportive of ISIS and was looking to provide funds to Islamic State if possible.”
But no terror charges. After all, the Australian police don’t want to appear “Islamophobic.”
“Three men charged and 14 guns seized in counter-terrorism operation,” 9News, June 20, 2020:
Three Sydney men have been charged with more than 70 offences after an investigation into the alleged possession of illegal military-style guns by a group with suspected extremist ideology.
The trio, aged 26, 29, and 30, are due to face a Sydney bail court today after their arrest yesterday by counter-terror police.
Police seized 14 weapons over the course of the five-month investigation including an MK15 assault rifle, a pump-action shotgun and a 9mm Glock pistol.
Two banana magazines and 523 rounds of ammunition were also found….
None face terrorism charges.
The men are facing weapon supply charges.
Police said there was no evidence of plans for a terror attack.
523 rounds of ammunition were also seized.
Australian Federal Police Assistant Commissioner Scott Lee said the investigation began in January following reports of a person with “extremist sympathies”, who was allegedly “aligned to the Islamic State ideology”, supplying firearms.
“We’ve captured evidence in terms of the extremist beliefs that are consistent with Islamic State and that’s obviously part of the information that we obtained that caused us such concern,” Mr Lee said,
“There’s no evidence (the man involved wanted to join ISIS) … but certainly the evidence is that he’s supportive of ISIS and was looking to provide funds to Islamic State if possible.”…

It has now been almost 20 years since 9/11; and what have our leaders learned about the dangers of Islam? It would seem the answer is “very little”.

These wanabe jihadis might not have wanted to join ISIS, but they were prepared to help their ‘brothers’ to commit violence. Isn’t that being “an accessory before the fact”?
Jail or deport the bastards! They are a danger to our security. They will continue to follow the dictates of their warlord prophet.
“Not equal are those believers remaining [at home] – other than the disabled – and the mujahideen, [who strive and fight] in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred the mujahideen through their wealth and their lives over those who remain [behind], by degrees. And to both Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remain [behind] with a great reward (Paradise).” (Quran 4:95).
“And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows. And whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.” (Quran 8:60).

More suicidal insanity.

Now this really pisses me off.
If some poor bastard gets caught with grand dads rifle he brought back from the war, this would have been all over the news and there would be calls for more gun control laws.
These arseholes are selling guns they illegally imported to criminals to finance terrorists and it barley makes a blip on the local news.
The cops on the ground are probably just as angry as I am. They do the leg work to take this scum off the streets and then some ball less politician trys to sweep it under the rug to avoid upsetting his voters.
More treason from the top.

We do have very strict gun controls here in Australia. The best outcome from this incident will be that the police will “throw the book” at this lot and they will get long prison sentences. Fortunately Australia does not have a gun culture and you have to have a good reason to own one. This can be membership of a gun club, farmers or security guards. The Australian public wants guns controlled and the police do not want to see guns out there on the street. I am quietly confident that this “bust” will lead to very long prison sentences. (Note the person (Muslim) who simply supplied the gun to the Muslim who shot a police officer in western Sydney is serving a 44 year sentence. The police here are tough on guns.
Gord says
Australia does not have a gun culture? I call BS. Post world war 2 many people participated in shooting sports. In more recent years people were forced to turn in firearms which were legally owned and now you are saying no gun culture. Sad words from an uninformed individual.
RichardL says
disarm citizens, become a dictatorship. Citizens who want to commit political or real suicide should not be able to force citizens who want to be free into being subjects to a government. Gun crime in Britain rose by over 400% since they made possession of short arms illegal.

No you don’t have a open gun culture.I can assure you many guns simply vanished oops don’t know what I did with that mossburg.
Michael Copeland says
So….. “a group with suspected extremist ideology” (the word “extremist” denoting endorsing violence) was supplied with guns by a person “aligned to the Islamic State ideology”.
Do the police suppose that that “Islamic State ideology” may have anything to do with Islam?
Or is it just some abstract unidentified “extremist ideology”?
There are dots here. They need to be connected.
Year after year politicians and prosecutors fail to make the connection.

Western countries have to ask what is the cost to having Muslims in their countries. Statistics should be kept on the frequency of jihad sympathies among Muslims and of the frequency of jihad attacks per thousand of Muslim population. Only a scientific study of the jihad phenomenon will reveal what we need to know about the relative danger of Mohammedanism. A major problem with vetting Islamists is that fanatical Muslims may hide their jihadist ideation in order to enter and then manifest it later when they have residency. Other quiescent Muslims could develop Instant Jihad Syndrome at any time.
What we cannot do is to remove JIHADISM completely out of the minds of Muslims, because there is a voluminous literature that tells Muslims that JIHAD is a CENTRAL DUTY of all Muslims higher than the duty to pray.
We need to convince Muslims that the Koran is of human origin many because Muslims cannot be jihadists when they believe that the Koran has been craftily concocted and that the jihad doctrine is not divinely inspired.
James Lincoln says
mortimer says,
“Western countries have to ask what is the cost to having Muslims in their countries.”
Exactly, but as Robert Spencer would say – that would be a islamophobic.
The costs are enormous. Government benefits, greatly increased security / law enforcement / judiciary costs – not offset by muslim generated tax revenues.
And the cost of a fundamental change in the culture of the host country. Judeo-Christian values replaced by fear and actual terrorist attacks. etc.

Hopefully, the Australia police will pick the brains of these detainees to follow a trail to the lead jihadists. These suspects will plea bargain to reduce their sentences and while in prison, they will no doubt indoctrinate more jihadists. All convicted of jihad-terror charges should be offered a reduced sentence if they undergo intensive deprogramming.

Given that we all accept that these friends of ISIS are all dumb shits (but dangerous as well), is it possible that the intelligence services wanted these scumbags out and about to lead them to others further up the network/zoo ? Those targeted will not be able to hold back, going upstream for more advice or reimbursement of legal costs, or more islamic indoctrination/lies.
