After he serves some fraction of this nine-year sentence, Mohammed EW will become a loyal, stable, productive member of Belgian society, right?
The death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law. It’s based on the Qur’an: “They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.” (Qur’an 4:89)
A Sunni hadith depicts Muhammad saying: “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him” (Bukhari 9.84.57). This is not just a Sunni idea; the death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law according to all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
This is still the position of all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence, both Sunni and Shi’ite. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the most renowned and prominent Muslim cleric in the world, has stated: “The Muslim jurists are unanimous that apostates must be punished, yet they differ as to determining the kind of punishment to be inflicted upon them. The majority of them, including the four main schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali) as well as the other four schools of jurisprudence (the four Shiite schools of Az-Zaidiyyah, Al-Ithna-‘ashriyyah, Al-Ja’fariyyah, and Az-Zaheriyyah) agree that apostates must be executed.”
Qaradawi also once famously said: “If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment, Islam wouldn’t exist today.”

“Belgium: Muslim man sentenced for attempting to murder his ex-wife who left Islam,” by Michael Lord, Voice of Europe, May 31, 2020:
A man who has been identified only as Mohammed EW has been sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment in Belgium for raping and then attempting to murder his ex-wife because she had left the Islamic faith.
The victim, Fatima L, now 32, had been forced to marry Mohammed in 2008 in Morocco before joining him in Belgium. She filed for divorce from him several years later on the grounds that her husband regularly abused, imprisoned, and raped her, according to a report by Het Laatste Nieuws.
Fatima moved repeatedly in an attempt to prevent her ex-husband from knowing her whereabouts, but each time she moved he managed to locate her. During this period, she renounced Islam.
Finally, on October 1, 2017, Mohammed came to Fatima’s home and demanded that she dance for him. When she refused, he tied her up and raped her. He then threatened her with a butcher’s knife, telling her that he would “do Allah a great favour” by killing an apostate and a woman who had left Islam. After forcing to her to recite the prayer for the dead from the Qur’an, he began stabbing her repeatedly in the upper body and face. Mohammed stabbed her 18 times, causing Fatima to bleed profusely.
Fatima then pretended to be dead, knowing that this was her only chance for survival. After Mohammed left her flat, she managed to drag herself to a bench outside, where she was rescued by a passerby.
Mohammed, who is now 33, could have received a prison sentence of up to 20 years, but the Public Prosecutor only asked for 10 years for attempted murder. The judge ultimately gave him 9 years on the grounds that he did not consider the accusation that the murder was premeditated to be proven….
Michael Copeland says
“The judge …. did not consider the accusation that the murder was premeditated to be proven…”.
It seems that both the attorney and the judge need to start climbing the Learning Curve.
The husband said it would “do Allah a great favour”.
In Sharia anyone may kill an apostate: there is no penalty, “since it is killing someone who deserves to die”. Such an act does, indeed, “do Allah a great favour”.
A wife who wants to leave her husband casts shame and dishonour on him. Sharia entitles him to cleanse the shame by spilling her blood. This act, also, does “do Allah a great favour”.
As the woman had left Islam she is a kafir. Muslims are instructed to kill kafirs.

To say that the attempted murder was not premeditated is nothing less than insulting the Koran.

The judge is just saying “Muslims don’t think.”

Allah and Mohammed premeditated the killing of apostates. 1400 years of Islamic tradition justifies the murder of apostates from Islam.
It was premeditated … no question about it. An expert on Sharia law should have be brought into court to explain how the apostasy penalty is common knowledge among Muslims.
Nonie Darwish who grew up in Egypt described how, in her youth, bodies floated down the Nile and no one commented on it. Everyone knew that honor killing was a part of Islam and no discussion was necessary.
It is common knowledge.

I believe if you asked 100 Muslims, ‘What is the punishment for leaving Islam’, about 98 or 99 out of 100 would say, ‘The penalty from leaving Islam is death.’

Grimly true.

There is little reason to believe that this man’s behavior will be changed for the better as the result of any prison term. Western legal systems and penal institutions must be updated to reflect the resilience religion-based crimes bring to the table.
Protection of society should be paramount when rehabilitation or punishment are unlikely to be effective.

Bring back the death penalty to rid society of these animals. How many ppl does he have to seriously injure before serious action is taken. Ppl like this judge should be changed with aiding and abetting attempted murder/murder as the situation needs of the actions committed.

What’s that sports outfit he’s wearing? Could he be part of the Belgian cricket team maybe, or something like that? You’d think if a national sports star murdered his wife it would be on the news but nope..
Every day you have to put up with Islam (and the Islam-loving media) is another day in the Twilight Zone.

Oh wait that’s just a picture of some other douche being interviewed, not the actual murderer, nevermind.

This is a great topic to raise by the pope who is committed to the Roman Catholic dialogue with the leaders of Islam.

Here is another tragic example of the great difference between how Muslim husband thinks and handles a situation that is disappointing to him regarding his wife or ex-wife her leaving Islam, and the vast contrast to how Christian husband thinks and handles a situation that is disappointing to him of his wife turns away from Jesus.
So if a Christian man discovers that his wife is turning away for Jesus ,he becomes worried about her and prays to God the Father. to move her to return to Jesus.
By contrast if a Muslim husband discovers that his wife, in this specific case ,his ex-wife, had left Islam he become very angry towards her and then murder her.
The tremendous difference between a Christian husband and Muslim husband this and behaves about such a matter is outstanding.
The fruits of prayer and by terrible contrast the fruits of murder.
Jesus taught “By their fruits you will recognize them.” Matthew &:20 [N.I.V.]
