“Religious police”? Wait, what? Doesn’t Tyler Vilus know that the Islamic State has nothing, nothing whatsoever, to do with Islam? No doubt Pope Francis is on his way to France now to explain to this good-hearted young man how he is misunderstanding his peaceful religion.
“French jihadist goes on trial over IS group executions in Syria,” France 24, June 25, 2020:
A French jihadist went on trial Thursday on terror charges amid accusations that he oversaw executions in Syria as a senior figure in the Islamic State (IS) extremist group.
Tyler Vilus, 30, is facing charges of belonging to a terrorist group, heading a unit of IS group fighters and “aggravated murder” between 2013 and 2015. He faces a life sentence if convicted.
Investigators suspect him of being part of the “Al-Muhajireen” (the immigrants) brigade, a squadron that tortured and carried out summary executions, which he denies.
Vilus is also accused of supervising executions as a member of the religious police in the north-eastern Syrian town of Ash Shaddadi, close to the Iraqi border.
In a 2015 video published by the IS group’s media department, a man alleged to be Vilus is two metres away as two kneeling and blindfolded prisoners – one belonging to the Free Syrian Army rebel fighters and the other a member of Bashar al-Assad’s army – are executed with a bullet to the head.
In an interview with FRANCE 24, sociologist Farhad Khosrokhavar, an expert in radicalisation, described Vilus as a “charismatic personality” who became an “emir”, or general, of the IS group and was heavily involved in propaganda efforts to attract people to Syria….
Vilus has admitted to being in contact with the man French secret services believe was the mastermind of the November 2015 terror attacks in Paris, Abdelhamid Abaaoud.
Vilus’s mother, dubbed “Mama Jihad” in the French press, travelled three times to Syria in support of her son and was sentenced to 10 years in prison in June 2017 for her “unfailing commitment” to jihad….

Admittedly, there is a risk in any course we follow other than this, but every lesson in history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face.
Ronald Reagan
There are some who, for varying reasons, would appease Red China. They are blind to history’s clear lesson, for history teaches with unmistakable emphasis that appeasement but begets new and bloodier war. It points to no single instance where this end has justified that means, where appeasement has led to more than a sham peace. Like blackmail, it lays the basis for new and successively greater demands until, as in blackmail, violence becomes the only other alternative.
Douglas MacArthur
Peace is not passive, it is active. Peace is not appeasement, it is strength. Peace does not ‘happen,’ it requires work.
Hubert H. Humphrey
An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.

It will not be long before Sharia law becomes the only law in France, and President Macron is replaced with an Imam. The question is,… will he be a Wahhabi, a Shia or Sunni Imam.

yup. the UK, though, is a few years ahead. I have lived in all of these countries and Pakistan and England are the same.
Chistopher Watson says
Agreed Richard. We must look at the underlying smaller appointments and authorities: the town councils, the mayors, the no-go zones (of which there are many) the school governors. Then the more important authorities: the civil service, the police, the newspapers and the BBC. There is also a profusion of moslem ‘family’ courts and how long before we get an Islamic police authority? The UK is on the tipping point. If you want to see who rules, look at who you can’t criticise.

So, this murderer faces life in prison??
That time frame should be the amount of time it takes to go from the court room to the wall in front of the firing squad.

A beautiful sentiment.
James Lincoln says
Agreed, a lot better than housing, feeding, and watering him for the next 50-60 years…
gravenimage says
Even worse, James, “life” sentences often do not mean that in France and the rest of the EU.
Even if convicted, these thugs only have to serve 18 years, then they are eligible for parole, so they can go out and victimize society.
James Lincoln says
Grimly so, gravenimage…
Lavéritétriomphera says
Bonsoir gravenimage,
In France, if life sentence is pronounced, the convict must serve 20 years, thereafter he/she may seek sentence adjustment which can be refused for some reasons.
But life sentence without parole may be imposed for terrorist crime.
I am not a legal expert, I cannot say more than this.

Thank you, Lavéritétriomphera. I’m sure you have more information on the ground.
I got my information here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_imprisonment_in_France#:~:text=In%20France%2C%20life%20imprisonment%20is,remainder%20of%20the%20convict's%20life.&text=Life%20sentences%20for%20crimes%20other,they%20become%20eligible%20for%20parole.
Very similar, certainly–and not a real life sentence in any case.

Bonsoir gravenimage,
Real sentence life (condamnation à perpète) exists in France but it’s extremely unusual.

Yes, Lavéritétriomphera–my understanding is that there are only a little over 500 prisoners in the whole of France serving *actual* life sentences.

This is a 1400-year global war. It’s happening right in front of our eyes.
We either confront it now, with policy and strategy, or we wait until the asymmetric technological advantage we now enjoy is erased. Either way, there’s going to be a fight.

Yes … ‘RELIGIOUS POLICE’ (also known as the HIZBAH ‘the party’) are OFFICIAL in many Islamic countries.
In most Islamic ‘SHARIA countries’, these SHARIA-ENFORCERS are called simply ‘HIZBAH’, but in Soddy Barbaria, they are called the ‘MUTAWEEN’ and the ordinary citizens call them ‘THE TALIBANS’ (in Arabic).
There is no way to DENY that RELIGION-ENFORCING POLICE are OFFICIAL in many Islamic countries.
Pakistan even has a COUNCIL OF ISLAMIC IDEOLOGY to force politicians to enact DISCRIMINATORY Islamic laws which contradict the freedom of religion clauses in the Pak constitution.
Sharia laws are absurd and cruel and most people don’t want to practice them. Most Muslims are tired of the restriction, pretend to go along with it and almost all Muslims are lying about how much they practice.
gravenimage says
Actually, over half of Muslims even in the US say that they want Shari’ah law imposed.
