Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Indonesia: Coronavirus restrictions eased so couple could be lashed in Sharia state of Aceh for premarital sex

Jun 9, 2020 1:00 pm By Robert Spencer

As with so many applications of Islamic law, we see here again that Sharia is an empire of fear, with virtue enforced by draconian punishments that make people too afraid to step out of line. Behind the Islamic moral critique of the West is not genuine virtue, but people cringing in fear of getting arrested, or even of being lashed, getting their hands amputated, getting stoned to death, etc.

“Indonesia couple lashed in Aceh despite virus fears,” AFP, June 4, 2020 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

Two Indonesians caught having pre-marital sex were flogged a hundred times each on Friday in conservative Aceh province with a fraction of the usual crowd watching, due in part to coronavirus fears.

Aceh is the only region in Muslim-majority Indonesia to impose Islamic law, which allows whipping for charges including gambling, adultery, drinking alcohol, and gay sex.

Local officials have continued the practice despite bans on mass gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic, insisting they have taken adequate safety measures to prevent infections….

The man’s flogging was briefly paused because he couldn’t bear the pain, while a second flogger had to be pressed into service to finish the heavy lashing of his female partner.

“This young couple deserved a hundred lashes because they violated Islamic law,” said Agus Kelana Putra, head of general crime division at the prosecutor’s office in Aceh Besar district.

Another man caught in a hotel room with a woman was also whipped 40 times but his underaged female partner was spared.

Dozens watched Friday’s flogging, a spectacle criticised by rights groups but which regularly attracted hundreds before the pandemic….

Islam is a torture cult. Islam cannot EVOLVE to anything more enlightened or gentler. ISLAM IS STUCK IN THE 7TH CENTURY.

Cruel and Unusual Punishment LEGAL DEFINITION

Such punishment as would amount to torture or barbarity, any cruel and degrading punishment not known to the Common Law, or any fine, penalty, confinement, or treatment that is so disproportionate to the offense as to shock the moral sense of the community.

The Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibits the federal government from imposing cruel and unusual punishment for federal crimes.

In attempting to define cruel and unusual punishment, federal and state courts have generally analyzed two aspects of punishment: the method and the amount. As to the method of punishment, the Eighth Amendment clearly bars punishments that were considered cruel at the time of its Adoption, such as burning at the stake, crucifixion, or breaking on the wheel (see In re Kemmler, 136 U.S. 436, 10 S. Ct. 930, 34 L. Ed. 519 [1890]). In Hudson v. McMillian, 503 U.S. 1, 112 S. Ct. 995, 117 L. Ed. 2d 156 (1992), the U.S. Supreme Court held that the use of excessive physical force against a prisoner may constitute cruel and unusual punishment even if the prisoner does not suffer serious injury. When an inmate does suffer serious injury from the excessive use of force by prison officials, a violation of the Cruel and Unusual Punishment Clause is clear. In Hope v. Pelzer, 536 U.S. 730, 122 S.Ct. 2508, 153 L. Ed. 2d 666 (2002), the U.S. Supreme Court held that the Eighth Amendment had been contravened when prison officials had disciplined an inmate for disruptive behavior by handcuffing him to a “hitching post”, once for two hours and once for seven hours, depriving the inmate of his shirt, exposing him to the sun, denying his requests for hydration, and refusing to allow him the opportunity to use the bathroom.

Just a thought, if Islam is so morally correct and the punishments inflicted are so just,,,,,then why do the individuals who carry out the punishments hiding their faces behind masks? Kind of reminds me of the sicko’s from isis.

    …………………

So they are making an exception for abusing people under the horrors of Shari’ah. This makes clear what their appalling “values” are.

I am sure they were punished for breach of social distancing rules and I rule out that the punishment had anything to do with premarital sex. If that was the case it would put the prophet Muhammad in a very bad light and who would do that in Aceh?
