My latest in PJ Media:
The far-Left rioters who attempted to topple the statue of Andrew Jackson in Washington, D.C.’s Lafayette Square Monday night almost certainly know nothing whatsoever about him. What they were told in the Antifa indoctrination camps that are called higher education these days is that he was largely responsible for the forcible exile of Native Americans from the Eastern United States, the Trail of Tears, and is thus to be reviled and hated forever. What they were not told is that Jackson’s rationale for adopting this policy was quite similar to several core Leftist beliefs today.
As Rating America’s Presidents: An America-First Look at Who Is Best, Who Is Overrated, and Who Was An Absolute Disaster explains, Jackson was a foremost advocate for the removal of the Indians from the settled areas of the United States, and their relocation in unsettled areas of the West. In May 1830, he signed the Indian Removal Act that made this recommendation the law of the land. This is today considered to be one of the black marks on his presidency and a shameful period in the history of the United States. This is a reasonable judgment, as this policy amounted to penalizing all Indians for the misdeeds of some Indian warriors, and it led to untold suffering.
It is noteworthy, however, particularly in light of the deep splits in American society today, that Jackson presented his Indian removal plan as beneficial not just for the Americans, but for the Indians as well. In his first annual message to Congress in December 1829, he said: “The condition and ulterior destiny of the Indian tribes within the limits of some of our states have become objects of much interest and importance. It has long been the policy of government to introduce among them the arts of civilization, in the hope of gradually reclaiming them from a wandering life.”
Jackson pointed out that the endeavor to civilize the Indians was inconsistent with the practice of buying Indian land: “This policy has, however, been coupled with another wholly incompatible with its success. Professing a desire to civilize and settle them, we have at the same time lost no opportunity to purchase their lands and thrust them farther into the wilderness. By this means they have not only been kept in a wandering state, but been led to look upon us as unjust and indifferent to their fate. Thus, though lavish in its expenditures upon the subject, government has constantly defeated its own policy, and the Indians in general, receding farther and farther to the west, have retained their savage habits.”
There is much more. Read the rest here.

Leftist Rioters Hate Andrew Jackson’s Indian Policy, But Their Multiculturalism Is Just Like It
……………
All too true…
Wellington says
Actually worse than Andrew Jackson’s policy, gravenimage. Jackson, like so many in the 19th century, including Abraham Lincoln, were of the world view that the races would be best off living apart.
Of course, one now living in the early 21st century can understandably disagree with this, but taking your own age’s point of view into past times and expecting those in past times to conform with your view represents the height of ignorance—and thinly disguised narcissism as well. Hey, even Jesus and Saint Paul never condemned slavery—no one we know of did until a group of Quakers did so in Philadelphia in the late 1680’s. Any Christian out there ready to condemn Jesus? Doing so would be replete with stupidity.
And more—to wit, multiculturalism, which avers that all cultures are equal, is hypocritical in that it makes an “allowance: for one culture being less than equal, i.e., Western culture, which really means an excoriation of the Caucasian race. Classic reverse racism.
Even more, and this is per Dennis Prager. No race in history has done more for another race than has the white race of America over the past half century for the black race. I challenge anyone to refute this eminent and laudable truth proffered by Prager. Many will of course reject this, but they will reject it with NO evidence, only some kind of emotional nothingness.
And finally, in this very stupid time in which we live, seems only whites did wrong. Well, what about American Indians who enslaved one another, had human sacrifices, major tribes of whom (e.g., the Five Civilized Tribes) aligned with the Confederacy to preserve their black slave system? What about black African tribes, e.g., the Ashanti, who participated extensively in the black African slave trade and also had human sacrifice to appease their stupid and non-existent deities (rather like Allah who is also non-existent—but I digress)? How about Muslim slave traders who captured Balkan white females en masse to serve as sexual slaves in Islamic harems? Never hear of this in the modern Western educational system, now do we? And then there is the extensive slavery engaged in by the Asian world—all over the place actually and as recent as the Japanese from 1910-1945 enslaving Korean females for the purpose of being “comfort women.”
Phony, phony, phony world. And most ominous is that we now have one of the two major political parties in America, the Democratic Party, participating in this phoniness, headed no less by the “Let them eat ice cream” monstrosity who is Nancy Pelosi.
Man never learns. Individuals do but mankind as a whole remains a collective idiot. I take no joy in writing this but write it I feel I must.

All very true Wellington, and it looks like humanity never learns from a painful history, and is condemned to repeating its mistakes over and over again.

Wellington, Your words are not falling on deaf ears. As I process what I’m witnessing daily, I have concluded that these feral miscreants who cry “defund the police” are in fact hiding behind those same police who would, no doubt, arrest citizens for stepping up to put a stop to the insanity. Ballots instead of Bullets is what has kept us separate from the third world. Now that the honored peaceful transition of power has been violated by obamud & co. we are closer to another civil war than ever. soros and the muslim brotherhood are gloating. arab spring right here and the law abiding people are losing patience. I thank I am not a democrat.

Should read I thank God I’m not a democrat. It bears repeating anyway, 🙂

Westman, exactly, I watched that interview. I hope that woke some people up. Anyone who can stand in agreement with him needs to be dealt with. Al Sharpton, ya think?

“Wellington,” What you say is true, but the Herd Mentality of the modern day activist cannot be paralleled in its lack of personal due diligence to be aware of both history and the lies that it is told by its leaders.

It is all about abortion: These rabid pro abort persons of course know that killiing unborn human is dead wrong because “thou shalt not kill” (the innocent and defenseless) is the natural law written in every human heart; However they have shut their ears to the insistence of their conscience, and part of their way of shutting their ears is to try to load of their intolerable guilt onto historical figures who they pleased to call “killers.”. They would like to kill them too, but since they are already dead, they can only kill their bronze statues. If you kill the unborn or support laws that allow it, you kill Christ, for Christ was an unborn Child, who said:”.Whatever you do to the least of my brothers(and sisters), that you do unto Me..” “Woe to you who call good evil and evil good!”- Holy Bible.

I’d wager if I offered one of those Marxists a $20 bill with Jackson’s face on it, they would not refuse to take it.
gravenimage says
There has been a campaign to take Jackson off the $20 bill for some time.
CogitoErgoSum says
Isn’t Jackson considered to be the first President from the Democratic Party? Not that that means anything. The people wanting to get rid of Jackson’s memory are Marxists and today’s Democrats are just useful idiots.
Wellington says
Jackson, CES, was from the same party as Jefferson, Madison and Monroe (even more or less Quincy Adams too because by the time Quincy Adams became President in 1825 the Federalist Party was dead).
The only difference, name wise, is that the Democratic-Republican Party, which was the party of Jefferson, Madison and Monroe, had by the time that Jackson was elected in 1828 just started to refer to itself as the Democratic Party. Same party, just not as full of a name.
Where the big difference exists with the election of Jackson in 1828 is that the previous six Presidents had all been part of the American aristocracy—two from Massachusetts (father and son Adams) and four from Virginia (Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe), and to the manor born all of them, though Washington was almost entirely self-taught.
By contrast, Jackson was born in deep poor circumstances, a log cabin if even this (we’re not even sure for certain whether Jackson was born in North Carolina or South Carolina since he was born into rank poverty on the state line—though he made his mark in the new state of Tennessee, come into the Union in 1796 when Jackson was still a teenager). Thus, Jackson upset the whole political apple cart because he really did come from nothing and made good.
At the time, what constituted the American aristocracy thought the American Republic was over with such a “poor one” become President. But Jackson turned out to be tough, shrewd (very) and mostly right. He stared down nullification from South Carolina over the tariff issue and made certain that the Second Bank of the United States would be no more. Previously, he had been a fearless general defeating Indians (themselves brutal but of course this is not to be mentioned nowadays), Spaniards and Brits. He was also a damn good self-made lawyer, served in both houses of Congress and on the Tennessee Supreme Court. He knew a lot about a lot of things.
Now, morons want to tear down his statue. He would have shot them. Can’t say I would blame him—but I digress.
Wellington says
One correction, CES, which I noticed when I re-read my comment to you just now. Jackson was born in 1767 and as a boy actually fought against the British in the Revolutionary War (and was physically scarred by them when captured, something which made him resent the British for the rest of his life).
But by 1796 when Tennessee became the 16th state he was 29, not 19, as I originally calculated in my previous post to you. Well, this is why I went into history and law and not math and science. Damn.

Those statues of guys on horses are really outdated. One with Obama riding his bicycle and wearing his crash helmet and mom jeans would be more representative of today’s Social Justice Warriors fighting to establish the Soymalian utopia (or is it dystopia?).

White leftists that have something to loose have set in motion a variety of stuff that they have lost control of and now they are coming to recognize the out of control six headed monster they themselves created and nurtured. They are worried. After years of preaching divisiveness in every corner of society we are now hearing white leftists stating that electing Biden will magically unite the country. Bwhahaha. That is the funniest thing I have heard in years.
I sense that white leftists are concerned about being stuck living with what they created. White leftists thought it was great to watch it all unfold from a distance. It’s the old saying, a nice place to visit but they really don’t want to live there. Some things just go so far that there is no way to reel them back in. The genie is out of the bottle and is not easily put back in that bottle.
We live in very interesting times.

Also what is not generally known is that these tribes brought their own black slaves with them. And a supreme irony is that the last Confederate general to surrender was a Cherokee chief in Oklahoma.
tgusa says
Yes, buried American Indian history. A proud warrior based culture that mercilessly attacked opposing tribes in ways that White men of that time would have considered barbaric. They really didn’t like each other all that much. The survivors were either tortured to death or they became slaves. Do the leftists really want us to conduct an American Indian type of war against them?
Rbla says
A patriotic American Indian, the late Dr. David Yeagley, was a descendant of a Comanche warrior chief. After 911 he said that if whites were no longer willing to protect their land they should give it back to his people who would fight to defend it.
tgusa says
I would rather join with him and fight to defend it. I have a lot of respect for American Indian warriors. They don’t mess around, which I prefer. I like their style.

This looks like and smells like Hitlers NAZI Germany beginnings. Hitler defunded the police so that they could not interfere with his Brown Shirts that were tearing down statues and destroying freedom of speech in order to control and effect up coming elections. BLM is being used as a tool by the Democratic Party that will result in a loss of freedom for everyone if the progressive left wins in November.
