Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Michigan: Muslim cleric calls US a “police state,” says Khomeini shows how to “liberate the globe”

Jun 20, 2020 5:00 pm By Robert Spencer

The Leftist/Islamic alliance articulated once again: “Begging the tyrant doesn’t work, you have to demand your rights from that tyrant. Now, knowing a little bit about what systemic racism is, what can we learn about the life of Imam Khomeini that will empower us to do this mission that we have and restore dignity to the oppressed? Not only to the oppressed here, brothers and sisters – to liberate the globe.Begging the tyrant doesn’t work, you have to demand your rights from that tyrant. Now, knowing a little bit about what systemic racism is, what can we learn about the life of Imam Khomeini that will empower us to do this mission that we have and restore dignity to the oppressed? Not only to the oppressed here, brothers and sisters – to liberate the globe.”

“Michigan Shi’ite Islamic Scholar Usama Abdul Ghani: In The U.S., You Can See What A Police State Is Like; This Is The Savagery Of America; Imam Khomeini Taught Us How To Liberate The Globe,” MEMRI, June 6, 2020:

Usama Abdul Ghani, an American Shi’ite Islamic scholar, was featured in a two-hour-long tribute to the leader of Iran’s Revolution, Imam Khomeini, in honor of the 31st anniversary of Khomeini’s death. The tribute was streamed live on June 6, 2020 on the AIM Islam YouTube channel, which belongs to the U.K.-based AhlulBayt Islamic Mission (AIM). Abdul Ghani said that after the U.S. killing of IRGC Qods Force Commander General Qasem Soleimani and PMU Deputy Commander Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, whom he referred to as martyrs, the world started to change rapidly, and he said that after the death of George Floyd, things have been “really picking up.” He elaborated that the death of George Floyd was “the straw that broke camel’s back” and said that it has brought the people of the world out to protest and riot against systemic racism. Abdul Ghani said that the response to these protests in America has been more police brutality and savagery, and that the time has come for the oppressed to demand their rights from the tyrants. In addition, he said that Imam Khomeini’s mission had been to liberate the oppressed in the entire world, and not only in Iran, and he added that Soleimani and Al-Muhandis had been murdered for carrying out this mission. Quoting Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khameni, he said that the goal of the IRGC’s Qods Force is to “protect the dignity of the oppressed.” Abdul Ghani further said that this is why it is important for Iran to send oil tankers to Venezuela and to aid the Syrian people. Referring to his viewers and himself as Imam Khomeini’s “students,” he asked how Khomeini would want his students to address systemic racism around the world.

The AhlulBayt Islamic Mission (AIM) is a Shi’ite Islamic organization based in the United Kingdom, and it is endorsed by Khamenei’s representatives in the U.K. and the Red Crescent. Abdul Ghani was born in Washington, D.C. and studied in Qom, Iran for many years. He currently resides in Dearborn, Michigan. In May 2019, Abdul Ghani spoke at a Qods Day rally in Dearborn, at which he said that Israel is the “head of the snake” behind all the oppression in the world. For more information about this speech, see MEMRI TV clip no. 7284.

Usama Abdul Ghani: “After the deaths of the martyr Qasem Soleimani and the martyr Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, things started to change very rapidly in the world. You could feel it. You could see it. You are watching events, after events, after events… And now after the murder of George Floyd, again, you are seeing that things are really picking up.

[…]

“After that happened – it was the straw that broke the camel’s back – people started protesting, they started rioting. Not only that, the world got upset.

[…]

“People marching globally. Here, in America – America [is] on fire. When that happened, what happened? More police brutality. You are seeing what a police state is like. What is a police state like? People brave bullets, rubber bullets, beatings, savagery, and they say: ‘No, enough is enough!’ They came out to the streets. After that, the police still didn’t stop. You see them shooting reporters, blinding reporters, and arresting reporters on TV! This is the savagery of America.

[…]

“The masses have realized you can’t beg a tyrant for your lawful rights – that’s what George Floyd did. Begging the tyrant doesn’t work, you have to demand your rights from that tyrant. Now, knowing a little bit about what systemic racism is, what can we learn about the life of Imam Khomeini that will empower us to do this mission that we have and restore dignity to the oppressed? Not only to the oppressed here, brothers and sisters – to liberate the globe.

[…]

“Imam Khomeini’s mission was not only to give dignity to Iran, or just to the Muslims, but to the oppressed on the Earth.

[…]

“The students of Imam Khomeini – people like the martyr Qasem Soleimani or Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis – they died trying to realize this goal of giving dignity to the oppressed. Do you remember what Khamenei said after the martyr Soleimani was murdered? He said that the mission of the Qods Force is to protect the dignity of the oppressed. [This is] why is it so important that oil tankers go from Iran to Venezuela, that the Syrians not be left alone, when the tyrants say openly: ‘We are there to secure the oil.’

“How would Imam Khomeini want you and I – as his students – to look at this opportunity to take on global systemic racism, here in America – towards the African-American community – but [also] all over the world? The rest of the world… The cries of ‘I can’t breathe’ – the people in America are saying this. The rest of the world, that’s their words. The knee is still on their neck.”

Are there any countries in the world which do not have any police at all and yet are free from violence and crime? Doesn’t Iran have police? Yes, the U.S. has police in its cities and for the most part those police do a pretty good job of serving and protecting the citizens of those cities. Police in the U.S. will arrest a person if that person does something that is considered by the police to be against the law. Now, if there is disagreement about the arrest being justified or not we also have a court system where a person can defend himself from an unjust arrest. However, sometimes a person will decide to bypass the step of going to court for justice and will choose to let the police become the judge and jury concerning the outcome of the arrest. When that happens I am all for letting the police choose what the penalty should be. We have a system of laws in the U.S. that will work for everyone if everyone will just let the system work the way it’s supposed to work.

Just like a Muslim cleric to get things exactly ass backwards. Sure, America has faults, which every nation has and which America has owned up to at least as much as any other polity in history, but America also has greatness, true greatness—freedom too (at least for now but not if the Left and Muslims get their way).

Contrast this with Islamic countries, none of whom have any kind of greatness, far more faults than does America, effectively no freedom, and which sad-ass countries virtually never own up to any wrongdoing, respecting which they are guilty innumerable times over.

A world without America would be a world in great danger and darkness. A world without Islam would be a far better world. I vigorously assert that anyone who disagrees here has a moral compass so broken that it is almost certainly beyond repair.

Agree with Wellington: ‘backward’ is the best word to describe Islam and then ‘savage’ and then ‘barbaric’.

But a true savage and a true barbarian is like Dracula, for he cannot see himself in the mirror.

Usama Abdul Ghani, I suspect, has few ideological differences with ISIS. It wasn’t Shi’ite but apart from that, it was doing ‘good work’ or so he thinks.

By praising the late leader of the IRGC Qods Force who was planning attacks on Americans in Iraq, Usama Abdul Ghani is stating his is a traitor to the US.

People like Usama Abdul Ghani should be refused BEFORE they get residency.

Ghani, per the article, was born in D.C., but left to study in Qom, where he spent “many years” before returning here. So he’s an American citizen. But his comments, to me, are treasonous, and should be heeded by the government, which should take action. Wishful thinking on my part.

Usama Abdul Ghani hasn’t a clue about how the very democratic American system works in which even judges and sheriffs are elected by the people and for the people. The American system is the LEAST tyrannical system on earth.

Human rights are defended by the constitution and enforced by orders of the Supreme Court.

How can Muslim leaders be so uninformed? Does he just open his mouth and do a stream of consciousness every day?

Usama Abdul Ghani thinks America is “on fire”. No it isn’t. An absolute minority are demonstrating and looting; the message getting lost because there are too many issues and too much violence in the demonstrations. They are becoming demon-strations.

This is not Iran. There are no rural cities demonstrating and if not for the work stoppage of Covid19 there would far fewer demonstrations. Much of the anger is displacement from being out of work and money.

The hilarious recent event in CHAZ shows vividly that there is no real unity. BLM decided to hold a black-only meeting and told the others to protect the perimeter.

Usama Abdul Ghani doesn’t understand that goverment in the US is the servant of the people. And the people have the power, unlike in Iran, to both vote them out of office and remove them by force, if necessary. Force has never been necessary because the majority have always maintained fair and solid principles.

The strangest factor in the Leftists agendas are that they completely leave out the people upon who they are directly dependent in their plans for utopia. In fact they call them deplorables and the like because they don’t agree with them.

Like Lenin, the left wants a Marxist society yet completely ignore the results – you get Stalin and grain combine operators being paid much more than teachers. Marxist rule will destroy the food supply and reliable services. Under socialism-Marxism nobody gives a damn about quality or being productive when everyone is taxed and forced to be “equal”. The only equal that works is equality under the law. When it comes to competition in the marketplace, people are not, nor have they ever been, nor will they ever be, “Equal”.

“From each according to his abilities and to each according to his needs”, has always been a failure whether by Lenin’s Russia, hippy communes, Mao’s China, or Venezuela.

This cleric is just one of the invasion leaders of the islamic migration/invasion that is slowly taking place across western society. Islam’s dream is to rule the world with sharia law as its base of rule and to install a “religious” dictatorship that controls everything and enslaves or murders those who disagree. It’s time to stop the invasion.

  11. David Darman says

    Jun 21, 2020 at 2:02 pm

Once again, I observe conflation of the terms “left” and “soft on jihad/oppressive Islamic ideology”.
Would someone kindly define “leftist” without reference to Islamic ideology. After all, 1) a leftist is someone soft on Jihad/Islam and 2) anyone soft on Islam is, ipso facto, a leftist is a meaningless tautology.

Moreover, can “leftist” be distinguished from “liberals” and “progressives?” Are there not other factors, more important factors, that define where someone lies on the political spectrum than their attitude towards Islam.

I reiterate that RS and his adherents do a disservice to their cause by lumping all leftists, liberals, and progressives together thereby alienating many who would otherwise increase their influence.

Hey, no one said it would be easy to condemn one of the world’s major religions. Expect the politically correct, individuals and MSM alike, to be difficult to educate and persuade. Getting discouraged and/or being short-tempered is not winning strategy.

    • Wellington says

      Jun 21, 2020 at 2:33 pm

David Darman: Old fashion liberalism from half a century ago has morphed into modern liberalism, call it leftism if you like. The former was not totalitarian at all and embraced such things as the greatness of the West, of America, was opposed to Marxism and was not intolerant. Modern liberalism, again leftism if you prefer, has ever increasingly numerous intolerant and totalitarian aspects to it and, unlike old fashion liberalism, is anti-capitalist as well—and capitalism is the only economic system that builds wealth and creates prosperity. Leftism also has no problem making temporary alliances with Islam, the worst religion ever created by man, and the only religion which an old fashion liberal from a century ago, Bertrand Russell, noted in his The Practice and Theory of Bolshevism is totalitarian in both structure and ideology—and this is why Russell compared Islam to Marxism and fascism ( and why Islam cannot be reformed because you cannot reform a totalitarian ideology).

No one knows better what has happened to old fashion liberalism than the few old fashion liberals still around, someone like Alan Dershowitz, Professor Emeritus of Law at Harvard, who has decried the massive intolerance that so many leftists manifest today—in politics, academia and the media. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, another old fashion liberal who was a New York Senator and before that in various government circles (he died in 2003), observed that the greatest failing of modern liberalism is its inability to identify and deal with evil. Just look at all the leftists today who endorse BLM, which is a horrible, racist, Marxist organization (its three founders, Garza, Tometi and Cullors have all described themselves “as trained Marxists”).

I wish old fashion liberalism would return but I don’t see that happening. I am a conservative and have no respect for modern liberalism (leftism) but do respect old fashion liberalism and old fashion liberals like Harry Truman and Clement Attlee, even though I have disagreements with some of the policies these men had (mostly of an economic nature). As for conservatism of today, it really hasn’t changed much at all over the last half century or so, very much unlike liberalism. The essence of conservatism is that government is best which ordinarily governs least. Old fashion liberalism wanted more government and leftism wants government all over the place running everything—and unlike conservatism and old fashion liberalism will brook no dissent because, you see, leftism is effectively a substitute religion and when you disagree with a leftist you are not only wrong but bad—a heretic from the true faith.

This is just a summary. If you want more, I am willing to provide it. And I would end here by noting that Robert Spencer himself has encountered the intolerance of leftism and leftists countless times and has written about these encounters in many articles right here at Jihad Watch.

Thanks for taking a stab at clarification, but I’m not sure I understand yet. The distinction between classic liberal and current liberal is fuzzy and I’m not sure how you would distinguish leftist from today’s liberal or progressive.
I abhor Islamic ideology, but I’m in favor of free enterprise/capitalism accompanied by a progressive income tax. I favor social security and unemployment ins, and other social programs for the less capable and truly needy, e.g., food stamps, SSI, together with a broad interpretation of the rights guaranteed by the US Constitution. Does that make me a leftist?

Of course, RS is going to have to butt heads with politically correct types who know nothing of the basic precepts of Islam. He’s running interference for the rest of us, but I wish he would stop conflating leftist with those soft on Islam – I don’t think that is helpful.

        • Wellington says

          Jun 21, 2020 at 11:34 pm

Well, there are gradations, not just an either/or. But the reasonableness of traditional liberalism is largely gone.

As for Robert Spencer conflating leftism with those soft on Islam, I am very much with him here. I know of no instance when Robert Spencer was shouted down or threatened by those on the right. It’s always by those on the left.

The vast majority of non-Muslims who make excuses, and even excoriate those like Spencer who merely point out all the freedom-crushing aspects of Islam (e.g., death for apostasy), can be found on the left side of the political spectrum. And when was the last time a leftist speaker was shouted down or threatened by those on the right, especially on college campuses? Doesn’t happen.

Both the Far Right and Far Left should be avoided, as I conveyed to my students over a third of a century of teaching, but the Far Right has almost entirely been defanged and has not taken over traditional conservatism while the Far Left is enormously present in academia, the media and ever increasingly in the political realm and has largely bastardized traditional liberalism, as old fashion liberals like Alan Dershowitz and Joe Lieberman have, with much sadness, indicated.

Once I have been to one Islamic country and I went to their souk(Market) as a visitor all of the sudden from no where police cars arrived along with few trucks of sand they put sand on the pebbled stone road and dig a log there.
Then they brought one man his hands was tied and he was crying, they tied him to that log and made some announcement on loudspeaker(which is Haram according to their religion) In minutes crowd gathered and made a circle there then police men gave everyone stone and after few minutes everyone started hitting that poor man with stones and in few minutes man died they took his body put into one of the truck which was full of stones few more vehicle cameras they clear the sand and took away that log too. Everyone were back to their chores like nothing happened
Out of curiosity I asked one guy what was that he gave me a grin and told me he killed someone and his family offered price to the victim family they denied to take it and according to Sharia law if they can not reach to a conclusion with money then this man has to be stoned until he died. I saw that brutal act with my naked eyes
USA is a police state where do the law prevails but they want to make the world like this and kill people like this on street or chop their hands or shred people skin with whips in today’s world that’s all they want instead of a police state.Where they sell girls of different religion on street and if she refused to accept their ideology or wish to become a sex slave then set that girl to fire and make a video with pride and viral it to rest of the world.
