One wonders what exactly these generals think we’ve been doing for the past twenty years?
Why have thousands of American soldiers died and many more were wounded fighting… what… exactly?
But we mustn’t talk about the war. Or even mention that we can’t talk about the war.
At least three prominent retired general officers have dropped their support for President Trump’s nominee for the Pentagon’s top policy job, retired Army Brig. Gen. Anthony Tata, over inflammatory tweets he made two years ago on Islam, President Obama and Democratic lawmakers.
“I now would not want him in that position,” said retired Army Gen. Joe Votel, who led U.S. Central Command until 2019, of Gen. Tata.
Gen. Votel was one of 35 former senior military officers, former State Department personnel and other former national security officials who had signed a letter to the Senate Armed Services Committee in support of Gen. Tata’s nomination before the tweets had re-emerged.
What are these horrifying tweets?
In a series of remarks on Twitter, Gen. Tata called Islam “the most oppressive, violent religion” and referred to Mr. Obama as a “terrorist leader.” In a radio appearance, he falsely referred to Mr. Obama’s “Islamic roots,” according to CNN, which first reported his remarks June 12.
Falsely? Obama wrote an entire memoir based on that premise. He included it in his Cairo speech, saying, “I am a Christian, but my father came from a Kenyan family that includes generations of Muslims,”
His minister, Jeremiah Wright, had started out as a black Muslim. And retained the ideology, complete with Farrakhan ties.
But these days, stating facts means that the media throws in a “falsely” and calls for your head, and the D.C. establishment, looking at its career options, quickly joins in.

A statistical analysis of Islamic texts shows Islam is the MOST WARLIKE of all religions.
The sacred nature of violence Islam is spelled out in Bukhari Vol. 4, Book 52, Num. 73 : “Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Abi Aufa: Allah’s Apostle said, “Know that Paradise is UNDER THE SHADES OF SWORDS.”
Danish researcher Tina Magaard, Ph.D. concluded that Islam is the most warlike religion. After three years analyzing the original texts of ten different religions, Tina Magaard concluded that the Islamic texts stand out by encouraging terror and fighting “to a far larger degree than the original texts of other religions. The texts in Islam distinguish themselves from the texts of other religions by encouraging violence and aggression against people with other religious beliefs to a larger degree.”
“What is striking is not in itself that one can find murderous passages in the Islamic texts, as such passages can also be found in other religions. But it is striking how much space these passages take up in the Islamic texts, and how much they focus on an us-and-them logic in which infidels and apostates are characterized as dirty, rotten, criminal, hypocritical and dangerous. It is also striking how much these texts demand that the reader fight the infidels, both with words and with the sword. In many passages, Muhammad plays a central role as one who encourages the use of violence, whether it comes to stonings, beheadings, acts of war or execution of critics and poets.”
Those generals know nothing about Islam. They should have researched the WARLIKE NATURE of Islam, being soldiers.
Wellington says
I fully agree, mortimer, that these “generals know nothing about Islam.” And they never will if they haven’t by now. Forever blind. And again is demonstrated that ignorance of Islam is just about the best ally Islam has.

What the retired generals know about Islam–or don’t–is unknown.
But referring to Mr. Obama as a “terrorist leader”–in a public forum–exposes a significant flaw in his character.
The complex and expansive position to which he’s being nominated requires adult interpersonal skills–not public partisanship and name calling.
“An administration official familiar with the situation said Gen. Tata “deeply regrets” the tweets and that they were “unprofessional.” The official said those represent a small percentage of thousands of Gen. Tata’s tweets and the ones in question had been “cherry picked” and taken out of context.”
I don’t know what likely deserved comments he made about democratic lawmakers, but his reference to Obama’s well-known “Islamic roots” is certainly not false.
However, despite the headline “for Calling Islam “Violent”, none of the retired generals cited that as an issue, as far as I can tell.
I would say the retired generals’ knowledge of Islam remains unknown.

We’re all fully aware of Obama’s character flaws, especially his “Islamic roots.”

Well said Sir–As a New Zealander.I find it incredible that any US serviceman would not be familiar with the origins of both US navy and Marine Corp..formed by Pres Franklin specifically to deal with the atrocities, kidnapping and ransom demands of the Barbary pirates in the Mediterranean 1800s.That said and the similarities with present day terrorist groups should be enough to convince any sane person, let alone a soldier of Letters, that this is an ideology unacceptable in civil society.

Are these the same generals who “won” the war in Afghanistan? Or are they the ones who left our military vehicles and other weapons in Iraq for ISIS so they could murder the Christians, Yazidis and any other “Infidels” in the Middle East? Give me a general who knows his enemy and not some damn fool who doesn’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings.
Wellington says
Your post, CES, made me think first and foremost of General William Tecumseh Sherman. He knew his enemy, knew war was Hell, knew the sooner you got a war over with the better and knew how to do this. No touchy/feely part to Sherman. None.
mortimer says
Kudos to CES and Wellington. The generals also know nothing about TAQIYYA.
“It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperilled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperilled in every single battle.” – Sun Tzu
These generals should start by reading the SIRA (Life of Mohammed), the official biography of the prophet of Islam.
Mohammed led or ordered violence every six weeks in the last nine years of his life. Now that’s ‘violent’.

After Mohammed, Sun Tzu, and Sherman – Patton had it about right:

Yep. BTW, I can’t help but wonder if we are going to see the burning of Atlanta again after the police officer is found not guilty in the shooting of Rayshard Brooks. But then again maybe the officer will be sacrificed to appease the mob. Are there any statues of Sherman in Atlanta? I can’t imagine there are but, if so, I’m pretty sure they will be coming down too.

I didn’t find evidence that Wright was a Muslim. On paper, his education looks impressive until you look at his doctoral thesis: “Black Sacred Music: Problems and Possibilities”. Sadly, he is very anti-Semitic and a misguided supporter of the KGB-invented Palestinian people, Wright said in a 2009 interview with The Daily Press that he hadn’t seen Obama since his former congregant was elected president because “them Jews ain’t going to let him talk to me.” All in all, Wright’s a spontaneous, shallow, uncontrolled loose cannon filled with rage and prejudice. Obama did the ‘right’ thing to drop him after Wright’s ‘God damn America’ sermon.
gravenimage says
Wright is not a Muslim–he very much hates America, though.
Owen Morgan says
Did Obama try to disavow Wright after Wright’s “God damn America” rant, or only after that rant came to public attention? I had the impression that it was the latter.
L Mayor says
If Obama had a shred of integrity, he would have permanently walked out of Wright`s church after hearing his first sermon. Instead, Obama was a congregant for 20 years….until Wright became a political liability when Obama was running for president.
rubiconcrest says
Calling the duly elected president of the USA a ‘terrorist leader’ was a foolish thing to say. He may have walked back that statement just as Obama walked back his remark that Republicans were the enemy. I don’t know.
Anyone holding a public position should know by now that one has to be diplomatic when dealing with Islam. ‘The sad reality is that Islamic religious Median texts, Islamic law(Sharia) and Imams quoted on Memri TV support religious inspired violence toward unbelievers and jihad. Muslim spokesmen in the West generally deny these facts about their faith and label anyone speaking honestly as being Islamophobic. The actions of Muslims world wide, however, reflect these violent teachings.’ This is a defensible statement.
gravenimage says
No one should have to lie about Islam, though.
Daniel Triplett says
I don’t know how you define “diplomatic.” Whatever it is we’ve been doing isn’t working.
We’re in a zero-sum war. “Tie” isn’t an option, by our enemy’s rules, not ours. Until we acknowledge this war, and our only objective for victory, we’ll continue losing until all is lost.
At minimum, what we need is more Viktor Orban’s and Geert Wilders’ to replace our apologists and ‘diplomats’. Even more so, we need warriors willing to confront the war upon us, who develop and execute overall policy and strategies to win and end this 1400-year global war.

Iambob says
For the record, Obama was clearly lying when he said, “I am a Christian.”
First of all, a Christian is (by definition) a ‘follower of Christ.’ As a retired pastor (more than 48 years) and a Christian (more than 52 years), as I’ve watched and listened to Obama very closely since 2006 and found no evidence that he is even remotely a true follower of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The litmus test was given by the Master (Himself) when He said (speaking of His followers), ‘By their fruit you will recognize them.’ Matthew 7: 15-20
Secondly, on the basis of Obama’s own testimony he cannot be a Christian. Any true follower of our Lord Jesus Christ would conclude the same after reading what he said, in his own words, about his ‘religious’ beliefs.
https://www.patheos.com/blogs/thedudeabides/obama-on-faith-the-exclusive-interview/
Thirdly, he repeatedly and openly castigated the Christian faith and proudly promoted and defended Islam while in office.
That perpetual and pernicious pattern of speech and behavior, alone, manifested the true condition of his heart and exposed his deepest loyalties.
As for the generals who assailed their colleague, for speaking the truth about Islam; they comprise a group of ‘useful infidels’ who are responsible for our, presently, losing the war against Islamic terrorism.
History will not look upon them kindly, as they are either Obama holdovers or just stupid and ignorant.
notnolib says
That sounds like definition of character. Of COURSE islam is violent. It was built that way by its inventor mohammed, who also made up allah the moon-god.
prebangian says
Many evidently agree that Islam is violent. Jordanian King Abdullah II virtually rewrote the Quran to be used in Jordanian schools to remove the Jihadist versus in a effort to reduce the risk of violence in Jordan. Three hundred leading French intellectuals performed a study that concluded that Islam is violent (or has the capacity to incite violence), President Macron signed a letter printed in Le Parisien in 2017 asking French Islam to remove the Quran’s violent versus. French Islam STRONGLY refused. The Chinese permit the sale of no Quran in China that was not written and printed in China.
