Much has been written on Jihad Watch about converting the iconic cathedral Hagia Sophia into a mosque. This constitutes a supremacist victory for Islam. Icons will be concealed and tourists will now be required to remove shoes.
To add insult to injury, Turkey’s top imam, Ali Erbas, has “hailed the decision by President Erdogan to ‘break the chains’ on the spiritual center of Orthodox Christianity and claimed that a project to create an Islamic school (madrasa) is already underway.”
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu thumbed his nose at the international condemnations Turkey has been receiving, stating:
“We reject the word `condemnation….This is a matter that concerns Turkey’s sovereign rights.”
Too many people do not realize that this move by Turkey merely demonstrates yet again the truth about normative Islam. Once this news cycle is over, most of the very same people who have condemned the conversion of Hagia Sophia will again resume their friendly dialogue with the same Islamic supremacists who share the same ideology that led to the Hagia Sophia decision.
There remains the view that the Hagia Sophia is an isolated case, just as analysts insisted that al Qaeda and the Islamic State were unique and isolated groups. Actually, Infidels are inferiors in normative Islam. 1400 years of bloody jihad has proved this repeatedly, and the jihad is ongoing. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has long envisioned the revival of the Ottoman Empire; the conversion of Hagia Sophia is part of that endeavor. So of course Turkey rejects the EU’s condemnation, and does so with scorn and arrogance.
“Turkey says it rejects EU condemnation over Hagia Sophia,” Associated Press, July 14, 2020:
ANKARA, TURKEY — Turkey’s foreign minister on Tuesday chided the European Union over its condemnation of a Turkish decision to convert Istanbul’s iconic Hagia Sophia from a museum to a mosque, saying the matter is an issue of national sovereignty.
Last week, Turkey cancelled the sixth-century former cathedral-turned-mosque’s 86-year status as a museum and said it would open for Muslim worship as of July 24.
The decision sparked criticism in the United States, Greece, and other Western countries as well as from Orthodox Christian leaders. Pope Francis expressed sadness over the move.
EU foreign ministers, holding their first face-to-face meeting in months on Monday, declared that they “condemned” the decision. EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell said there was “broad support to call on the Turkish authorities to urgently consider and reverse this decision.”
Asked to comment on the EU criticism, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told a joint news conference with his visiting Maltese counterpart: “We reject the word `condemnation.”‘
“This is a matter that concerns Turkey’s sovereign rights,” he said.
He argued that there were several mosques in EU-member Spain that had been converted into churches.
On Tuesday, Greece again expressed dismay at Turkey’s decision.
“This decision is certainly painful to us as Greek Orthodox Christians but it also hurts us as citizens of the world,” said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. “This is not a Greek-Turkish issue, it is not even a Euro-Turkish issue, it is global. It is a universal issue.”
Mitsotakis added: “With this setback, Turkey is choosing to sever ties with the Western world and its values. It abandons a cultural direction of many centuries, preferring introversion. And it wraps with an artificial mantle of strength over its weakness.”
Meanwhile, officials from Turkey’s religious affairs authority, said the landmark structure can remain open to visitors outside of prayer hours, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
The Christian depictions inside are no obstacle to Muslim prayers….

What would Erdogan think if the Kaaba (Islam’s most important building) were turned into a dance hall?
Well, HG is the most important building for 260 million Orthodox Christians.
The almost empty blue mosque sits near to HG, so clearly, Muslims don’t have trouble finding a place to pray.
All Western countries should impose sanctions and instruct their citizens to avoid travel to Turkey.
I personally will boycott Turkish goods.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis was correct: “It is global. It is a universal issue.” Islamic supremacism cannot be satisfied with a small piece of the global pie. Islamic supremacism wants the whole pie.
This is jihad.
Islamic supremacism is a threat to Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Protestants, Orthodox, RCs, Atheists, Zoroastrians, Animists, and especially Bahai’is who are the preferred targets for Islam for some reason.
The world united can defeat Islamic supremacism, but if we quarrel and fight, the Muslims will pick us off one by one.
This is time for all religions to join together to rescind the HG conversion. Otherwise, some other religion will be the next victim of Islamic jihad.

Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.
Erdogan is an idiot who picks trivial fights with the ENTIRE WORLD for a small gain at the polls!
Half of Turks have agreed that he pulled this stunt for the sake of winning the coming election.
This pointless thoughtlessness will POISON the attitude of countries around the world towards Islam and especially poison all international negotiations with Erdogan.
Ray Jarman says
He has already poisoned world opinion by his actions against Greek sovereignty by assisting in an attempt by Syrian terrorists to breach the border with Greece. He has earned the ire of the EU when he tried to drill for oil in Greek and Cypriot sea domains.
I think that every non Muslim nation should shut down all mosques until Santa Sophia is returned to its previous state but I bet the outcry would be loud enough to tilt the world’s magnetic positioning.
Mira Nair says
Very correctly you have mentioned it. Their strategy is simple. Move to a non-Muslim geographical location and slowly start occupying the area by building mosques, enticing local girls and marrying and converting them and if they are obstructed they would cry hoarse and play victim card. In India they are advocates of secularism which they don’t practise in Kashmir and Kerela where their no. goes up. Bangladesh and Pakistan and not long back Indonesia where Hindu majority nations but by their deceit they keep on eliminating or converting them to Muslims. They are menace to society and humanity and need to be subjugated, if can’t be eliminated or converted back.

The Turkish agency lied: “The Christian depictions inside are no obstacle to Muslim prayers….”
Oh, yes they are:

Prayers in HG will not be valid.

That’s pretty hilarious coming from a regime which tramples the sovereignty of other countries on a daily basis and has been using war threats as a staple of its foreign policy for decades. (Not to mention setting up networks of spies all across Europe via the mosques it controls, as German Intelligence recently revealed)
By the way I’ve also been following the news on the latest tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the turkish FM’s statements, it looks like Turkey is not gonna miss the chance of getting involded in yet another war (seems like Erdogan is trying to set some kind of record) … Despite economic setbacks Erdogan’s nascent Caliphate’s power is growing each day, but clearly the west still refuses to take this threat seriously at all… Let’s hope they start doing so before Erdolf goes nuclear.

Turkey rejects EU condemnation over Hagia Sophia, declaring ‘this concerns Turkey’s sovereign rights’
……………..
It’s always been Turkey’s “sovereign rights” to persecute and even murder its Infidels…remember the Armenian Genocide?
Of course, he also regularly tries to interfere in Europe and Israel–so in the end this is always just about Muslim supremacy.

“….he also regularly tries to interfere in Europe……”
I believe our friends in the Netherlands and Germany know all about the strange confusion in Erdogan’s mind as to where Turkey’s jurisdiction ends. In the recent past he seems to have thought that he has some right to dictate what does and does not happen in certain matters as far as the North Sea coast.
SAFI says
I think he likes to interfere in MENA and other parts of the world even more often than he does in Europe, it’s just that western media largely fails to notice. The fact that he and his regime are being utter hypocrites when talking about “sovereignty” should be more than obvious

Pretty sure some retarded european politicians especially among the Greens would keep pushing for it even if Turkey officially and explicitly declared “We don’t ever wanna join your stinking Union. Ever!”
Then again in a way Turkey is already inside the EU. Several million of its colonists have infiltrated Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France etc and are waiting for orders from their leader…
