This is based on false assumptions and mistaken beliefs that could be quite damaging for the Christian side, as I explain below. But no dissent from the Pope’s ridiculous solicitude for Islamic supremacists and Sharia absolutists is allowed within the Catholic Church.
“Pope, Muslim Envoy Push Interfaith Shrine,” by Jules Gomes, ChurchMilitant.com, August 18, 2020:
VATICAN CITY (ChurchMilitant.com) – Pope Francis and a top Muslim envoy have met to discuss the implementation of the pontiff’s Catholic-Muslim Abu Dhabi declaration and progress made on building the proposed Abrahamic interfaith shrine.
Two days after the meeting, HCHF announced that Pope Francis and Grand Imam of al-Azhar Ahmad al-Tayyeb had “identified the document on Human Fraternity as the most important humanitarian document in modern history.”
The meeting with Judge Mohamed Abdel-Salam, secretary-general of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF), was not announced in the pope’s official itinerary, and Vatican News did not report the meeting.
Sources told Church Militant that the July 31 meeting was held in anticipation of the first anniversary of the formation of the HCHF, which falls on the Feast of the Assumption.
The meeting is said to have focused on the work carried out over the year by the HCHF on its projects and initiatives, especially on the building of the three-faiths worship center — the Abrahamic Family House — which is expected to be built by June or July 2022.
Project: Based on Falsity
In comments to Church Militant, eminent Islamic scholar Robert Spencer explained how “the Abrahamic Family House is based on a false premise.”
“In speaking of Abraham, Pope Francis probably thinks of Genesis 22:15–18, in which Abraham is rewarded for his faith and told he will become a blessing to the nations: ‘by your descendants shall all the nations of the earth bless themselves, because you have obeyed my voice,'” Spencer said.
“But Muslims don’t consider Genesis to be Scripture, or for the most part even read it. They read the Qur’an,” Spencer noted.
“In Sura 60, Allah says that Abraham is an ‘excellent example’ (uswa hasana, أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ, a term applied also to Muhammad in 33:21) for the believers when he tells his pagan family and people that ‘there has arisen, between us and you, enmity and hatred forever, unless you believe in Allah and him alone’ (60:4),” Spencer explained.
“The same verse goes on to say that Abraham is not an excellent example when he tells his father, ‘I will pray for forgiveness for you.’ Hatred is held up as exemplary; forgiveness is explicitly declared to be not exemplary,” he noted.
“The Abrahamic Family House thus promotes a commonality of faith and an openness and mutuality that simply isn’t present from the Islamic side,” observed Spencer, author of best-selling The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam….
But Spencer told Church Militant that “the Abu Dhabi declaration and the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity is a massive exercise in deception on the one side and wishful thinking on the other.”
“Ahmad al-Tayyeb did not and could not change Islamic doctrine when he signed the pact; the calls in Islamic texts and teachings for warfare against and the subjugation of unbelievers remain unchallenged,” Spencer maintained.
“The declaration’s statement that terrorism is a perversion of religious doctrine is false and misleading and breeds a dangerous complacency among Catholics,” he said.
“The implementation of this untrue and pernicious document can only mean more trouble for the Church, as the truth about the jihad threat against Christians is further stigmatized and marginalized,” Spencer warned.

A disastrous Pope has a meeting with an envoy of a disastrous religion.
No good can come from this unless it be a lesson well learned, well imbibed, by a plentiful amount of people respecting the difference between right and wrong.

sadly, I a long-term professor at a Catholic university, have to agree. He has never lived in reality. That is an explanation not an excuse. I have many priest and monk friends and they try to understand what real life is like for people who are not cared for by the Church.

Pope Francis is horrific but, over the years, I have known many wonderful parish priests.
I have a first cousin who is a Catholic Deacon and he shares my sentiments about the current Pope…

Pope Francis clearly doesn’t understand that Islam has its own Gnostic version of Abraham. He is not the Abraham of the OT or NT.
The Islamic ‘Ibrahim’ is an impersonator just as Saturday Night Live comics are impersonators of newsworthy politicians.

Response to RL: thanks for the informed comments.
Pope Francis has simply not done his homework re Islam. He gets a flunk grade.
Pope Francis is a shallow kumbaya singer.
The Abrahamic myth has been exposed and opposed by Jewish and Christian theologians.

For totally irrelevant reasons today I happened to be considering the bizarre phenomenon of people standing like deer in the headlights in the face of such impending disasters as volcanoes, tsunamis, wildfires, tornadoes, and, of course, icebergs.
And Muslims.
That’s a hint, Francis. Not that you seem to be capable of taking up on those.

Any Christian who thinks the words of the Bible and the words of the Koran come from the same deity is a fool. The demonic god of the Koran is NOT the Father, Son and Holy Spirit of the Bible. I don’t know how else to describe this Pope other than as a fool and he needs to follow his predecessor into retirement NOW.

CEG is correct. The Koran is remarkably different in content and doctrine from the Bible. Only a foolish person would not observe it immediately.
The Koranic themes are based on misquotes from the OT and NT or misquotes from non-canonical and gnostic texts. Moses, Joseph, Abraham, Jesus, Solomon and other names from the Bible are unrecognizably manipulated by the Koran’s author who places Islamic statements into their mouths in order to make it seem that they supported Islam and practiced it.
Maureen Chaloner says
This Pope is the ‘wolf in sheeps clothing’ according to the Bible. He has got to be the WORSE Pope in history. Only a FOOL would have anything whatsoever to do with Islam.
Goofy says
Pope Francis himself may not know very much about Islam, but his Roman Catholic church is bound to have clergy with Islam expertise. In many countries Christians of the Catholic faith are persecuted daily by Muslims who kidnap their young daughters to convert them by force and marry them against their will. Where is the pope’s empathy for them? What is the pope doing to stop Muslim aggression on Christians and their churches?
By associating himself with Islam which blasphemes our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by denying him being of one substance with God makes the pope and his church guilty of blasphemy.

Problem for the Pope is that there isn’t a “Muslim Envoy”, there are infinity for an infinity of Muslim groups!
He is giving in and making concessions in exchange for nothing of any tangible value.

Don’t any of these clowns, such as this Pope, know about those hate-filled calls in the Koran for Muslims to go out and kill non-believers (that includes Christians, the people you are supposed to be a leader of, you imbecilic clown, Pope Francis) or is it that they believe that Muslims don’t take those calls seriously? (the multitude of terrorist attacks on non-Muslims show that Muslims do take those calls seriously). I find the notion of inter-faith getting along with Muslims ludicrous and based on total ignorance of the vile nature of Islam. The Muslims are always going to be bullshitting about getting along with Christians. You may as well try to have inter-faith getting along with Satanism. It makes just as much sense.

“I find the notion of inter-faith getting along with Muslims ludicrous and based on total ignorance of the vile nature of Islam.”
That is a correct analysis, tim.
Ironic that the Pope, with all of his years of religious study – and access to leading theologians of all world religions – cannot see this.
And the average Jihad Watch reader can.
Pope Francis is one of the three:
He:
1. Is uable to know the truth about Islam.
2. Is unwilling to know the truth about Islam.
2. Fully understands islam and is either a:
a. muslim apologist.
or
b. A closet muslim.
tim gallagher says
Yep, I agree with the points you make, James. He has to know Islam’s nature. He has all those advisors whose knowledge he has access to. I don’t get his attitude at all, unless he somehow thinks that if he is really nice and says that islam is pleasant and peaceful it will magically transform itself into what he says that it is. Sort of like if you say that a nasty bully is really just a poor misunderstood person then the bully will turn into a nice person. It is rubbish, but maybe it is the way this Pope thinks about things. On Islam, and probably most things, I just ignore him as a bit of a fool.
Tony Naim says
I disagree with Robert Spencer. In and by itself,
I see the building of the Abrahamic Family House as an implicit rejection of the doctrine of Islamic supremacy, promoting equality among 3 different traditions. Putting them on an equal footing, A major departure from the radical and traditional Islamic approach seen in the behavior of the Turks for example. A symbolic gesture which will hopefully be followed by concrete political and social steps to provide Christians and Jews with equal civic and political rights and the implementation of freedom of religion in the Arabian peninsula. The signing of a peace treaty with Israel may be one of the manifestations of this new approach by a Muslim country that must be encouraged in its new journey. How can the Pope be wrong there?
I also hail the role played by President Trump who capitalized on that new spirit in the UAE to press for peace with Israel .
talleyrand says
how can that be when told by the Koran what they must do to non followers of that ideology
Which version of Islam will it be that changes this instruction from te so called perfect one .
To me the Pope is a halfwhit ,and trust not the other and is not written it alright for Muslim to lie to a non believer if it is to gain for Allah whom ever that is
Tony do actualy believe this twaddle from Rome, and the other party ,oil and water do not mix nor does fire and petrol
gravenimage says
Tony, I’m afraid your idea that this Da’wa means that Abu Dhabi has rejected Islamic supremacism has no basis. This is still a Shari’ah state, that has the death penalty for apostasy, that flogs victims for taking a sip of alcohol. Infidels are subject to Islamic law. women there must have permission from their male guardians to marry or remarry.
How is *any* of this rejecting Islamic supremacy? I wish it was, but it is not.
CogitoErgoSum says
The Koran makes it clear that Christians and Jews are not equal to Muslims. Read Surah 9 and specifically verse 9:29. That verse was never abrogated by any other verse. The command for Muslims to fight the Christians and Jews is in effect until all the Christians and Jews have been forced into humble submission to Islam and willingly submit tribute (the Jizya) to their superiors, the Muslims. For the Muslims to reject Islamic supremacy over the Christians and Jews would be for Muslims to reject the words of Allah in the Koran. Do you really think they will do that? No, Muslims will never accept that they are the equals of Christians and Jews. Allah has declared that Muslims are the best of people and all others are to be humbled. There will be constant fighting until the Muslims achieve total victory and total supremacy and become the rulers over the Earth or … Islam is wiped from the face of the Earth. My hope is that the latter will occur but none of us living today is likely to see it happen. We will see only more fighting and still more fighting – unless men like this foolish Pope convince us to surrender meekly without a fight.

Rev. Mark Durie (PhD) wrote that the Abrahamic fallacy is ‘DHIMMI THEOLOGY’:
“The Origins of the Expression “Abrahamic Religion” (by Mark Durie)
I have been tracing the origins of the concept of “Abrahamic faith” in reference to monotheistic dialogue. Its most important and influential promoter was a Lebanese Maronite priest, YouakimMoubarac, following in the footsteps of his teacher, Massignon, who regarded Islam as a faith of genuine revelation — and Muhammad as a prophet — but in more primitive stage than Christianity.
Moubarac devoted his 1951 doctoral dissertation Abraham dans le Coran to the topic of Abraham in Islam. He was subsequently a significant influence on Vatican II’s policy on Islam, which has shaped the current Catholic catechism, which sees Islam and Christianity as united by adoration of the one God:
841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.” [330]
An Abrahamic utopia and dhimmi theology
Moubarac saw in the theme of Abrahamic faith a force which could unite Christians, Jews and Arabs into one family. Thus he wrote that one should “promote an egalitarian Palestine in which Jews, Christians and Muslims demonstrate together its abrahamic and ecumenical vocation.”
This vision of a political and spiritual reconciliation between faiths based upon a shared identity as followers of “Abrahamic faith” is fundamentally flawed. In fact it leads to Islamization, as a society based on the Quranic concept of Abrahamic faith is a sharia state, which by virtue of the structure of Islamic law, is devoted to the decline and ultimate disappearance of Christianity and Judaism.
It should not be surprising that a Christian from a dhimmi background, from a nation traumatized by the massacres of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, would produce an quintessential dhimmi theology, one which offers to Christians the option of serving Islam by embracing the legitimacy of Islam and thus of Muslim power. Bat Ye’or writes:
Moubarac interpreted the end of Christian political power [i.e. in Lebanon] as a religious liberation which would restore to the Church the vocation that Islam had assigned to it: a service of charity and love toward Muslims. (Islam and Dhimmitude p. 183.)
The promotion of “Abrahamic faith” as the touchstone of interfaith religious dialogue was linked in its origins with a vision of a Middle Eastern utopia in which Christians, Muslims and Jews would live side by side in unity. In reality this vision encouraged Islamophile church leaders in Lebanon to fight alongside Palestinians to destroy the political and national structures of Christianity in Lebanon. The ultimate outcome has been, and will continue to be, the progressive Islamization of that nation and destruction of the church – in accordance with the internal goals of Islamic doctrine, a process which is now reaching end-game stage in Iraq and perhaps also Syria.”

In my country Germany the denomination you bel8ng to f.e. “Roman Catholic” takes a lot of tax from.your monthly paycheck to stuff down the gullets of either the evangelical or catholic churches.
All along they do “crap” for the Christians but pamper muslims. The obviousely now muslim pope had no better to do than go wash dictator Erdogans feet & kiss (yuck) his head a few month before taking the Hagia Sofia from Christianity and as we can see he has learned nothing. Now he is serving to the muslims again. It should remind any GERMAN of the behavior by the churchleaders during WW II when instead of defending Christianity and their church, they started services by raising the hand to Hitler and kissing up to the SS!
I was a catholic and *left the catholic cult for the behavior of this pope no longer serves Christianity* !
So I changed my denomination to “Christian” w/no church affiliation. You wouldn’t believe how many calls I received from my local archdiocese trying to convince me to not give up my catholic faith…as now I am important as they NO longer receive a cent of my earnings NOTHING. They can call all they want, I am done with these backstabbers and told them that no Christian churchleader I’d respect would ever serve Islam. And they still try to work me as thousands of others left the churches for bowing to these Muslims.
What a despicable, disgusting behavior from a pope!
To me that has the same value than joining the church in San Francisco, which worships the Antichrist. He does nothing else all awhilst they (Erdogan/muslims) took the next large church and this moron, the pope, again shakes hands and plays kissy kissy with these rotten apples!
