This is effectively pronouncing a death sentence on any lawyer who defends Yahaya Aminu-Sharif. Apostasy carries the death penalty in Islamic law. This is based on the Qur’an: “They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.” (Qur’an 4:89)
A Sunni hadith depicts Muhammad saying: “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him” (Bukhari 9.84.57). This is not just a Sunni idea; the death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law according to all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
This is still the position of all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence, both Sunni and Shi’ite. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the most renowned and prominent Muslim cleric in the world, has stated: “The Muslim jurists are unanimous that apostates must be punished, yet they differ as to determining the kind of punishment to be inflicted upon them. The majority of them, including the four main schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali) as well as the other four schools of jurisprudence (the four Shiite schools of Az-Zaidiyyah, Al-Ithna-‘ashriyyah, Al-Ja’fariyyah, and Az-Zaheriyyah) agree that apostates must be executed.”
Qaradawi also once famously said: “If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment, Islam wouldn’t exist today.”
“Any Muslim Lawyer Who Defends Kano Musician Sentenced To Death For Blasphemy Has Renounced His Faith, Cleric Says,” Sahara Reporters, September 6, 2020 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
Chairman of Sokoto State Ulama Forum of Izala, Sheikh Abubakar Usman Mabera, has said that any lawyer, who defends a Kano State-based musician, Yahaya Aminu-Sharif, recently convicted for blasphemy by a Sharia court has renounced his Islamic faith.
According to Tribune Newspaper, the Islamic cleric affirmed that a competent Sharia court in Kano had sentenced the musician to death for blasphemy.
He noted that blasphemy in Islam was a capital punishment by death, saying, “As a Muslim, the law applies to the singer.
The cleric, who is also the Chief Imam of Mallam Buhari Dan Shehu Mosque in Sokoto, called on Muslim lawyers to be careful in defending the convict.
According to him, since a competent Sharia court in Kano had established the fact that Aminu-Sharif had insulted the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), he must subject himself to the punishment prescribed by Allah.
The Islamic cleric then called on the people to go back to their creator and seek for His forgiveness, saying, all these calamities bedevilling the country were signs of wrongdoings.
“For all indications, God is not happy with us and we have to repent because He alone is the answer to our woes,” he said.
Recall that Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had said if within the stipulated time the convict did not appeal, he would sign his death sentence….

“….any Muslim lawyer who defends man accused of blasphemy has left Islam”
Absolutely ridiculous statement. Anyone who’s left islam is ipso facto no longer a muslim, so therefore how could they possibly be a ‘muslim lawyer’? One therefore presumers that amazingly perceptive specimen seems to be saying either that, under islamic law, no lawyer would support a right to a defence against any accusation of blasphemy, or that a lawyer of an islamic persuasion would refuse to defend anyone accused under any secular law. And, consequently, no muslim can therefore be trusted to uphold any concept of fairness or impartiality in the dispensation of justice and it therefore has to be left up to someone else to try to do the job properly.
Well, that’s no more than we should expect from this antediluvian ideology.

Speaking of blasphemy…
I’d be willing to bet my bank account that most JW fans are guilty of blasphemy according to the muslim babies who hate us for allah. Not because we deserve it, but for speaking truths they can’t bear to hear. I’ve said things about their fake prophet and psycho god that would get me murdered faster than you can say “stupid idiot bigots.” I burned a koran once, that alone can get one killed. And really, I could still be killed by a jihadist, it’s not that hard to crack an email and find an address. I’ve recieved mysterious email “invitations” from a local muslim “outreach” group that runs locally, how did they get my email? Do they know my address? Do they know I think islam is a fascist ideology masquerading as a religion? Muslims murder people like me, they are like killer babies who can’t handle the truth about their own retarded beliefs.
In effect we already have blashpemy laws in the West. It comes in the form of ostracization, getting fired, jailed, or murdered. Sharia is not fully codified in our lands, but it might as well be. Nobody is immune from muslim intimidation, one cartoon can get you killed or driven into obscurity (remember Garland?) Leftists have facilitated this sad state of affairs with their complicity and appeasement, Britian is a prime example and it’s beginning to blossom in America too. Islamic ideology is the same whether it resides in a Nigerian hut of Africa or the “grandest” mosque in the world, it’s still a religiopolitical construct built on blood, hate, and murder–history bears me out. We can no longer just shake our heads in disbelief at these retards in some far off nation, it now lives among us. Muslims have imported the same ideological filth that’s been terrorizing the M.E. and other parts of the world for centuries. The only difference is that our crumbling democracy is still a superior force that prevents a full-out, formal enactment of sharia in America. But the day is coming, and we’ll have no one to blame but ourselves.
If we allow ourselves to become like servile donkeys for a violent, retarded religion then we disgrace ourselves and the human rights we know is superior to their demon mentality. I believe it’s a sin to do such a thing. We can’t be cowards like the leftists who take it up the a$$ for islam, we are morally obligated to take the high road and defend the best in our own humanity, for all of humanity.

Disagree … it is not at all about FEELINGS, sir. It is entirely a LEGAL MATTER.
It is a question of what is PERMITTED (halal) and what is IMPERMISSIBLE (haram) to mention.
Sharia law places a death sentence on anyone who ‘mentions something impermissible’ about Islam.
Sharia law does not forgive a blasphemer.
That is why Islam is incompatible with freedom of expression.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
Well of course that’s true, Mortimer. Their brains are hardwired for the laws of muhammad and allah. Thank you for mentioning that, that’s a good point worth making. It’s their so-called religion that compels them to act like angry apes over banannas. Islam is the source of their emotions of anger and “hurt” feelings over so many things we “infidels” do. They feel perfectly justified in those feelings because we have violated their god’s laws. That’s why they kill and terrorize us, because we have violated their god’s laws–it’s a legal matter to them. So you’re perfectly right, but only from their POV.
But I think you’re being rather disingenuous here by nitpicking the point. As a Westerner in a free nation, I–WE– don’t have to give a shit about their god’s laws, it’s not a “legal matter” to me. As a free man, an atheist, who lives under a different set of laws–OURS–I do not have to forsake my rights for them (anymore than they should have to forsake allah for us). And it’s the same in our own nation(s) too, the “laws” of their religion have no right to influence government as it does. So from my POV the only thing that really matters is their hurt feelings, because the laws they live by bear no burden of responsibility on how I think on the matter. I suppose to satisfy you, I could say something like, “Speaking truths offends their god’s laws,” but at the end of the day it’s still their “hurt’ and angry feelings that kills us. So it isn’t just a LEGAL MATTER (as you so boldly stated), it’s as much if not more an emotional one. But whether we call it a “legal” matter or one of emotionality one thing is clear to me, they have no business telling us how to think and feel in our own nations. And with that I’m sure you would agree.

Islam is incompatible with modernity. Lawyers should be leading us in saying so.
Islam rejects our legal system entirely, except when Muslims benefit from it and Islamic supremacism is advanced.
Keith O says
The simplicity of this is astounding.
These statements prevent anyone from having a legal defense against a blasphemy charge, even if the charge is untrue, which most of them are.
This is the perfect way to silence any form of criticism or even asking simple questions.
Ask an inconvenient question? you die.
Be accused of doing something wrong! You die.
Defend someone who is falsely accused! You die.
For the mullahs, no pesky dissidents, so problem solved and grasp on power still strong.

Nigeria: Muslim cleric says any Muslim lawyer who defends man accused of blasphemy has left Islam
………………..
And we know what *that* means–that the lawyer can be murdered, just like the “blasphemer” himself. This happened to Asia Bibi’s lawyer in Pakistan, as well, who had to flee the country.
Have I said how much I hate Islam?
