This call by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is a sensible and effective one which should be implemented not only in the Philippines, but in all nations that are seeking to curb the spread of the jihad ideology.
The outrage over this call from the National Ulama Cooperation of the Philippines (NUCP) is nothing more than a smokescreen. The spread of the jihad ideology via madrassas (and mosques also) is a problem that is not confined to the Philippines; it is a global issue. It is also a common practice for Ulama organizations and Muslim Brotherhood groups — which operate as if they have a mandate to shield Islamic doctrine from scrutiny, so as eventually to establish supremacy and subjugate kaffirs — to push back against any resistance to the spread of the jihad ideology, which is a part of normative Islam.
“AFP chief’s statement on monitoring Islamic schools draws brickbats from Muslim leaders,” by Jeoffrey Maitem, Mindanao Inquirer, October 20, 2020:
KORONADAL CITY—The country’s biggest Muslim religious organization on Tuesday (Oct. 20) slammed a statement attributed to the chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) supposedly calling for monitoring of Islamic schools nationwide following intelligence reports that these were being used as breeding ground for terrorists.
Ebrahim Ismael, board member of the National Ulama Cooperation of the Philippines (NUCP), told the Inquirer that AFP Chief Gen. Gilbert Gapay’s statement would only complicate the relationship between civilians and the security sector.
Ismael said it was “wrong to say” that Islamic schools were being used to recruit terrorists. “I am a product of madrasah and extremism was not taught to us,” said Ismael, referring to Islamic schools.
“Militants who operate Islamic schools may be using it, but Islamic schools, in general, are not,” he added.
Aleem Solaiman, deputy chief minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), described Gapay’s statement as irresponsible and which should not be tolerated as it would just generate animosity between Muslims and Christians.
“We refuse to accept the irresponsible and hateful statement,” Solaiman said. “I can attest to the fact that terrorism was never and has never been taught in its slightest forms in the madrasah,” he added.
Uztadz Hakimi Dimakuta, a prominent Muslim religious leader in Lanao, also questioned Gapay’s statement. “I learned how to be a good citizen and how to deal with my fellow Christians,” he said, recalling his time as a madrasah student.
Last week, Gapay said the security sector would monitor Islamic schools to prevent infiltration by Islamic State. Internet-savvy IS propagandists, Gapay said, had been enticing children to terror-related content through social media.
“We are now strengthening and enhancing our program as far as prevention, when encountering violent extremism,” Gapay said…..

If “terrorism was never and has never been taught in its slightest forms in the madrasah” the Ulama should welcome with open arms the monitoring of their teaching. They have nothing to hide, apparently.

Apparently in Singapore mosques are closely monitored, and have to have the texts of their sermons scrutinised by state authorities.

Now that is a step in the right direction.

There is little comfort knowing that these wise procedures were entrenched by the Old Guard of Lee KY and Goh CT. The present generation especially the Prime Minister are infused with Political Correctness and cowed by the surrounding sea of Islamic insanity.
Brigadier Lee was responsible for arm-twisting his MPs to vote for a hijab-clad President while persuading the public that the position was inconsequential and powerless. Being Cambridge-educated does carry with it the European disease of vacuous dhimmitude.
The Muslim population can already sense the weakness in the present government and are starting to make Islamic demands. Singapore may not be as secure as we think – they do not have the Israeli privilege of regular wars to remind them of the dangers.

If the schools are not monitored closely, the Islamists will run them unopposed and create an army of young jihadists ready to kill and die for Allah.
The jihad doctrine of Islam cannot be reformed out of Islam, but keeping young people from hearing it is only a temporary measure.

largest Muslim organization slams Armed Forces chief for calling for monitoring of Islamic schools
These muslim schools and mosques are centers of propaganda for islam, indoctrinating the young and gullible to love supremacy for religion. And we’re constantly getting reports of their religious filth creeping into our public schools too. We’re told they’re just teaching islam as a religious study, but it’s more like indoctrination. They’re teaching that islam is a divine revelation worthy of the greatest respect. The big problem I have with that, as an atheist and a moral human being, is that islam’s unreasoned filth teaches bigotry and terror as a religious devotion. Not only is that morally wrong and intellectually deceitful as a teaching, it’s wrong in the pragmatic sense of the real world violence it brings to humanity. We only have to consider the daily terror and suffering for islam to know I’m speaking the truth. In my mind this is little different from Nazism, both display a superiority complex for iniquitous concepts that moral people find abhorrent and dangerous. Except one is for religious supremacy, the other racial.
My point is, a big cause of the muslim violence and bigotry that plagues us are the mosques and schools that condition them to love the violent bigotry their god taught. Muslims are waging all manner of jihad against us–from subversion to cartoon murder–for those teachings, hence my point is made. It’s time our government consider more stringent oversight (I prefer they be closed) of their mosques and schools that proffer violent supremacist ideas as above our constitution and freedoms. Islam is not peaceful and worthy of religious protection in the context of so much real world terror for allah. It deserves to be treated with contempt and ridicule in the same way the racial supremacy of Nazism and the KKK deserve it too. And moreover, it must be treated as an existential threat whenever and wherever it affects our peace and security. And in my opinion we crossed that line 6981 days ago when muslims massacred our people for allah. These schools and mosques don’t deserve a gentle hand, they deserve a harsh kick in the balls. If what they taught didn’t exist then there would have been no 9/11 or 37,000+ acts of muslim terror since. A smart gardener does not cultivate the weeds that destroy the flowers, he digs them out by the roots. Our nation can not cultivate the weeds of islam and still expect a future free from the violence and bigotry it teaches. This should be an inference that even the stupidest people can understand.

Terrorism in the Philippines began much longer than twenty years ago and I bet that Aguinaldo would certainly be calling for strict monitoring of madrasahs throughout the nation. In most countries, authorities monitor state schools to ensure that the students are receiving adequate information. They wish for their children to grow into adulthood with the tools to enable them to contribute to the national welfare as well as their own comfort. For Ebrahim Ismael to complain that terrorist doctrinaire centers should not be monitored is complete non-sense.

Yes, you just said it right! Of course that should be the purpose of educating our young, and thank you for saying it. And do we want our young people to be taught that a violent and bigoted religion is wiser and more virtuous than our own constitution? our laws? our human rights? our most valued freedoms? The answer should be obvious, but not to Biden who wants to “work in partnership” with them, and who says he wished “we were taught more in our schools about the Islamic faith.” That fool would suck Mo’s **** if he thought it would garner him a vote.

Indeed, but is there any oversight at all?
There appears to be no central state authority for overseeing mosques.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
Indeed, but is there any oversight at all?
Well I’m not sure, but one would think the Dept of Education should provide some oversight, especially if their schools get federal funds which some most certainly do. One islamic theology school in Cali turned down a $800,000 grant because of Trump’s inauguration, they didn’t want to accept the money from his administration (private donations ended up almost equaling that anyway). So if that’s any indication then they’re getting a lot of money to corrupt the minds of young people. There was a controversy in Minnesota about the Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy after a Star and Tribune reporter, Katherine Kerstin stated, “TIZA is an islamic school, funded by Minnesota taxpayers.” Apparently a substitute teacher, Getz, noted that “prayer I saw was not voluntary,” and “The kids were corralled by adults and required to go to the assembly where prayer occurred.” More and more islam is being taught in our public schools under the guise of “multiculturalism,” but too often it resembles indoctrination; and their private schools are receiving federal funds for teaching that a religious terrorist was a great man and his god is greater than all the rest, a god who was himself a psychopath who taught murder for religious bigotry. Such schools should not be receiving public funds to teach any more than the KKK should be receiving funds to spread racial hatred, not in my racist, bigot, islamophobic opinion. 😉
