“The principal of the school distanced himself from the incident and said that the photographer made a mistake.”
Of course. It always is. But have you ever noticed that all these “mistakes” always go in the same direction?
“Swedish Pupil Banned From Wearing Cross in School Photo While Muslims Allowed to Keep Their Veils,” by Igor Kuznetsov, Sputnik News, October 12, 2020 (thanks to Henry):
A 15-year-old student was not allowed to wear a cross when posing for a group photo in a Swedish school earlier this autumn. Other students, however, were allowed to wear their religious symbols, the Christian newspaper Dagen reported.
“I wore a purple sweater with a collar, my cross hung on the outside. I had a rather long chain and a cross in metal with Jesus on it”, the boy told Dagen.
According to the 15-year-old, who wished to remain anonymous, a female photographer asked him to take the cross off, venturing that it would be offensive to include it in the school photo. The boy was admittedly shocked and mortified, but obeyed and put the cross in his pocket.
“I’m not the type who likes to quarrel. I gave her a meaningful look, so that she understood that I thought it was strange. I know that those who wear a veil did not have to take it off. Of course, I wish nothing that that would happen. But if I was forced to take off my cross, the same should apply to other religious symbols,” the boy explained.
The 15-year-old says that he and his family are active in the Church of Sweden and that everyone in the class has known for a long time that he is a Christian, which is completely accepted and unproblematic.
The incident has now been reported to the Discrimination Ombudsman (DO) and the Children and Pupils’ Ombudsman (BEO).
“This may seem like a trifle. But ultimately it is about what kind of society we want and how much our religious freedom is worth. Then an event like this becomes serious and a matter of principle,” the boy’s father said. “It is not about us harbouring any resentment towards the school, but that it is important to react to the tone deafness that exists regarding religion, not least for Christian children and young people.”
He also suggested that the situation would have been completely different if a school photographer asked a student to take off their Muslim veil or a Jewish star of David.
“This would be a terrible abuse. But when it is a Christian symbol, then it doesn’t seem so dangerous,” he mused.
The principal of the school distanced himself from the incident and said that the photographer made a mistake. The photo company replied that the photographer had limited experience with school photography….

“Muslims (girls presumably) allowed to keep veils.” says Robert Spencer, in one of his most earth-shaking exposes of 2020.
I dare say the boys were allowed to keep their trousers. Mr S neglects to enlighten us on this point. Perhaps his in-depth investigation was interrupted.
Is Mr Spencer perhaps entering his second childhood?
Mauricio says
I don’t understand your point Rod, there is no need for an “in-depth” investigation. You wear a cross in a muslim country and you get beaten, you wear a hijab (which is muslim attire) in whatever country and nothing happens. If this school was going to forbid religious attire for the picture, they should have warned ALL people in advance, including girls with hijabs. Although I don’t agree with forbidding any religious attire at all.
FYI says
‘….”muslims(girls presumably)allowed to keep veils” says Robert Spencer… ‘
Where does it say that in the above article?
That is clearly made up.
Why would there be any need for an ‘in depth-investigation’?
Is ‘Rod’ perhaps entering his second Kindergarten?
Rufolino says
Rod’s “misunderstanding” is deliberate. Islam is built on lies.
Rod says
Sorry folks. I over-estimated your intelligence.
Let’s make it simple. Why get upset about girls, whether Christian, Calathumpian or Muslim, wearing a normal part of their clothing? Are you agitated by Sikhs in turbans, or Jews in funny hats?
Does your excitement suggest a hint of religious intolerance? (Does intolerance by a Swedish teacher justify mass intolerance of a pack of Muslim-hating bigots?)
And why does Spencer obsess about such trivialities?

—————–
To make it simple to you: “Mass intolerance” and “obsession with such trivialities” like you put it Rod, come first from muslim countries in which you are not even allow to show a small cross in your chest in public.
Our supposed “upsetting, agitation, excitement” (which is exaggerated on your behalf) comes from people in the west who seem so ignorant that they betray universal values and ideals, like this school people from Sweden.
FYI says
@mauricio
If anything we under-estimated rod’s ignorance and wrongly assumed he had some basic level of intelligence.
He doesn’t understand Irony:if anyone is obsessed about trivialities it is rod.
And attacking people who oppose Jihad by pretending it is about hatred of muslims is of course intolerance but that is to be expected from a muslim apologist with a leftist bias.
rod once said he used to go to church as a kid so he cannot be unfamiliar with the concept of ‘bearing false witness’,something he does all the time{as we see from his fabricated comment claiming it came from Mr Spencer}
So rod knows he is a liar.
Logic is not rod’s forte is it?
And ‘Jews in funny hats’?WOW.
What is funny about Jewish hats?
Who says Jews have ‘funny hats’?rod does.
Does his excitement show a hint of religious intolerance.. of Jews?
Who goes around going about Jews having ‘funny hats’?
muslims,nazis{rod’s troll buddy is pro hitler}..
Irony is not something rod gets.
Rod says
Mauricio, the argument that says “they are bigots, so it’s OK for me to be a bigot” doesn’t really hold water.
But at least you have a brain. FYI and a stream of unimaginative insults suggests that the brain might be lacking in some quarters. (e.g. Articles signed by Robert Spencer don’t “come from” Spencer, and he who says otherwise is a liar. Or, if you say some Jews have funny hats you’re a Muslim or a Nazi.)
As well as a Muslim or a Nazi, I’m also a “Muslim apologist” (never been defined as far as I know) and a proud Anti-Fascist. Getting hard to keep up.
gravenimage says
“Rod” implying that Robert Spencer is also Igor Kuznetsov and every other journalist cited here is of course absurd.
Mount Zion says
In the west there is religious freedom so there is no need for the school in the first place to forbid religious attire at all .
Giacomo Latta says
Relax, no one understands Rod. He can quite easily be on two sides of the same issue simultaneously.

@Giacoma Latta
rod is the personification of Cognitive Dissonance.
You have to be if you are a muslim apologist or a leftist.
{Or like allah in the koran,the god of Cognitive Dissonance, who can never make up his mind.
In koran 2:65 allah says the Jews are ‘ to be despised and hated’ yet in koran 45:16 allah insists the prophethood was given to the Children of Israel{=the Jews}allah also CURSES the Jews for believing in something Jews don’t actually believe in{That ‘Ezra is the son of allah’ koran 9:30}
So what sense does it make for allah to tell us on one hand* the prophethood was given to the Jews then tell us on the other hand the Jews are ‘to be despised and hated’?
That makes no sense at all!}
*BTW allah actually has TWO right hands.No wonder allah is cognitively dissonant:he can’t even get his own anatomy right.

“Rod” is a consistent apologist for Islam and Shari’ah. He will take whatever side of an issue he thinks will facilitate that.

Spot on, Mauricio… I think Rod must be in HIS second childhood…
Ade Fegan says
Rod needs his bumps felt !

I see that “Rod” here is now enforcing Shari’ah law–claiming that if girls don’t wear veils that they may as well be naked. *Ugh*.
But the fact is that *of course* the veil is a religious symbol.
And as FYI notes, “Rod” gins up a fake quote from Robert Spencer. He is rarely an honest actor here.
James Lincoln says
Rod,
Robert Spencer did not say that. It was said by by Igor Kuznetsov, Sputnik News.

Get the pic redone with the cross, and I aint even religious, but believe anyone can choose to be, with no interference from me or any other bossy git.
European pagan says
It’s not normal… this cross didn’t disturb anyone, his class accepted it. Muslims are afraid that they can go to hell if someone sees them without hijab, but if they respect it, they have to respect everyone, cross, pentacle, Sikh turban or a Buddha. Why do muslims have more rights than others?

Fred van de Bunt says
To proselytize is not allowed in muslim countries.
Publicly talking benevolent about anything else, exept islam religion, or wearing anything else publicly, apart from islam attire, is forbidden. Basically because it offences the soft hearted muslims in their religious believes.
So wearing a cross offences the gentile hearted muslim followers very deeply, same like the presence of a jew might have turned a soft hearted Nazi member of the Hitler jugend into a raving murderous imbecile not long ago.
By the way, raving murderous idiots are mentally sick people in western society: they need help. Wonder how WOII would have ended nowadays….?

The beast of satan the devil has much “authority” as foretold by Jesus in the Revelation for our time, and given to John by an angel (Revelation 13)
satan is the “original serpent, dragon,” and is being allowed to carry out his anger in these, his final days. The closer he gets to his end, the worse things will be for Christians…and everyone else, but in different ways…and the things we see happening in Sweden esp, but everywhere on earth, are proof of the Scripture’s accuracy.

More of the usual pathetic pandering to islam and yet giving Christianity a hard time. Absolutely pathetic caving in by the sell out merchants and it seems to happen way too often in all our western societies.

something smells fishy here . If I am a salesperson and someone walks into my store , I do not feel obligated to lecture him on what he should wear or not . My job would be to sell whatever it is that I sell in that store . Now when the scool principal says that the photographer made a mistake , I don’t buy it for a second , she must have been coached in advance and yes I’m in favor of a full investigation , when a muslina has to take off her religious veil crap symbol for a mug shot then all hell brakes loose and eventually the poor dear get’s awarded a certain ammount of money for having endured the incredible hardship of having to remove her veil , now when a young boy in a christian country has to take off his necklace because it depicts a cross then we just wanna dismiss it as a mistake . No way , I would be in favor of a full investigation given the fact that in certain muslim countries you get beaten up and even killed for wearing a cross . To the photograpger and the school principal I say this ;” You should be ashamed of yourself , you are a traitor of your own people for denying your own culture and your own heritage , Shame on you .” To write something like that in newspapers across the country and decry it on national TV would act as a strong deterrent for all the once who care about the feeling of muslums because let’s face it there is only one religious group in the west to which the cross could be offensive .
gravenimage says
School photographers *have* been asked to police what students wear for their school photos–shirts with inappropriate slogans, for instance (profanity, etc). But for her to prevent a child from wearing a cross is insane.

There is a strong tendency to discriminate against Christian Swedes and Swedes in general in Sweden, and hate crimes against the Swedish population, including humiliation is commonplace like rape of women as well as men, urinating in their mouths etc. is commonplace.

I wonder what the Islamopandering photographer would have ordered the teenage boy to do had he been wearing clothes with any Scandinavian flag on it. After all, all these flags have a Nordic Cross pattern incorporated. Would she demand an immediate strip? Does Islamopandering go so far as to deny pride in one’s own history?
Flo says
Guys….. don’t worry about Rod. There will always be 1 in the crowd. It’s all over and was a mistake by the photographer. She will take this as a learning curve. All religions are welcome. Just don’t push it on anyone. Matter fix!!!
gravenimage says
Flo, “Rod” has been whitewashing Islam here for many years.
As for this being a mistake by the photographer, I doubt it. There has been inceasing pandering to Islam and a crackdown on Christians for the past couple of decades, especially in Europe. I think the principle of the school just fell back on this explanation when taken to task for it.
Then, the idea that everything in Sweden is “fix” is mistaken–do you know that Sweden is sinking under the violent onslaught of Muslim immigration?
