Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict ‘has all the markings of an ongoing Christian genocide’

Nov 18, 2020 11:00 am By Robert Spencer 47 Comments

The world yawns. This doesn’t fit the establishment media narrative, which holds that Muslims are always victims and Christians always aggressors, and so down the memory hole it will go.

“Experts: Armenia-Azerbaijan Conflict Is Christian Genocide Under the Pretext of War,” by Victor Gaetan, National Catholic Register, November 16, 2020:

Under the cover of a global pandemic, benefiting from U.S. self-absorption during the presidential election, a battle that raged for 44 days against a compact community of Armenians — some 150,000 people territorially enclosed by Azerbaijan — has ended.

The region under siege is widely known as Nagorno-Karabakh, but its citizens voted to call it the Republic of Artsakh in 2017.

Describing it as an “unspeakably painful agreement,” Armenia’s prime minister signed a peace deal Nov. 9 with the aggressor, Azerbaijan. In Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, people responded by rioting in Parliament, while people danced in the streets in Baku, Azerbaijan’s seaside capital…

To educated observers and the victims themselves, this year’s aggression has all the markings of an ongoing Christian genocide: initiated by Ottoman Turks in 1895; intensified by the Young Turk Movement between 1915 and 1923; continued against Greeks in the 1950s; and now reignited as part of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s dream of restoring Ottoman power and territory.

Evidence of genocide is especially petrifying to the Armenians because it suggests Azerbaijan and Turkey will not stop until they’ve “cleansed” this cradle of Christianity of its indigenous people.

Proof of the connection is startlingly overt: When Azerbaijan dropped a bomb on Oct. 8 through the dome of Shushi’s Holy Savior Cathedral (known to Armenians as Ghazanchetsots), one of the largest Armenian churches in the world, they targeted a sacred place damaged in the notorious 1920 attack when Azerbaijani soldiers set the Armenian half of the town on fire, killing, raping and driving out its inhabitants.

This past is hidden, and the intentional obliteration of Armenia’s Christian culture denied, by the powerful family that has controlled Azerbaijan for two generations, the Aliyevs….

Asked about Turkey’s motives, American Enterprise Institute defense analyst Michael Rubin is blunt: “primarily, animus toward Armenians as a people and Christianity as a religion.”

Rubin told an IDF news conference that Erdogan has no historical claim to Artsakh and no security excuse for fomenting war. Besides being anti-Christian, his motives are political and nationalistic: “Turkey is on the warpath, and it will get worse as Erdogan deflects attention from his failing economy and nears the anniversary of the Turkish republic” founded in 1923.

Aram Hamparian, executive director of the Armenian National Committee of America, summarized, “What’s at stake here is Erdogan trying to finish the work of 1915.”

Recounting the Armenian peoples’ losses at Turkey’s hands as “two-thirds of our people and nine-tenths of our territory,” Hamparian reframed the current situation in the South Caucasus as “not a conflict but a crime,” requiring a swift response from the West.

A representative of the Greek American community agreed. “We’re approaching the centennial of a republic built on the bones and blood of Christian minorities. Today, Artsakh is an inconvenience to Turkey’s idea of dominance in the region,” said Endy Zemenides, executive director of the Hellenic American Leadership Council….

It has to be said that religions apart from Islam are doing a poor job of protecting their fellow religionists.

Christian countries are failing to help here and India is failing to help Hindus in Pakistan. Buddhists are failing to group around China:s aggression against the Dalai Lama.

India has already passed a Citizenship Amendment Act, that fastracks applications for refugee status and citizenship to non-Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. What more do you expect them to do – invade those countries and snatch non-Muslim girls from there? India can be faulted for failing to protect Hindu women at home in India itself, as happened w/ Nikita Tomar, but they’ve gone as far as legal to protect non-Muslims in their neighborhood. They do need to get started on the NRC – hopefully if they win the Left Bengal elections next year, they can get started on that

Armenia’s problem is that the only ‘Christian’ countries anywhere near them are Russia and Georgia, who either have problems of their own or are apathetic to their plight. And they’re too far from here to make the case that a war-weary US should intervene on their behalf

India ( Hindus in particular) are not very vocal about what is happening in Pakistan and Bangladesh..CAA is only for those who entered India before Dec 2014 If I am not mistaken. It does not address the current Hindu citizens in Pakistan.

No law of country X can address citizens of country Y. Current Hindu citizens of those 3 countries would have to first come to India before the CAA rules kick in. Also, the 2014 rule was only there b’cos the overall law is that there is a 5 year waiting period b/w seeking refuge and being able to apply for citizenship: it doesn’t mean that if a Hindu from Sind arrives in Mumbai, they’ll be turned back to Pakistan

I disagree. The timing of the first attack on Sep 29th was not an accident. There were several signs that Trump and Putin were setting up Turkey (ERDOGAN) for a fall, but that’s on hold now. Russian troops who arrived days ago will destroy any ISIS Jihadis that Turkey brought to the region … BTW – Some of the high-tech military equipment provided to Turkey weeks ago was thanks to Canadian PM Justin TURDO, who ignored CDN LAW by doing so.

Let us now condemn all the nations who support Azerbaijan in this genocide!

Turkey is supporting Azerbaijan and so is israel. Let us condemn both!

Wait, Robert has been strangely silent on Israel’s support for Azerbaijan. Strange, why wouldn’t he condemn those who support the genocide of Christians?

Jihadwatchers are also strangely silent on this, they seem loath to even admonish Israel a little bit for this.

ELI I totally agree with you I am disgusted with the genocide of Armenians in Artaksh seeing Armenians Ethnicly cleansed from there ancestral land was painful and disturbing I’m disgusted with Israel for aiding genocide on Armenians by selling drones to Azerbaijan and won’t forgive or forget this also I am disgusted with Russia a Orthodox Christian country and the West to for standing back and doing nothing and also demonising indeginous Armenians as illegal occupiers in there own ancestral land of 3000 years. Armenians where brave and fought like lions but they where up against all the evil of the world Azerbaijan Turkey Syrian and Pakistani terrorist and UN was part of this genocide for not recognising Artaksh it was 3 million Armenians against 100 million Muslims with Israeli NATO Russian weapons it was not a fair fight Artaksh Armenians had no help it was a genocide I also noticed to some Anti Armenian sentiment on jihadwatch unfortunately very disappointing.

Muslim apologist ELI is not disgusted by the genocide of the Armenians–he is just trying to get people here to condemn Israel.

Israel *should* stop dealing with Azerebaijan–but mostly what ELI here wants is for the victims of Islam to turn on each other. Makes that genocide a lot easier if they do…

There is another difference b/w Israel and Turkey. Israel wasn’t the one that encouraged Azerbaijan to take a bite out of Armenia. Turkey did. Things were quiet b/w Armenia and Azerbaijan all these years, but Turkey decided to whip up Azeri sentiments against Armenia, and back them in their invasion.

I condemn what Russia did, but a part of me does understand what they are dealing w/: they stand to risk losing all their Turkic neighbors to Turkey in terms of political influence. If things ever go sour b/w Turkey and Russia, Moscow would have a lot of foes on its southern border – Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan… It’s probably why they are doing what they can to keep those countries happy. Ultimately, I doubt that it’ll work

It was a few weeks ago – I was the first to comment on a JW post in which Western Civilization was described as Judeo-Christian, but the comment didn’t appear. Tried several times, but nope.

And how does “Judeo-Christian” Civilization differ from Christian Civilization? Can you name a “Judeo-Christian” king, for example, as opposed to a Christian king? Or a “Judeo-Christian” value, as opposed to a Christian value?

The basis of Western civilization is both Judaic and Christian–Christianity’s core values are Judaic. You can ignore or deny this if you so desire, of course. That doesn’t change its truth, though.

NATO Turkey is using its mainly US and EU-supplied weapons against an insignificant Christian country.

Because these are just Christian victims who are as worthless as animals according to the Teachings, the west can`t be bothered. Neither can the Islamic Vatican, nor the UN or the Islamic Democrats in the US. Georgia can ill afford to antagonize the Russians who support Azerbaijan for the sake of oil logistics. Anyway Putin claims chunks of Georgia for racist reasons – politics of convenience.

Armenia is actually screwed – nobody wants to save them. Isa said only the strong shall inherit the earth and every nation agrees.

And the UN has no reason to even exist – what is it good for ? Totally irrelevant organization.

Except that Turkey is a NATO member, while Armenia ain’t. So if NATO were to pick a side, it would be against the hapless Armenians.

Armenia is SOL, since Europe has abandoned its Christian roots, and Russia sees more to gain by pandering to Azerbaijan. Their best hope is to do something like AQ Khan did for Pakistan, secretly build up a nuclear arsenal and one fine day, threaten both Azerbaijan and Turkey w/ it

It is very rare for any comment to be spammed unless it contains profanity or calls for violence. Sometimes a comment does have to wait to be approved, though, if it (say) has more than two links or has lots of ALL CAPS or something similar, since these features often but not always indicate spam.

I’ve seen comments on other platforms to the effect that Armenia should not look to Russia or Western nations for support. Instead, they say, it should enter into a “partnership” with its immediate neighbours, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

A partnership involving a lamb, two wolves and a donkey. I wonder how that would pan out? lol (Not really though.)

They shouldn’t do that, since Turkey and Azerbaijan are obviously their enemies. Ironically, the best friends that Armenia has in this case are the anti-Turkic Arabs. Iran used to be pro-Armenia in this dispute, but they recently switched support to Azerbaijan before flipping back to neutral

But yeah, Russia is trying to stave off increasing Turkish influence in its Turkic neighbors, and therefore deems it necessary to tacitly support Azerbaijan against Armenia

Armenia’s best option is to do what Pakistan did in the 90s: smuggle enough material and know-how, and make itself a secret nuclear arsenal, and one fine day, suddenly reveal it to the world and threaten Turkey and Azerbaijan to back off!

Muslims have not missed a single opportunity to attack a non-Muslim neighbor for 1400 years now. The pattern is always the same 1) Wait for the right opportunity, 2) Attack, kill and rape, 3) Destroy all of the Churches and other landmarks that clearly show this was not Muslim land, 4) Move in your own people and claim it is your ancestral land.
I know of one apt solution to this. Move all of the Muslims in Europe to the far side of the Straits of Bosphorus, build a huge wall and tell them that if they return to Europe it will be upon pain of death. The few remaining non-Muslim peoples in the Middle East could then re-occupy Constantinople.
