The Institute of Economics and Peace says that its “research is used extensively by governments, academic institutions, think tanks, non‑governmental organisations and by intergovernmental institutions such as the OECD, The Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Bank and the United Nations.” Just so you know where it’s coming from.
In any case, note the sleight of hand here. “Far-right terrorism” is compared with the Islamic State. The Islamic State is one of a great many jihad organizations worldwide, yet it alone is being compared with what is presumably several different organizations lumped together as “far-right terrorism.” The threat of al-Qaeda and other jihad groups would make the jihad threat substantially greater, but that is not the objective of this study.
Also, it would be important to know how the Institute of Economics and Peace evaluated the available data in light of the recent revelation that a US terror database classifies 9/11 jihadis as ‘White/Caucasian non-Hispanic,’ and 9/11 victims as killed by whites. Is that how it arrived at the conclusion that “far-right terrorism” was actually a larger threat than the Islamic State?
Note also that Antifa and Black Lives Matter have rioted violently in Portland, Seattle, Kenosha, Wisconsin, New York City, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and elsewhere, and “far-Left terrorism” somehow never gets noticed, while the handful of actual “far-right terrorists” that do exist haven’t been burning down cities and vowing revolution. That also reveals the agenda of this “study.”
“Far-right terrorism bigger threat to West than Islamic State – study,” by Alexandra Brzozowski, Euractiv.com, November 25, 2020:
Global deaths from terrorism have fallen for a fifth consecutive year, according to the 2020 Global Terrorism Index, but far-right attacks have increased by 250% globally, to a level not seen in the last 50 years, with the pandemic likely to exacerbate the trend.
Deaths from terrorism fell by 15% around the world last year to under 14,000, a 59% decrease since 2014, according to the report issued by the Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP) on Wednesday (25 November).
It summarises global trends in terrorism and ranks countries in order of those most affected in terms of both casualties and economic costs in 2019.
The MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) recorded the largest regional improvement in terrorism for the second consecutive year, recording the lowest number of deaths since 2003, with this year’s pandemic likely to extend the trend.
The decrease was partly due to the collapse of Islamic State territories and the subsequent de-escalation of conflicts in the Middle East.
However, the number of far-right terrorist acts has risen by 250% since 2014. When it comes to fatalities, the increase was even more than 700% within five years, with 89 people killed in 2019.
There are now more right-wing attacks than at any other time in the past 50 years, with 13 far-right terrorist attacks that had each killed more than 10 people, compared to 24 Islamist attacks, and three linked to other ideologies, the report found.
“As a new decade begins, we see new terrorist threats. The rise in right-wing extremism in the West and the deterioration in the Sahel are prime examples,” said the Institute’s Executive Director Steve Killelea.
“As we enter a new decade we are seeing new threats of terrorism emerge. The rise of the far-right in the West and the deteriorations in the Sahel are prime examples,” he said.
“Additionally, as seen in the recent attacks in France and Austria, many smaller groups sympathetic to ISIL philosophies are still active,” Killea added….

I tried to go to the site and find the data but was unable. So, let’s see, maybe 30,000 have been slaughtered in Nigeria alone the last 10 yrs. And so on and so forth going around the globe. In India, how many have been slaughtered by Jihadists? In Russia? In Europe” and so on and so on, Syria, Iraq,, Iran….. Where’s their data?

From what I can find the Institute of Economics and Peace is supported by Soros, the UN, and other New World Order groups.
So, no data is needed, mgoldberg, to support their “findings”.

I took courses in anti-terrorism. In all of the texts that listed the different kinds of terror groups and the different groups in each cat, there were those of whom most of Americans have never heard…because they have hardly made a blip on any radar; and in the past twenty years, some have dwindled to a very few members who live quiet lives and without causing any trouble.
However, many are listed in the cat of “White supremacist” or “right-wing” …because they don’t want the government running every aspect of their lives; with some of these basing their belief on a misunderstanding of the Bible.
These groups are really ****not**** carrying out any terror acts and are mostly groups, that in the past, were investigated for not paying taxes, etc.
It’s much like the ALF and the ELF, which groups at one time in the past, made threats and sometimes did disruptive or destructive things to make their points. It’s similar with “right-wing” groups which have also faded as any real threat.
But…they are still listed as ‘terror orgs.” Anyone with an “agenda” to protect the ***real*** terrorists, jhadists, blm, antifa, etc., could compile a long list of these and lump them all together for quite a “hit” against those whom they wish to smear, counting whatever they did in the past against them noq.
Just as Mr. Spencer stated…islamic state is just one of so very many groups of moslims that rain terror down on citizens; and if lumped all together as the *right-wing* are lumped all together, which ones have really been miscategorized, then the “islamic state” would outweigh the so-called “right-wing.”
moslim terror groups are so numerous, and have so many similar names, and the members go from one to another for training or funding…it’s impossible for anyone to keep up. But those with the agenda to cover for islam and their supporters, who are maybe not moslim…yet…but work with and for them…don’t try to “keep up.”
Why not compare “right-wing” with al shabab, or boko haram, or the mb, or hamas, or hezbollah, or state-sponsored …iran, s.a., pakistan, turkey, afghanistan, …all of the other “stans”…or, better yet, lump all of these, and the others not named here, together, and see which “wing” logs the most terror.
gravenimage says
Agree with you re groups like the ALF and ELF, Somehistory. Not always a fan of their approach, but even things like freeing lab animals and burning down new construction are *hardly* terrorism in the true sense of the word. Much the same with many “far right” groups.
para59r says
So since there really have been no far right terrorist attacks yet, (the far right does not own one of the attacks ascribed to it) one may assume now that the so called far right is now to be the official scapegoat of the Harris/Biden Administration.
Keys says
I think that is an intelligent assumption. All is being set up for the “Great Reset”.
Just like the pre-election polls showed Biden ahead, so it’d be no surprise when he “won”.
Keys says
Some of our elected “leaders” want to “make a list” of far right Trump supporters so they can be punished, and some want to win the Georgia Senate races: “Now we take Georgia, then we change the world !”
Change the world, but Biden wants to “unite the country”.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
It is similar to Islam wanting to unite the world … but only if everyone is a Muslim.
Amazing how Islam and NWO leftists use the same evil tactics. And so very many people are sucked in or fooled by both.

PJW’s video is worth watching.

Walter Sieruk says
The conclusion of this new “study” is questionable for may reasons.
As example I had conducted an intensive tem month study in the year of 1989 about what are termed extreme -right wing groups . The KKK specifically as well as other similar senseless groups.
First ,the Klan for the most part, is all “burned out” when it comes to violence. They are a group of ignorant and unorganized people who feel that the “Jews are guilty of everything” [as many Muslims likewise feel]. The point in they mostly gather together in silly meeting one a month ,which they call “Klavans” and engage in silly nonsensical talk about “What the Jews are doing” and plain public rallies in which speeches are delivered about “Those awful Jews”
Second, most the people who makeup the KKK and other similar “organizations, ” that word only loosely fits any of those because to so very unorganized, and also the members are rather unintelligent and terribly lack common sense. To the degree that they are too unintelligent to scheme and carry out mass murder attacks
By contrast the head of ISIS as well as many of the lower ranking jihadists of the Islamic “state” are highly organized and therefore is ,truly, a dangerous jihad organization and they do process the sinister insidious intelligence as well patience, commitment vicious zeal to scheme and carry out mass jihad murder attacks.
So that recent ” study” just published is flawed’
libertyORdeath says
So even though there were “…13 far-right terrorist attacks that had each killed more than 10 people, compared to 24 Islamist attacks”, those numbers somehow indicate that so called “far right terrorism” is more of a threat?
The media will twist anything into a “far right” terrorist threat or attack, yet the islamist attacks still far outpace these supposed acts of terrorism by nearly 100%. Makes sense to me lol.
libertyORdeath says
Oh now I see what this is about…
“To break these influences three major initiatives are needed – to break their media coverage and online social networks, disrupt their funding and lessen the number of sympathisers,”
So basically these unverified statistics that clearly show jihad terror to be a much bigger threat to the world will be used to censor, attack and silence those who are deemed to be “far right”.
Just more evidence of the left’s increasingly quick slide towards authoritarianism.
gravenimage says
New ‘study’ purports to prove that ‘far-right terrorism’ is ‘bigger threat to West than Islamic State’
…………….
Just ludicrous–for one thing, as noted, they are just counting the Islamic State, and not the thousands of other Jihad terror groups, as well as “lone wolves”. I’d like to see their methodology…
Note that in their 2019 Global Terrorism Index that The Institute of Economics and Peace, they don’t even mention Jihad terrorism (or Islamic terrorism, or “Islamist” terrorism, or anything similar) at all in their Key Findings section–*just* “Far-right Terrorism”. This, despite their being almost 94,000 in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa–largely Jihad terror attacks.
https://www.economicsandpeace.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/GTI-2019web.pdf
So how about those “far-right” attacks, which they ominously note has experienced a 320% rise? There were 26 deaths in 2018 attributed to “far-right” attacks.
In the very last paragraph they note this:
“However, far-right terrorism remains a small fraction of total terrorism worldwide. Even in the West,
historically nationalist or separatist, Islamist, and farleft terrorism has been much more common.”
That says it all…
