My latest in PJ Media:
While the Left is acting as if it is unthinkable – absolutely inconceivable! – that a presidential election can be stolen, and that to suspect otherwise is to venture deep into tinfoil-hat territory, in reality, this kind of thing has happened before, and it’s high time it all came out and safeguards were implemented. In Stephen King’s novel 11/22/63 (spoiler alert!), the main character, Jake, travels back in time to try to stop Lee Harvey Oswald from shooting John F. Kennedy. Even though King drops Jake off in 1958, giving him five years in the Good Old Days, the great novelist never thinks to offer him the easiest way to ensure that Kennedy survives: rather than stopping Oswald, he could have had Jake stop JFK from stealing the 1960 presidential election from Richard Nixon.
As Rating America’s Presidents notes, the 1960 campaign is famous not for voter fraud, but for the televised debates between Nixon and Kennedy, the first debates between the presidential candidates of each major party. The effect of television may have decided the election. A majority of those who listened to the first debate on the radio thought Nixon had won, but on television, he had unwisely eschewed makeup and sweated profusely under the hot lights, making him look nervous and shifty. Most TV viewers thought Kennedy had won.
Nevertheless, the election itself was extremely close, with Kennedy winning only 112,000 more popular votes than Nixon, out of over 68 million cast; in the Congressional Quarterly’s count, Nixon won the popular vote.
Illinois and Texas decided the contest. Both were quite close themselves: if Nixon had won forty-seven thousand more votes in Texas (the home state of Democratic vice-presidential candidate Lyndon B. Johnson) and ten thousand in Illinois (where Democratic machine boss Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago, held sway), he would have become president.
There was significant evidence that the Kennedy machine had committed voter fraud in both states. In Illinois, Daley’s Chicago machine made it easy: five days before the election, a Chicago group called the Committee on Honest Elections issued a report documenting its contention that fully ten percent of the people on Chicago voter rolls were listed as living in bars, barbershops, vacant lots and the like. Many had moved; many others were dead. The Committee also found unregistered voters having cast votes, including some who were apparently altogether fictional.
There is much more. Read the rest here.

Where is God when we need Him so badly?
Mo says
Same place He has always been – Lord of all, and entirely aware of what is going on. What is your point?
Rod says
“Same place He has always been” and “entirely aware of what is going on.”
And doing what He always does?
OLD GUY says
The liberal left kicked him out of our schools and families across America over the past forty years.

More sneering from “Rod”.

He’s here always, all around us. It’s your choice and Free Will to repent of your sins and ask Him to come into your heart and be your Lord & Savior.

Are you familiar with the concept of free will? We have to do our part.

Joke:
Q. What’s the difference between a “conspiracy theorist” and a “collusion theorist”?
A. The first one is routinely mocked, insulted, denounced and banned by MSM. The second one routinely mocks, insults, denounces and bans the first one.
lol (kinda)

The most absurd idea in the Universe: We can go to the moon but not get an accurate vote count of one eligible citizen = one eligible citizen vote. We need National Election Laws for National Elections, POTUS, VPOTUS, Representatives and Senators. Perhaps “Election Day” should be reserved for those offices only. State Reps and Senators, Local referendums, etc., done on another day. Severe penalties, 20 year in the Federal slammer, for voter hanky-panky. All voting for National Elections to be done IN PERSON and with VERIFIED ID. Can’t get to polls on election day? Tough beans; you’d get there if they were handing out Thousand Dollar Bills. Each ballot to have a serial number issued by the municipality, but no trace back to the voter, to maintain the secret ballot. Just for starters…

Here in Australia we have an independent election committee that runs the elections & we don’t have the problems you have in America. America should copy the system we have here in Australia.
Rod says
David, you can’t for a moment believe that that little upstart country down near Antarctica could manage any aspect of democracy better than the greatest democracy the world has ever seen.
Does Australia have political judges who use their political views to interpret the law? Can the Australian president pardon his criminal friends? Does the president appoint some of his family to help run the country? Do they prevent thousands of citizens from voting?
Nah! They don’t understand democracy at all.
gravenimage says
You find close elections at times in all democracies.
Note that “Rod” regularly sneers at democracies, but has never had a word of criticism for the horrors of Shari’ah.
Infidel says
In the US, judges who use their political views to ‘interpret’ the law tend to be on the Left. The difference b/w the Left and Right in the US when it comes to judges is that the Right sees the Judiciary for what it is – a third branch of government whose only role is to interpret whether laws passed are constitutional, and whether on whose side the law is. The Left, otoh, looks at it as an imperial legislature that can trump (no pun intended) the wishes of elected representatives
Every country has its own ways of doing things, some good, some bad. It’s ridiculous to expect that a system that works well for a small country of 25 million will scale well to one w/ 325 million
David M says
The answer to all those questions is no.
Rod says
Thank you David N. Would you mind a few more questions? Can the Australian president veto the considered congressional decisions of hundreds of the people’s elected representatives because he doesn’t like their opinion?
Can a “college” of unelected anonymous nobodies over-rule the choice of millions of Australian voters and decide who will be president?
Can political parties redraw Australia’s electoral boundaries to their own advantage, to ensure that they will remain in power for generations?
Probably not. US democracy seems to be a bad joke. Perhaps the Australians could send a panel of experts (maybe school children) to teach Americans how real democracy should work. Somebody should do it, urgently.
PS.
Infidel, It’s an absurd idea that as a population increases, their democratic rights must disappear. I suspect you’ll find that India (population over one billion), has a better understanding of how democracy should work than America.
gravy, I’ve never sneered at democracies. You are, as always, out of your depth.

If nixon had been made president then, would that mean that Watergate would never have happened?
Johnson wanted to be president so badly, perhaps his goons would have targeted nixon for assassination, then his vp pick and then Johnson could argue that Kennedy should be sworn in anyway, making lbj the president when JFK was
murdered.
Of course, if King’s book could be real, I wouldn’t have been in the movie because it wouldn’t have been made, and had that neat/fun experience to remember and talk about with my family.
This calls to mind the “butterfly on the path.”

Why didn’t Nixon contest the ballot count as fraudulent?
Dude says
Let’s face it. If the dude really believed there would be widespread mail-in voter fraud, he would have hired people to order a bunch of bogus ballots, then use those blank ballots to make his case. Or maybe even send in millions of Republican votes.
Instead he arranged the drama of a come-from-behind steal by getting his maga crew to vote in person, ignoring the virus hoax, knowing the non-hoax masked population would not have their votes counted until his Maga votes were counted.
But his position would be much stronger if he had actually cheated the flawed voter mail-in system himself (with pictures and witnesses). Was he so sure he could prove his claims? He had weeks to prepare his voting scam scam.
The Martian alien reptilian devil-worshipping pedaphile Democrats will reveal their evil agenda soon enough. Then the dude will return and save the world. Not to worry.

Actually it has been going on a lot longer than that.
“Tammany Hall, also known as the Society of St. Tammany, the Sons of St. Tammany, or the Columbian Order, was a New York City political organization founded in 1786 and incorporated on May 12, 1789, as the Tammany Society. It was the main local political machine of the Democratic Party, and played a major role in controlling New York City and New York State politics and helping immigrants, most notably the Irish, rise in American politics from the 1790s to the 1960s. It typically controlled Democratic Party nominations and political patronage in Manhattan after the mayoral victory of Fernando Wood in 1854, and used its patronage resources to build a loyal, well-rewarded core of district and precinct leaders; after 1850 the great majority were Irish Catholics.” (WikiPedia)
NEW YORK CITY POLITICAL ORGANIZATION.
BOSS TWEED is the most infamous leader, but far from the first, last, or only crook to lead the organization that put hundreds of DEMOCRATS in office by less than legal means.
Since 1960 there has been a huge change and the Democrat National Committee has taken charge, thanks in no small part to LBJ.
Nixon? His error was in covering up a bunch of guys who were doing stupid. I’m not saying he wasn’t as bad as the opposition, the Bush family has shown us that the GOP has its group that is little if any better than the DNC machine. We need to clean out Washington DC and the states as well. Politics should NOT be a career.
