We have the freedom of speech in the U.S., right? We can say anything we wish, aside from calls for violence or criminal activity, and express our opinions, no matter how unpopular, without fear of reprisal, right? Wrong.
“Two Algerian Christians Face the Courts,” International Christian Concern, December 13, 2020:
12/13/2020 Algeria (International Christian Concern) – Algeria’s Court of Amizour has tried two Christians for “insulting the prophet and denigrating the precepts of the Muslim religion.”
In the first case, the prosecutor has requested two years in prison and a fine of 200,000 dinars ($1519 USD). The verdict is expected on December 15th. A verdict in the second case is expected on December 17th. The defendant in this case is threatened with the same charge and fine, but only six months in prison.
Algeria has undergone a recent political transition and constitutional reform which held the opportunity for the country to protect religious freedom. However, it was a missed opportunity….

If they said anything at all about the cult of Islam. Lacking details in this case.

Will they call Muhammad to the stand to testify about his hurt feewings?

So a couple more people must have told the truth about islam. Anyone who told the simple truth about what a lowlife character Muhammad was (though I doubt that the guy ever existed) and what a barbaric load of rubbish Islam is so full of would have to be “denigrating” Islam. Denigration is exactly what it deserves because of all the evil and barbaric rubbish it condones. Anyone who doesn’t “denigrate” Islam must actually think that living the way people used to do way back in 7th century Arabia is a good thing. How weird and sick is that. The “precepts of Islam” are to live the way people did back in the 7th century in Arabia.

And of course, Christians, as usual, happily say whatever they like about islam, Mohammed and related matters completely oblivious to the fact that they are in a muslim country. Just like in countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh
Did anyone really expect Algeria – an Arab Muslim country – to grant complete freedom of religion to non-Muslims in its constitutional reform? If they did, I have a bridge from there to Niger to sell them
Infidel says
The first statement was supposed to be facetious, as in expressing incredulity at the idea that Christians or other non-Muslims would be so brazen while speaking in a Muslim country. Sorry it didn’t come out that way
Keith O says
Why is it that whenever we here about some “insult to islam or the prophet”, that we never actually get to hear what the supposed insult was?
James Lincoln says
Keith O,
The “insult” is a *truthful statement* about the “prophet”.
But you knew that already…
