Why is this necessary? Why don’t they just live outwardly as Jews? Because doing so could get them assaulted or even killed. Islamic law forbids the subjugated People of the Book (Jews, Christians, Zoroastrians) to make public display of their religious festivals, including the ringing of bells. The dhimmis “are forbidden…to ring church bells or display crosses…recite the Torah or Evangel aloud, or make public display of their funerals or feastdays” (Reliance of the Traveller, o11.5 (6).)
If they violate these laws, they can lawfully be killed.

Agreed, mortimer. Bigotry, accompanied by actual threats of physical harm, keeps Islam alive more than just about any other two factors. Believing in nonsense like the child-like Islamic conception of the after-life and Mohammed as the Model Man only further aids the highly destructive and foolish belief system which is Islam.
Again I say to all adult Muslims who are willingly Muslim, shame on you, and especially if you live in a free Western society—if the latter, you are not only merely confused, you are a parasite as well.

Before you condemn these people, consider that some people in this situation simply can’t afford to move ( or can’t move for some other important reason) to a “ free country”where they can practice Judaism without persecution or death as an apostate. And the list of “ free countries” where a Jew may freely and openly practice fath , without being peesecuted as a Jew ( or killed as apostate if it’s made known they were a former Muslim) is decreasing very quickly.
So these people,are trapped. I’ve been in a similar situation and it’s an awful , stressful, panick kind of feeling.
Another aspect of this is if they declare themselves not a Muskim, ( besides possibly being killed as an apostate) their families will at first pressure them to return to Islam ( this “pressure” can take a variety of means, including violence, abduction, beating ,,starvation forced divorce and separation from wife and children, and even , honor killings ) and if they don’t then the family will disown them.,so they will loose all of their fami,y. And family plays a much much bigger place in their culture and their lives that it doesn’t here. It’s a major major thing in cultures.

It’s difficult when there’s so variables… willing, unwilling, ………enthusiastic participants in violent jihad, stubborn believers who insist that The Koran and Muhammed are right , correct the perfect way to live and Islam is a perfect, flawless system, …………..the so called Moderates , who don’t participate in violent jihad but may contribute financially and refuse to speak out against jihad ………the equilivent of “ Sunday Christians” I guess you’d call them Friday Muslims, who only go to mosque on the holidays……..those that are secretly “ not muslims” ……………..and the outspoken apostates attempting to warn the West about Islam.
I have no sympathy for willing practicing Muslims. The arrogance of Muslims is simply infuriating, with their expectations that they should be favored , treated as a special protected class and taking goverment benifits as if its right and proper that we infidel ( Dhimmi) give Muslims money.
I do have some sympathy for those who are risking death as apostates. But then, Christians are dying rather than give up,their faith, so not much sympathy, especially for those living in the West.
I have the most sympathy for those that are truely apostate …and those that are outspoken about the threat Islam poses. I think we should be doing much more to help them. Even if they become atheist, Christians should be doing more to help,them adjust to being not muslim, the loss of their families , the loss of their identity, getting through the depression so many ex Muslims say they have suffered. etc. it’s the Christian and the American thing to do! . And the Goverment should be offering them Refugee status so they could come to the US from Islamic countries.They would truely be fleeing for their lives.

I have a friend who about ten years ago while looking into his geneology found that his heritage was mostly Ashkenazi Jewish, which surprised him. He decided to study Judaism, found it really spoke to him, and eventually converted to Judaism. All of his friends–Christians, Jews, and Atheists and Agnostics–support him.
He has not had to hide it, nor does he feel he has to pretend to be Christian. Compare and contrast….

I think I have read that in Spain Muslims pretended to be Christians publicly, but continued to be secret Muslims, but when they could they tried to destroy Christianity Likewise the Jews in Spain pretended to be be Christians and only practiced their religion in secret. It may be there have been other such cases. Probably Christains in Rome pretended to worship Mithra, etc.
