Has RTÉ ever lampooned Islam? No? Why not?
Were there riots and murders of innocent people by Christians because of this sketch? No? Why not?
Has RTÉ ever covered the root causes of sexual harassment and rape that is perpetrated, not suffered, by Middle Eastern migrants? No? Why not?
“RTÉ apologises for ‘blasphemous’ sketch after 600 complaints,” PA, January 2, 2021:
State broadcaster RTÉ has issued an apology after receiving 600 complaints over a “blasphemous” sketch that ran as part of the station’s New Year’s Eve countdown show.
The broadcaster said it acknowledged that viewers were offended by the clip, which faced criticism from Catholic Primate Archbishop Eamon Martin, who said it was “deeply offensive and blasphemous”.
The programme, broadcast on RTÉ One on Thursday, featured a sketch by satirical group Waterford Whispers News.
In it, a mocked-up news report featuring former RTÉ news presenter Aengus Mac Grianna claimed that God had been arrested over “sexual harassment scandals”.
In a statement, a spokesman for the broadcaster said: “RTÉ recognises that matters which can cause offence naturally differ from person to person, within comedy and satire in particular.
“Having reviewed the feedback and complaints received up to this point, RTÉ wishes to apologise to those who were offended by the segment.
“The formal complaints received by RTÉ are being entered into our complaints system and will be responded to in accordance with the relevant statutory process.”…
In the 23-second sketch, Mr Mac Grianna reads a mocked-up news story in which God has been arrested over “ongoing sexual harassment scandals”.
He said: “The five-billion-year-old stood accused of forcing himself on a young Middle-Eastern migrant and allegedly impregnating her against her will, before being sentenced to two years in prison, with the last 24 months suspended.”

Very sophomoric. Perhaps ok in an undergrad varsity skit, but downright stupid on Ireland’s national television.
More to the point is the sexually depraved life of Mohammed who ‘forced himself’ on many women both young and old. The biography of Mohammed reads as a list of unending rapes and sexual perversions of all kinds. No wonder Muslims are the greatest users of pornography of all kinds.

Including one 6 year-old he undeniably “married”. Takes a real pervert to even think about doing that.
Sir Robert Ray Mc Knight for Christ says
Mortimer – surely you wouldn’t accuse Muslims of being the largest users of pornography without documenting your “facts”? How would one even attempt to document such a statement?

Robert, this is widely doctumented–and Mortimer knows his stuff:

Kepha says
Sorry, folks, but Uncle Kepha also sees such a thing as blasphemous. Were he Irish, he’d have written to his rep in the Diall to protest having to pay taxes to support this kind of garbage (since this is a state-funded radio); and also would write to the editorial board as well. Further, from the sound of what has been reported, the unfunny comic probably assumed that Mary was Muslim rather than Jewish.
The virgin birth of Christ represents a new, supernatural start for humanity; the coming of a new Adam. It shows how the seed of the woman comes to crush the head of the old serpent Satan, in accord with the promises of Genesis 3:15. Nor is this, as the Mormons would have it, God having some sort of glorified human body and procreating in the human manner. We accept it as a miracle–the sort of thing that presupposes both an ordinary working of the creation and a God who is outside and above his own creation and rules it.
If the protest was organized by Muslims, that’s one good point for them, and I’ll cheerfully admit that a broken clock is right twice every 24 hours. I will also note that the secular Left, which sets itself up as “brave defenders of freedom of speech” are in fact a bunch of spineless cowards who will gladly attack Christians who do no more to them than pray for their repentence while bending over backwards to accommodate Islam when it demands accomodation. In the Western world, these supposed “free thinkers” have in fact been the major accommodators of the creeping Islamicization of our part of the globe. They’re a purely destructive bunch, and they don’t deserve support.

Ireland: State broadcaster apologizes for sketch accusing God of ‘forcing himself on a young Middle-Eastern migrant’
…………….
Christianity is always fair game.

What about the “elephant in the room”?
Middle East ‘IMMIGRANT’??????
From where did she immigrate?
——————————————————————————
Mary “emigrated” the 90 miles from Nazareth to Bethlehem – although as this was merely a short visit to meet the administrative requirements of the Romans, and both Nazareth and Bethlehem are in Judea, I don’t expect that the Bethlehemites really regarded her as being an immigrant.
As to your query regarding the “elephant in the room”, I have made a careful study of my Christmas cards, and to date the variety of animals present can all be counted amongst the “usual suspects” eg, asses, oxen, Mary and Joseph’s donkey, the occasional robin etc.
Are you sure that it wasn’t one of the Three Kings camels that you spotted ? They are both notably large animals, and could easily be confused by the dim light of a rush candle, even if augmented by the output from several haloes.
However, given the practical difficulties of getting an elephant into a stable designed to accommodate the altogether more modestly-dimensioned beasts of burden and draught animals employed at the time, I expect that they did the sensible thing and left the elephant tethered out of sight round the back of the stable.
Hope this helps.
Kepha says
As for the “migrant” part, I suppose MacGrianna was thinking either the migration from Nazareth to Bethlehem (Lk. 2) for the census or the flight into Egypt (Mt. 2).

Too close for comfort for padre ted? The answer isn’t to succumb to claims of blasphemy for any group! Tell the complainants to shove off.
Phil Copson says
Exactly – it was just a joke, and that’s all. Irish comedian Dave Allen was famous for his jokes about the Roman Catholic church – his visual comedy such as seeing how many priests and nuns could squeeze themselves into a confessional booth and then phoning the Guinness Book of Records / or a church with multiple booths that then transformed into fairground dodgems – was both excellent and harmless.
