My latest in PJ Media:
The New York Times story opens with a scene of unmitigated horror: “On May 30, 2019, Mohamed Abdulrahman Ahmed should have been in class preparing for exams. Instead, neighbors found the gifted high school senior hanging lifeless from a beam in his home in the Dadaab refugee camp in northeastern Kenya. He had taken his own life.” Since this is the New York Times, it comes as no surprise that the ultimate culprit is none other than Donald J. Trump, and his nefarious “Muslim Ban” that his wise successor’s handlers have now consigned to the dustbin of history.
Times author Ty McCormick does his best to tug at our heartstrings as he describes Dadaab, “a sea of sand and thorn scrub and makeshift tarpaulin dwellings” that is “home to more than 200,000 people — a city the size of Richmond, Va., or Spokane, Wash., except without electricity or running water.”
It’s a place absolutely mired in despair, but “over the years, refugees in Dadaab have clung to one hope: resettlement overseas, sometimes in Europe or Canada but mostly in the United States. Tens of thousands of Dadaab’s residents have come to the United States; in 2015, for instance, more than 3,000 people from the camp were resettled there.”
But then came the reign of the Evil One: “Those hopes of a better life were dashed on Jan. 27, 2017, when on his eighth day as president, Donald Trump suspended all refugee admissions and banned entry to citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, including Somalia. (Restrictions were eventually applied to 13 countries in all.)”
It’s a predictable sob story about how hard the residents of Dadaab have had it since they have been unable to come to America. One is moved to tears, but when one begins to consider the issue rationally, other considerations inevitably intrude: there are people who are having hard times all over the world. In fact, there are even people who are having hard times in the United States of America. There are people who are suffering economically, like the people in Dadaab. There are people who are suffering physically, emotionally, mentally, and in other ways. All over the world, there is suffering and pain. Why, then, is it the moral responsibility of the United States of America to alleviate the suffering of the people of Dadaab? No one in Kenya or Somalia or France or China or Australia or anywhere else is doing a thing to alleviate the sufferings of Americans; why is it up to Americans, all of whom are suffering in various ways themselves, to alleviate the suffering of everyone else?
There is more. Read the rest here.

New York Times Details Horrors of Trump’s ‘Muslim Ban,’ Ignores Victims of Jihad Attacks
………………………..
Disgusting–but not surprising given the NYT’s history.
mortimer says
Yes, ‘disgusting’ that the NYT is so reprehensibly dishonest. Not what one hopes for in newspaper.
NYT cannot be trusted in anything if they will not report the motives of the jihadist killers accurately. It is matter of record and NOT a matter of speculation why jihadists kill.
Somehow, many foreigners think that they have a right to enter and be allowed to reside in the USA. It’s a privilege and privileges must be earned.

Yes, Mortimer–and the NYT’s frequent dishonesty dates back at least to their whitewash of Stalin in the 1930s. That they refere to themselves as the “newspaper of record” is all the more appalling.

History is repeating it’self again and where are the wise men this time?
Who even thought a short time ago that American liberties would be on the brink of extinction? In retrospect, we had plenty of warnings. There are a few European countries who are waking up to the invasions masking as mass migration. Are there enough of them or is it to late?
owensgate says
Just WHERE, in the name of all that’s truly Holy, does it say the USA must “take in” anybody and everybody that wants to come here? By what RIGHT? These “refugees” could stay where they are, and rise up to change the government where they live, instead of “Coming to America” to vote and change the country here into what they just left; and THEN where would they go? Although I haven’t checked recently, I’ll bet I’d have a REALLY tough time trying to emigrate to, say, New Zealand, or Iceland. Perhaps it is like Stalin said, “a single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic”. Before crying about this single death, perhaps the NYT would be better advised addressing the “statistic” of millions of abortion deaths. Just sayin’.

Do they teach US history in your schools, owensgate? Weren’t you listening? You’ve never heard of the plaque at the Statue of Liberty?
Giacomo Latta says
What? You want to allow muslims into the most dangerous country in the world with regards to COVID-19, except your own beloved UK of course. At least in the UK muslims can choose among the various strains of COVID without having any particular one shoved down their throat. And just look at all the firearms in the US and the number of murders. Do you wish to submit muslims to that but not allow them to construct bombs? Do you wish them to live in the same country as Donald Trump; he’s still around you know? My God you are one sick puppy Rod.
All sarcasm aside, you are still one massive hypocrite. Call back when there is another beheading in France that you would like to blame on cartoonists, some even still living.

Fine post, Giacomo.

“Rod’s” implication that Emma Lazarus’ poem “The New Colossus” means that we have to take in hordes of invaders whose creed teaches our subjugation or murder. It mentions those “yearning to breathe free”, *not* those yearning to impose Shari’ah law on us.
And note that no one durring WWII thought that this poem demanded that we take in Fascists.

“New York Times”? More like, Pisslam Times
It used to be apologetic about slavery, racist about blacks, and so on.. i wonder if the founder of this media is actually a secret muslim..

Poor old Mohamed Abdulrahman Ahmed – if he only knew to wait another three years, then he’d be number one in Biden’s queue for entry to USA. I blame Biden for not sending him a letter to this effect. Oh dear, too bad.

The endless drip-drip of this sort of stuff does have an effect eventually. After all, look what the calumnies of the Palestinian Authority has achieved by decades of blatant lies against Israel. There are people out there who now express sympathy for “Palestinians” who have actually been swindled and abused by their own “leaders”.

The Trump plan, I’m told, was to make America Great. After four whole years, it’s perhaps time to assess how that little plan worked out. The view from some distance away, I’d suggest, is that America is today much less “great” than it was four years ago.
i’ve heard it suggested that Trump’s greatest (unintended) achievement was to
“Make America Democrat Again”.
Alternatively, to
“Make America Democratic Again”.
Well done, Donald.
Giacomo Latta says
”The view from some distance away”
That much you’ve got right. Obama’s greatest achievement was to ensure that Trump was elected to a presidential term.

I recently stated a Marriott hotel while on a business trip. As I was getting ready to check out, the nice lady at the front desk offered me a free copy of the New York Times.
I took a copy and the clerk told me to enjoy the newspaper.
I told her that my daughter’s rabbit will enjoy it even more, as I plan to use it to line her cage…
