The New York Times here gives us the predictable sob story about how hard the residents of Dadaab have had it since they have been unable to come to America. One is moved to tears, but rationally, there are people who are having hard times all over the world. In fact, there are even people who are having hard times in the United States of America. There are people who are suffering economically, like the people in Dadaab. There are people who are suffering physically, emotionally, mentally, and in other ways. All over the world, there is suffering and pain. Why, then, is it the moral responsibility of the United States of America to alleviate the suffering of the people of Dadaab? No one in Kenya or Somalia or France or China or Australia or anywhere else is doing a thing to alleviate the sufferings of Americans; why is it up to Americans, all of whom are suffering in various ways themselves, to alleviate the suffering of everyone else?
Meanwhile, what about the suffering of those whose lives were destroyed by Somali migrants who came into the country before Trump’s travel ban came into effect? Can we get a New York Times article on them? Somali Muslim migrant Mohammad Barry in February 2016 stabbed multiple patrons at a restaurant owned by an Israeli Arab Christian. When is the New York Times going to interview the people whom Barry stabbed, and publish a piece about how they have suffered, and how their lives forever changed that day? When is the New York Times going to write a piece about the other people who were in the restaurant that day, and explore their trauma, their horror, their terror, and the nightmares and anxiety they have experienced since then? When does the New York Times plan to profile the victims of Dahir Adan, another Somali Muslim migrant, who in October 2016 stabbed mall shoppers in St. Cloud while screaming “Allahu akbar”? Do Adan’s victims get a New York Times article about their injuries, their healing processes, any operations they may have had to undergo, and their own ongoing trauma and fear? How about the victims of Abdul Razak Artan, yet another Somali Muslim migrant, who in November 2016 injured nine people with car and knife attacks at Ohio State University? Does the New York Times plan to explain to us how the victims whom Artan tried to run down with his car (in an instance of the common phenomenon of vehicular jihad) now find their heart racing at the prospect of having to cross the street?
Of course, the New York Times is not going to publish even a single line about the suffering of those people and others like them, or even consider the possibility that Trump’s travel bans did anything but harm. Only the suffering of the people of Dadaab and others like them, not the suffering of victims of jihad attacks, matters to the Times. The suffering of the people of Dadaab is very real, and should be addressed, but is the only solution, or the best solution, really the resettlement in the United States of large numbers of people among whom is an unknowable number of jihad terrorists, who will enter undetected since any vetting to try to discover them will be deemed “Islamophobic”?
There will soon be new victims of Biden’s marvelous, multicultural discarding of the “Muslim Ban.” The New York Times will ignore them, while congratulating themselves on how they helped install a president who strikes back against “racism” and “xenophobia.”
“The ‘Muslim Ban’ Is Over. The Harm Lives On.” By Ty McCormick, New York Times, January 23, 2021 (thanks to Henry):
On May 30, 2019, Mohamed Abdulrahman Ahmed should have been in class preparing for exams. Instead, neighbors found the gifted high school senior hanging lifeless from a beam in his home in the Dadaab refugee camp in northeastern Kenya. He had taken his own life.
A sea of sand and thorn scrub and makeshift tarpaulin dwellings, Dadaab is home to more than 200,000 people — a city the size of Richmond, Va., or Spokane, Wash., except without electricity or running water. The camp was established in 1992, a year after neighboring Somalia collapsed into civil war and refugees streamed into Kenya….
Over the years, refugees in Dadaab have clung to one hope: resettlement overseas, sometimes in Europe or Canada but mostly in the United States. Tens of thousands of Dadaab’s residents have come to the United States; in 2015, for instance, more than 3,000 people from the camp were resettled there.
Those hopes of a better life were dashed on Jan. 27, 2017, when on his eighth day as president, Donald Trump suspended all refugee admissions and banned entry to citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, including Somalia. (Restrictions were eventually applied to 13 countries in all.)…

The implication that all Muslims will commit suicide unless they are givien immediate entrance to the United States is grotesque.
It also seems false here–while Somalia was on that list of terrorism-sponsoring states, Kenya was not.
And why is this issue just up to the US, and not other parts of the West? Why not Islamic nations, which *never* take in Muslim migrants?
The fact is that we are at greater risk now. While this individual may possibly have become a good citizen–or not–is this true of many others there? In fact, Muslims from the piracy-ridden horn of Africa frequently turn to Jihad terror here. And support among Muslims for Shari’ah law even in Kenya is over 68%–it is likely even higher among Somalis, but it is too dangerous to even gather data there. How many of these Muslims present a threat to Americans? Is tjhis a question that can even be asked now?
PRCS says
And why is this issue just up the US, and not other parts of the West? Why not Islamic nations, which *never* take in Muslim migrants?
A point which is seldom, if ever, noted by ‘journalists’ like Ty McCormick.
And:
“The travel ban all but slammed shut the gates of the United States, which has accepted roughly three million of the more than four million refugees resettled anywhere in the last four decades.”
Time for other nations to pick up the pace.

‘On May 30, 2019, Mohamed Abdulrahman Ahmed should have been in class preparing for exams’
No he shouldn’t, because he wasn’t an American citizen!
‘Instead, neighbors found the gifted high school senior hanging lifeless from a beam in his home in the Dadaab refugee camp in northeastern Kenya. He had taken his own life.’
And why was that? Because. when Mohamed Abdulrahman Ahmed’s fellow citizens should have been creating a stable, civilised environment for this young man, they proved yet again that they could behave themselves and caused his demise.
Every average group of humans should have the intelligence to create a civilised and productive environment for themselves. It’s their responsibility and no one else’s. It is NOT the responsibility of the good people of the USA or anywhere else to cover for the stupidity or lack of civility of those who can’t be bothered to live up to their responsibilities or learn how to.
If people such as Mohamed Abdulrahman Ahmed were given the opportunity for a ‘better life’ on someone else’s home ground that they clearly are incapable of creating themselves, then one would expect at least a minimum of courtesy, gratitude and respect for their new hosts in their new environment. Far too often they prove that they’re nor even cpable of that!
PRCS says
The ‘should have been in class’ line infers in the U.S.
Of course, he should have been in class; in Somalia.
Westman says
So will those men who won’t fight in the Somalia civil war to reclaim their own nation become American citizens who will fight to protect America? No, they will just become like the USA Left who think it’s a good idea to hire the “deplorables” with tax money to go die for them in a “professional” army.
It should be a requirement that all high school graduates spend at least one year in service to the nation with no exceptions. It could be military, infrastructure projects, national monument service, projects in poor nations, etc.
The left has little patriotism because it lives in isolation and serves itself. Humans don’t love things into which they have make no personal investment and are allowed to falsely believe precious things like freedom, will last forever without any effort or sacrifice.

Maybe the NYT should investigate why those countries are so terrible to begin with.
tim gallagher says
Very good point, tedh754. Of course, leftist media outlets will never honestly look at why Muslim countries are such shithouse places with endless violence and strife leading to all these Muslims ending up in refugee camps. As other commenters have noted, I can’t see why the USA or western European countries or Australia or any other non-Muslim country should be expected to roll out the welcome mat for Muslims, who inevitably will be nothing but trouble in any country they get to and will always be trying to impose barbaric Islam on everyone in the non-Muslim country foolish enough to let them in. I wonder if this young Muslim who hung himself was really a “gifted” student or if that’s a bit of crap this journalist has put into his story. Anyway, from experience, plenty of gifted Muslims, doctors, etc, have become Muslim terrorists, so the “gifted” bit is irrelevant.
somehistory says
No one seems to get the facts straight: Just because there is an America, a U.S.A., does not mean that everyone who wishes to come to the country are going to get to.
Every normal person has dreams of doing things, going places, etc. Even some Americans wish to move elsewhere in the country for a better job, better housing, better scenery, schools, etc. But not everyone gets what they wish for; what they want may be beyond reach. The normal person will work to make their dreams come true, but recognize that they may not.
We are all supposed to feel so much sadness over this moslim who wanted so badly to come here that he killed himself. But, why did he want to come? If he had a lot to offer, his fellow countrymen could use his talents there.
The United States cannot house, feed, employ, medicate, or in other ways take care of the entire population of earth, nor even the entire part that want to come here.
There have been many suicides in the U.S…many more than usual…since the virus and lockdowns and job losses, and stay home orders. Many more suicides…right here in the U.S.

New York Times is already a mouthpiece of Islam and Muslims just as Time Magazine is pro-Muslim too. These media outlets have become so corrupt and no longer objective and no more trust-worthy.
Walter Sieruk says
It desperately needs to be reiterated and remembered that the reason why America needs such a travel ban as the one that President imposter Biden so recklessly and foolishly lifted ,is very obvious. For when no such ban was in effect had the outcome of the murderous and destructive jihadists attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.
Infidel says
Why does Kenya – a non-muslim country – have to be the one to take in muslim refugees from Somalia? Why not Somalia’s other muslim neighbors – Djibouti, Eritrea or North Sudan? Or ask the Arab League or the OIC to resolve the conflict in Somalia, so that those refugees can return

Every human in the World would immigrate to the US if we let them. This 6 minute YouTube video clearly demonstrates the futility of allowing even one immigrant into the US.

gravenimage says
Some immigrants make great citizens–those who adhere to violent creeds are not apt to, though.
Daniel Triplett says
True. This video was made in 1996, before Islamic jihad exploded into the American conscience, and it addresses specifically “economic” migrants.
Before Ted Kennedy’s brainchild “Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965,” 90% of American immigration was primarily from European developed countries — mostly educated self-supporting people who would strengthen American resources, versus subtract from them.
Prior to 1965, immigrants were selected by merit. “What can you do for America?” versus “What can America do for you?” With a finite number of immigrants we can take, and an entire planet who would like to immigrate here, why not select the strongest and very best?
Most of these immigrants were voting Republican, so Kennedy with the 1965 Act sought to invert this to increase Democratic voter base. Since the 1965 Act, only 10% of legal immigrants have been primarily from European developed countries — mostly educated self-supporting people who would strengthen American resources.
Instead, for the last 55 years, 90% of legal immigrants have been from developing Third World countries. People who are mostly uneducated and financially insolvent, unable to survive without economic assistance from the government. People who mostly vote Democrat, and procreate at a rate 5X that of white Americans. Doesn’t matter how hard you work, you can’t raise a family on a 6th grade education, without massive assistance from the taxpayer. They depress wages for American citizens too, competing for a finite number of jobs.
Along with “chain migration” and the 150,000/month border breachers who evade apprehension, many believe the US immigration trajectory has been heading sharply in a direction destructive to America, not constructive.
Trump saw this too, of course, and wanted to scale back Muslim, Third World, and Chain Migration, reverting back to the pre-1965 policy of “Merit based immigration.”
We all know what Biden and Co have done now — everything they can do to destroy Republican power and influence forever. Opened the flood gates to Muslim immigration, installing them in all levels of government. Stopped Border Wall construction, killing 7000 jobs building it. Stop deportations. Stop Remain in Mexico policy, going back to the previous plan where the illegals melt into the interior, ignoring their court dates. 8-year path to citizenship for the 11 – 20 Million illegals already in America, at least 80% of whom will vote Democrat.
America’s future belongs to the rapidly expanding Latino demographic. At least they’re not trying to rape and decapitate us and force our submission to Islam though. Republicans must grasp this reality, and adjust their ideology and vision to accommodate Latinos partnership, welcoming them into the tent, giving them good reason to vote Republican and share in the Republican vision for America. If not, Republicans will continue sliding into impotent obscurity, ceding power, control, and national security to dangerous Democrats.
James Lincoln says
Excellent post, Daniel. My compliments.
I agree, the Republicans should embrace the rapidly expanding Latino demographic…

Daniel Triplett,

Daniel Triplett says
True James. Roy Beck would be cancelled today, for non-compliance with the worldview of Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Apple, the Big Four tech-nerds. Twitter is bad also, but comparatively speaking, Dorsey’s power is well below the power of the Big Four.
Seems as though when super-rich guys, bazillionaires who have more money they can ever spend, achieve that kind of wealth, the one thing they all covet at that point is influence to change the world — a god complex.
You could see it with William Randolph Hearst (WRH), back in the early-20th century. He was a newspaper magnate, who adjusted to today’s standard is the 2nd richest American in history ($140 Billion today). [steel magnate Andrew Carnegie is #1 at $230 Billion adjusted for today]
Hearst’s father left him a fortune in gold, and WRH converted that into informational power (this was before TV and Internet; newspapers were everything). BTW, Hearst Castle, in San Simeon, CA, is the most magnificent property in all of North and South America, IMHO, and well worth the visit. The Central California coast, with Big Sur, is the most beautiful coastline on the planet. WRH knew this too, which is why he made this his world headquarters.
Now, Suckerberg (Faceplant), Pichai (Google), Cook (Apple [app store]), and Dorsey (Twitter), are all focused on information and what you and I are allowed to see, read, and think, herding us like sheep toward their own ideological objective.
And of course, Jeff Bezos, who ingeniously cornered supply-chain solutions, logistics, and front door retail delivery to become the richest man on the planet. He can easily have all the women, cars, yachts, jets, and mansions he wants, but the one thing he covets more than anything else is control of information — the power to alter the world. He bought and controls the Washington Post, one of the top newspapers in the US, at the epicenter of the US Capitol; and he’s also managed to control a major stake in “servers,” the complicated expensive hardware and infrastructure that controls US access to the Internet at all.
Both US military vets and US civilians alike have a moral duty to defend and die on the hill to advance the freedom that 1A and 2A guarantee. Americans are Liberty’s last best hope on Earth.
James Lincoln says
Yes, Infidel.
Control of information is the ultimate control.
Somehow, strangely, this makes me think of a quote from one of my favorite movies:

The Muslim Ban was put in place strictly for the protection of the American people. Biden’s removal of the ban is strictly pandering to the Muslims with gross disregard for the safety of us, the American people. We are deep into a terrible pandemic and Biden’s priority is for the Muslims who by the way have made their intentions quite clear. These people are not refugees, they are invaders. They do not assimilate, and worse want to change our laws to accommodate themselves. Their Mosques preach violence. Bringing these invaders into our country when our people are hurting to feed their families, loss of jobs is absolutely the worse thing that is being thrown on the American people. President Trump understood what Islam stood for and took step to protect us. Biden and the Democrats don’t give a ? about us only the number of votes they’ll get by sticking it to the American people. In God we trust.

Speaking of misleading information in bogus publications, while this is a bit “off topic” it is timely and I believe relevant. When I first heard the word “deprogram” used in connection with Trump supporters it gave me chills. Recently this article in “Vanity Fair” was called to my attention. Having had 15+ years working with the Cult Awareness Network and being familiar with the subject of the article, it is my personal opinion that his behavior is unethical in the extreme. (Several years ago I contacted him to ask whether he would be willing to help with situations involving Islamic indoctrination and he flatly refused. Apparently those indoctrinated with delusions of jihad do not need “deprogramming”, but those who disagree with his political views do.)
The foundation he runs has a “contact” email address, just sayin’.

Evidently, cult “expert” Steven Hassan does not believe that islam is a cult, so it’s followers do not need to be deprogrammed.

Oh noooo… Islam is “A Great World Religion”! Can’t have people being “deprogrammed” from its murderous teachings when it holds that status, can we?
Apparently he doesn’t think cultural Marxist or any of the other bogus ideologies of the Left are “cultic” either. So kids can be taught in public schools that “whiteness” is evil and that can’t be challenged, but they must be “deprogrammed” if their parents voted for Trump?

Commie Democrats really hate America.
In spite of all the Islamic jihadist terror attacks including 9/11, no Muslims, according to these Leftists, should ever be considered a threat to America by ASSOCIATION with a political ideology of Islam which prescribes death to infidels. That makes you an Islamophobe.
“NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS” is the refrain embedded into our brains so as not to discriminate.
On the other hand——–the Commie Democrats gleefully discriminate with great abandon against ALL patriotic, Trump-supporting Americans by labeling them as extremist, white supremacist terrorist risks because of the False Flag on 1/6/21.
We have to do a better job of using labels against the Democrats and must call them out for what they are: Commies and Fascists and Un-American. Please don’t call them “Liberals” or “Progressives”…time to take the gloves off in the battle of words where the Democrat Commies escape demonization because currently they have the upper hand by using MSM Communist propaganda. While Democrats are adept at using Alinksy’s “Rules for Radicals,” real Americans trying to preserve our Republic, just take it on the chin and quote the Constitution to no avail.
