Rather than Islamic supremacist Turkey getting booted out of NATO, it is taking over from Poland to lead NATO’s military Very High Readiness Joint Task Force for 2021.
The move is highly questionable, given Turkey’s overt ambition of rebuilding the Ottoman Empire, its constant bullying and threats of war with Greece, its alliance with Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood, and its interference in Libya to establish the Muslim Brotherhood there.
The NATO news comes at the same time as news of Turkey’s arms deal with Russia.
In mid-December, the Trump administration slapped sanctions on Turkey over its purchase of the Russian S-400 missile system. And now the Turkey-Russian pact has gone farther.
Merely a day before Turkey took charge of the VJTF, it was announced that “Turkey and Russia have pledged to go further on military cooperation despite US sanctions, in a move that risks destabilising Nato.”
The reason that the VJTF was created makes the NATO news even more bizarre:
NATO heads of state and government decided to create the VJTF at the Wales Summit in 2014 in response to a changed security environment, including Russia’s destabilisation of Ukraine and turmoil in the Middle East.
In early December, Jihad Watch reported that Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, France and the UAE were conducting joint military exercises amid the rising Turkish threat.
“Turkey takes charge of NATO high readiness force, 01-Jan.-2021,” NATO, December 31, 2020:
The Turkish army will take the lead of NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) on Friday (1 January 2021), placing thousands of soldiers on standby, ready to deploy within days.
Turkey takes over from Poland, which provided the core of the force in 2020. Built around Turkey’s 66th Mechanised Infantry Brigade of around 4,200 troops, a total of around 6,400 soldiers will serve on the VJTF. Units from Albania, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the UK, and the United States will also serve on the force, which is part of the Alliance’s larger NATO Response Force. Turkey has made substantial investments into the unit – amongst the most mobile in NATO – particularly in its logistics and ammunition requirements planning. The latest models of Turkish armed vehicles, anti-tank missiles and howitzers have been allocated to the force.
NATO heads of state and government decided to create the VJTF at the Wales Summit in 2014 in response to a changed security environment, including Russia’s destabilisation of Ukraine and turmoil in the Middle East. NATO members take turns heading the VJTF. Poland led the VJTF in 2020, Germany in 2019, and Italy had rotational control of the force….

What buffoon puts an Islamic country in charge OF NATO? CAN NO ONE SEE ANY PROBLEMS THAT MIGHT ENSUE ON ACCOUNT OF THIS? have they left their senses?
Clifford Fodor says
The next question: Who do we write to to have Turkey kicked out of NATO?
Infidel says
I’ve heard that NATO doesn’t even have a mechanism for expelling anybody: a member has to voluntarily leave, like France did in 1966 from NATO’s ‘military structure’. I think the US should leave, and let Europe take care of their own mess. Or they can turn to Canada for support ?

Infidel,
Very difficult to expel a NATO member – but theoretically not impossible:

Germany still using/training Muslims as they did in the WW’s.
Germany still covertly and more softly doing what Hitler planned.(EU) But Turkey thinks it can own Germany. This is not going to be pretty.

NATO is the (unofficial) military arm of the UN, making it just as useless and corrupt. Name one good thing that NATO did ever.
Infidel says
To be honest, they were useful during the Cold War, and keeping the Soviets from invading Western Europe. Their utility vanished once the Soviet Union disintegrated
The sooner that organization is disbanded, the better. Already, the EU wants to put together its own army. Let it, and let the US part ways w/ NATO. Like I mentioned elsewhere, we already have our hands full w/ the Indo-Pacific, and have 3 outstanding allies in Japan, Australia and India who are more than happy to take the initiative and help out other countries in the region, such as Taiwan, Vietnam, Mongolia, et al

Very obvious the “Deep State” that in fact runs the World, as well as the United States, has determined to fracture NATO, as it is an obstacle to the New World Order. Turn citizens of every nation against each other, turn NATO nations against each other, pick up the pieces (“power”) when they fall apart. President “Harris” will insure Turkey remains in NATO, and will probably find a way to remove Greece from NATO if the kerfuffle’s between Ankara and Athens over Cyprus and the Eastern Med accelerate. Happy New Year.

This last year has been the most difficult for all of us, but the next four could be a helluva lot worse if Biden is at the helm. Who knows what the wanna be caliph Erdogan is going to get up to, I feel certain that he will be getting up to something.
Then we have the mad mullas in Iran who can’t wait for Biden to take over.
I hope I’m wrong, but I really wouldn’t feel safe if Bidden is stirring the ship, as it will only end up on the rocks.
Infidel says
The NATO countries have got the root of the problem all wrong. The issue ain’t so much Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400s. It is Turkey’s geopolitical ambitions and the fusion of Islamic supremacy w/ Turkic racist pride. NATO ought to be cracking down on Turkey for its violation of Greek sovereignty and its adventurism in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Caucuses. As well as their tacic support of Jihadist terror groups like ISIS, Hamas, Jabhat al Nusra and so on
In its obsession w/ Russia, NATO is as usual ignoring greater threats to the alliance from within! Even more problematic is the alliance working w/ Qatar, instead of being on Saudi Arabia’s side in disciplining them for their support of Muslim Brotherhood factions worldwide

Turkey takes charge of NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force as it confirms Russian arms deal
………………….
Just insanity. Turkey needs to be kicked out of NATO.
Infidel says
I doubt that that mechanism exists to expel anybody. Turkey would have to leave on its own
gravenimage says
I don’t think that Turkey is apt to leave on its own, Infidel–not unless they are in the process of setting up their Caliphate. Too many benefit from the “filthy Infidels”.
newsupplements says
Turkey operating as an Islamic supremacist could well decimate the entire infidel force of NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF). They could be placed to ensure none of them survive just because they are infidels. Isn’t Nato at all concerned that this should not happen? or will the entire force be expendable because they are infidels.

Lunacy. Turkey is our enemy.

Turkey is becoming a dangerous country under Erdogan islamic dictatorship. NATO and the U.S, need to get out of Turkey and destroy all the military equipment and bases they occupy when leaving. Cut foreign aid to Turkey while we’re at it.
