In December, I wrote an article entitled: “Here We Go: Swamp Rats Start Laying the Groundwork for Sending U.S. Troops Into Syria.” And in January, I wrote an article entitled: “Back to the Endless Wars: US Military Convoy Enters Northeast Syria.” And here we are.
The Islamic State (ISIS) is resurgent in Syria, but Biden’s handlers didn’t strike the Islamic State. They struck instead at two Iranian-backed groups, which is essentially to strike at Assad. This was in order to placate one of Biden’s handlers’ constituencies: the Muslim Brotherhood network in the U.S., which hates Assad and has for years been trying to compel the U.S. to topple him. However, it antagonizes the Iranians, which Biden’s handlers also intend to appease. Thus this could backfire on the handlers in a big way. But in the short term, it will likely lead to a new round of concessions and pot-sweeteners for the Iranian mullahs, all at the expense of the American taxpayer, of course.
In any case, since we know that Biden is not going to pursue “America First” policies, that this strike does not benefit America or Americans, and was not intended to.
“US carries out air strikes in Syria targeting Iranian backed militias,” by Barbara Starr, Oren Liebermann and Nicole Gaouette, CNN, February 26, 2021:
The US military on Thursday struck a site in Syria used by two Iranian-backed militia groups in response to rocket attacks on American forces in the region in the past two weeks.
“Up to a handful” of militants were killed in the strikes, a US official told CNN.
The strikes, which mark the US military’s first known action under President Joe Biden, swiftly drew criticism from a Democratic lawmaker. The site was not specifically tied to the rocket attacks but Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said he was “confident” it was used by the same Iranian-backed Shia militias that had fired rockets at US and coalition forces.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the strikes took place “at President Biden’s direction” and were authorized not just to respond to the recent attacks against American and coalition forces but also to deal with “ongoing threats to those personnel.”
“Specifically, the strikes destroyed multiple facilities located at a border control point used by a number of Iranian-backed militant groups, including Kata’ib Hezbollah and Kata’ib Sayyid al Shuhada,” Kirby said. “The operation sends an unambiguous message; President Biden will act to protect American coalition personnel. At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to de-escalate the overall situation in both Eastern Syria and Iraq.”…
The site the US struck on Thursday is believed to be used as part of a weapons smuggling operation by the militias, according to a US official. The strikes were conducted to degrade the groups’ ability to carry out attacks and to send a message about the recent attacks, the official said….
The US strikes come as Washington and Tehran position themselves for negotiations about Iran’s nuclear program, potentially complicating an already fragile process.
Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh denied any ties to the February 15 attack in Erbil, and Iran has not claimed responsibility for any of the other strikes. “While these rumors are strongly rejected, the dubious attempt to attribute it to Iran is also strongly condemned,” Khatibzadeh said, according to a February 16 report by Iran’s state official news agency Mehr….

Now, there’s a funny thing. Weren’t some people trying to con us into believing that Donald Trump was some sort of warmonger? or have we all been living a a parallel universe for the last 4 years?

Spot on, Jayell.

Yep. When Trump was elected everyone around me was freaking out he was going to start WW3. “Oh, my God he’s got the code to the nukes”, was the big terror.
Turns out he took out what we needed to, ISIS, and Solemani, didn’t start any significant war, and still, he was the grand wanna’ be fascist dictator who was going to start WW3.
If we end up supporting the war industry more aggressively again under Biden, I will rub it in to the progressive peaceniks, every chance I get.

Bread and circus originates from Rome in satiric x from the poet juvenal about 140CE. It still works today

The more modern version (began in 1960s) is, “Guns and butter”. The idea that war no longer requires the redirection of the engines of commerce. Then the draft was eliminated so the obligation to serve in the military and the bereavements fell upon the willing and opportunity deficient. This made it easier for politicians to think of the military as an eploitable machine.
An updated(cynical) version could be, “Guns, expendables, and butter” This is eerily similar to the Roman Empire.

Curious George
I think the Federalist society needs to be confronted on how they came up w/ their lists, since all the 3 – Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett – have been disappointments. They didn’t hear the Pennsylvania fraud case when it was first brought up, and then they declined to hear it b’cos it was ‘moot’. Everybody who was praising Trump and McConnell for such a brilliant job on judges have been shown up as suckers
The things that Donald Trump had expertise on and did – he did brilliantly. The things where he didn’t have expertise and had to depend on establishment republicans, those things got blown. First abolishing Obamacare, where Paul Ryan and Tom Price totally mucked it up, and then the judges, where the Federalist society gave him a list of people who refused to intervene to ensure the integrity of elections
If he gets re-elected in 2024, he should on principle exclude anyone who served under the Bushes, and introduce his own debutantes. Have Mark Levin as his judicial advisor

Robert Spencer has read the tea leaves correctly yet again. Beijing Bribed-en can be counted on to continue the failed policies of his former employers of the military-industrial complex who still want to milk the American cash cow to pay for endless wars.

Managed properly, the Syrian face-off could evolve into a battle b/w Iran and Turkey – both rogue islamic players, which could benefit us, the Arabs and israel. But leave it to the Obama leftovers to drag us into that mire

Bogus President Biden is a catastrophe and calamity for America, a disaster, and a tragedy for the American people.
,Biden with folly and wickedness is a curse upon Israel and as for the entire Middle East, the foolish idea and polices of Biden will only cause more violent chaos and bedlam .
Likewise, in Asia in Afghanistan the incompetence , maybe even willful deliberate incompetence of Biden and administration will probability increase the violence , killing and Islamic tyranny of the Taliban than before.
It should also that this despicable Biden /Harris team the epitome of the personification and embodiment of the Red/Green Alliance , with all it’s evil and madness.

Biden is an equal-opportunity antagonizer. He is annoying both the Iranians and the Saudis, as well as the Israelis.

I’m sorry to say but I have this burning suspicion that if was Trump striking at Iranian targets (something which by the way I’m quite sure the Israelis are very much in favor since the IAF has been doing the same) Robert Spencer’s commentary would likely have been very different.
gravenimage says
Israel is an ally of ours–the idea that getting involved in endless Muslim internecine wars is the same as defending Israel makes no sense.
Besides, the above actually is a blow against Shia rather than Sunni, so this is actually the very thing that you say that Robert Spencer would supposedly applaud.
SAFI says
What I quite clearly implied is that Robert Spencer would not accuse Israel of trying to help the Muslim Brotherhood when it does airstrikes on what it claims to be Iranian targets in Syria, and neither would I, but now it’s all “Biden’s handlers” ,”endless wars” and similar partisan nonsense

Endless wars recommence as Biden’s handlers strike Syria, aiding Muslim Brotherhood and antagonizing Iran
