Your post directly parallels my own thoughts on Islam. While working in the Middle East, I was always intrigued by the common notion among the people that western nations, in particular Britain and America, had caused them so much grief by stealing and plundering “their” oil.
What made it their oil? They did not discover it. They did not develop the means to get it out of the ground, neither in building the machines nor the steel industry to build those machines. They did not develop the geology to find nor the chemical process to turn that worthless sludge into materials of immeasurable value. Islamic nations developed none of the industries that need or turn that oil into such a valuable resource. They simply lived on land that oil was found to lie, sometimes by miles, beneath the surface.
Foreign companies offered them wildly generous wealth in exchange for access to those underground oceans of oil. It was still not enough for the Islamic peoples. They seized the oil assets and then demanded to be supplied with people to show them how to operate those assets. The song “One Tin Soldier” comes to mind when I think of Islam. This song is always portrayed as an indictment of Western / Christian culture and of course means that Christians are the people of the valley. Not so. Our ancestors and we constantly offer to share with them peace on earth through trade, knowledge, recognition of Rights. Islam rejects all of that and poisons the minds of masses of its followers to do the same. Islam is not the child of the desert, but the mother and father of it.
