Jared Polis is neither judge nor jury. He has no authority to make these claims. He is not a police or FBI investigator, and their investigations cannot possibly be complete yet. His statements amount to abuse of his office, and reveal his own disrespect for due process, his proclivity for appeasement as opposed to leadership, and his servitude to political correctness.
Polis’ mentality is to accept uncritically what the family of mass shooter, Ahmad al Aliwi Al Issa (that’s how he spells his name himself, not “Alissa”), says. While it is possible that Al Issa is suffering from mental illness, that in itself does not prove that his attack was not motivated by Islam’s teachings on jihad. Although the investigation has a long way to go, Alissa has already been reported to have Islamic State sympathies.
Journalist Jack Posobiec, who cited an unidentified White House official, reported that Joe Biden “has been briefed the Colorado shooter had ISIS sympathies.”
In a subsequent tweet, Posobiec said, “It is beginning to look like the Boulder shooting was a jihadist terror attack.”
Posobiec reported on Twitter that government intelligence suggested Al-Alissa initially planned to execute his shooting spree at a Trump rally in Colorado Springs in February of last year, but postponed the rampage until the next one scheduled for March in Denver which was ultimately canceled over the coronavirus pandemic.
A White House official also told Posobiec that Alissa planned to travel to Syria last summer, but covid lockdowns interfered with the trip.

“Colorado Governor: ‘No Reason’ to Suspect Any Ties to Terrorism in Boulder Mass Shooting,” by Jack Phillips, Epoch Times, March 24, 2021:
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said he is ruling out claims that the Boulder mass shooting suspect had any ties to terrorist groups.
“From a preliminary perspective, there’s been comments from the brother, the family, that there were concerns about this individual’s mental health,” Polis said in a televised interview on Wednesday, adding that an investigation is ongoing.
“Again, there’s no reason to suspect any connection to terrorism,” he said. “I think it’s likely to be an instance where it’s at an age where, you know, people might come unbalanced. So, we’ll find out. We don’t want to conclude anything before the investigation’s done.”
Ahmad al Aliwi Alissa, 21, was identified by officials as the suspect in the case. He was charged with 10 counts of murder on Tuesday.
His former wrestling teammates in high school said that Alissa had a short fuse and was concerned about being targeted due to his Muslim faith.
But Ali Aliwi Alissa, the 34-year-old brother of the suspect, told news outlets Tuesday that he does not believe his brother was ideologically motivated, saying that he appeared to have mental issues and was paranoid.

The shooting was not “not at all a political statement, it’s mental illness,” his brother told the Daily Beast. “The guy used to get bullied a lot in high school. He was like an outgoing kid, but after he went to high school and got bullied a lot, he started becoming anti-social,” the brother added….

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is lying and someone is paying him to do so. How can people support his obvious corruption?
Is this openly gay governor disappointed he cannot blame the slayings on a white American?
By defending jihadists, Polis is defending the Sharia law which persecutes gay men like himself.
gravenimage says
I doubt that anyone is paying him, Mortimer. I think this is more about “political correctness” and denial than corruption. I know many ordinary people–who are obviously not being paid by anyone–also in denial about this being Jihad.

It’s just an absurd situation we are in . Whenever a muslim kills a few westerner the denial by western media and officials takes place almost instantly . With so many shootings and blowing up and killing of infidels always by people of islamic faith you’ve got to ask yourself if they are not driven by islamic text and teachings like “…..kill them wherever you find them ..” . Why this need by westerner like the Colorado Governor to issue a statement of appeacement . I see him as a traitor to his own fellow americans , he should resign or be fired .
mortimer says
Polis is also a traitor to the gay community which will be persecuted more in Muslim countries when their leaders realize Western gays are looking the other way and whistling and will not even protest the savagery.

Steve Rogers says
Totally inappropriate for Polis to make any statement about it being terrorism or not. He does not have all the facts. Has not seen the evidence and has not interviewed any witnesses. Supposedly Al Issa was scouting out Trump rallies last year for an attack so it was only a matter of time before he committed Jihad. The Feds need to check the entire family’s bank records and those of the family restaurant, “The Sultan Grill” also. It’s a perfect scenario for money laundering through the restaurant. The case also needs to be filed in Federal court so the death penalty is available since Polis took that option away at the state level.

Even if the man is insane there must still have been a reason in his own mind for him doing what he did – even if it sounds totally insane to everyone else. The law enforcement authorities asked the shooter in Atlanta for his motive and he said it was because of his sex addiction. Has anyone asked Al-Issa why he did it and, if so, what did he say? Is his answer being kept secret?

What is even more bizarre is that Jared Polis is also the first *Jewish* person to be elected governor of Colorado.

And James, the witless Polis in 2019 signed a bill preventing Colorado law enforcement from holdimg illegal aliens even when asked to do so by ICE.

Why is that “bizarre”?

Because he is whitewashing an attack on a supermarket featuring Kosher products during Passover week.
But then, both Jews and Gentiles are many times clueless about Jihad.

GI.
So what if he’s Jewish? Sounds to me like he’s trying to be fair and open minded. It looks like a lone shooter event at this time — regardless of where he got the idea or the encouragement. Being non-muslim does not necessarily equate with being anti-muslims.
mortimer says
Agree with GI. The attack on a kosher market at Passover is OBVIOUSLY anti-Semitic and the journalists did not bring that KEY FACT to our attention.
These ‘journalists’ can’t see what is right in front of their eyes.

Response to Rarely … attitudes towards Islam (or ‘cluelessness’ about jihad) is largely dependent on your gender, race and religion according to opinion surveys. The more you see ‘victimhood’, the more you are inclined to overlook POLITICAL ISLAM.
gravenimage says
Rarely–with all respect–obfuscating a Jihad terror attack is not “fair and open minded”–it is clueless *at best*. And the implication that it is of no relevance that Al Issa supports ISIS and quotes Muhammed is truly bizarre.
No one said that being non-Muslim means you are anti-Muslim–and acknowledging that Jihad is terror is not “anti-Muslim”–it is jsut a a recognition of reality.

Thanks, Mortimer.

Rarely,
Jared Polis stated “there’s no reason to suspect any connection to terrorism”…
At the very least, this was a violent jihad attack by a single devout muslim. Whether or not he was aided / abetted by other muslims does not change the fact that this was a violent jihad attack.
And a violent jihad attack is an act of terrorism.
“Bizarre” because Jews are the most hated of infidels by devout muslims…

“The shooting was not “not at all a political statement, it’s mental illness,” his brother told the Daily Beast.” Yeah, well before I believe the brother, I would have to see an official psych report and know the background of the doctor that performed the exam, including a licensed medical practice the doctor is with. Otherwise it is all propaganda.

I guess it depends on one’s definition of “terrorism”.
Being muslim and having “sympathies” for radical islamic groups does not necessarily make this a “terrorist” action by any of the dictionary the definitions I could find. Of course for it to be an act of “terrorism” in a legal sense would depend on the definitions in the appropriate legislation. It’s basically a mute point at this stage.
From the comments of his classmates it appears much more likely that he was not so much the bullied but the bully.
Mental illness? He’s certainly sick in the head but that might just be by having received an overdose of islamic victimhood — a lethal overdose.
CogitoErgoSum says
Why is there is any reason to suspect the killings were NOT terrorism? I seem to remember a time when politicians would refrain from making any comments on an ongoing criminal case. Why not say that we should wait and see what evidence is presented at the man’s trial? I think that would be the fair and open minded thing to do.
Rarely says
It all depends upon your definition of “terrorism”. There is so much racial and religious hatred flowing around these days it’s understandable that he would prefer to douse the flames rather than pour gasoline on them. Hopefully the “truth”, whatever that might be, will come out in due course and receive the appropriate publicity.
It’s overly simplistic and somewhat irresponsible to shout at the get go: “Religious muslim? Must be jihad. Must be terrorism”. In fact that may prove to be totally wrong.
gravenimage says
Rarely, your idea that lying and obfuscation “douses the flames”–by which you presumably mean prevents the ‘filthy Infidels’ from causing a phantom backlash against Muslims–is just bizarre–as though Jihad terror is not a threat, but anyone speaking out against it *is*.
And then the idea that a pious Muslim supporter of ISIS who quotes the “Prophet” Muhammed and goes out and mass murders people at a Kosher grocery sale during Passover week has nothing to do with Jihad is truly odd–but I suppose just like the governor of Colorado, you are trying to “douse the flames” of Anti-Jihadists daing to say anything critical of Jihad murderers. Bad dhimmis!

Everything is so clear and obvious but. in all fairness, we shouldn’t just lynch him but “give him a trial and then we’ll hang him”.
Alternatively we could let this proceed normally through the courts without excessive public pressure that we see all too often in high profile cases.
gravenimage says
Rarely, your claim that ordinary people not deliberately hiding the perp’s links to ISIS is *lynching* him and saying that I am advocating hanging him is utter calumny.
No one has to lie about a suspect for him to receive a fair trial–nor is honesty “excessive public pressure”.
The idea that the US legal system demands that no one speak the truth about any crime is *utterly* false–citations, please.
Rarely says
The “truth”?? It’s up to the courts to determine the truth, and not the tabloids or on-line speculators.
gravenimage says
Rarely, Al Issa voiced his support of ISIS and quoted Muhammed on his own social media. I have not seen anyone–not even his own family–claim that someone hacked into his sites. Unless you have evidence that this is so, then citing this is *not* inappropriate.
somehistory says
He isn’t even listening to what he is saying. “Don’t want to conclude” but is concluding that no terrorism.
“Again, there’s no reason to suspect any connection to terrorism,” he said…. “We don’t want to conclude anything before the investigation’s done.”
But, then, look at who it is making these remarks that are outside his personal wheelhouse.
mortimer says
Take note: the brother of Islamic terrorist Ali Aliwi Al-issa claims that JIHAD TERRORISM is NOT a ‘political statement’. What a liar! Warfare is always a political action.
In fact, JIHAD is the POLITICAL and religious STRUGGLE by which non-Muslims are forced to SUBMIT to the POLITICAL ISLAMIC STATE (IS) and by which all civil rights of non-Muslims are forcibly removed from them. Kinetic
JIHAD’s foremost intention is to STRIKE TERROR into the minds of KAFIRS in order to PARALYZE their thinking … this works on the Leftards who have no idea that they themselves are targets of JIHAD.
Jihad is the holy Islamic warfare (sacralized by Allah) which promotes the supremacist, utopian, political ideology of Islamic political hegemony.
Leftarded Globalists are so intent on promoting their own supremacist ideology that they are blind to the POLITICAL ideology of Islam.
To deny this established truth is to deny the consensus of the overwhelming majority of orthodox Islamic scholars from the time of the first caliphs until the present.
The purpose of jihad is ensure the submission without the consent of non-Muslims: “It is he who has sent his messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, that he may proclaim it over all religion, even though the pagans may detest it.” Koran 61:9

2. Philidelphia’s idiot Mayor Kenny, who–immediately after his Police Chief stated that the perpetrator of that 2016 crime had said it was carried out in the name of Islam and that police are enforcing laws that are contrary to the teachings of Islam–then declared @4:22 that it had nothing to do with Islam.

The funny thing is that all this muslim shooters and killers prior to the killings were ordinary people going about their business not having prior mental health issues and not having been identified as such by their close friends and relatives . Only after killing a bunch of infidels they get labelled as having mental health issues .There is of course a time when you just snap , but with so many incidents of this kind by muslim killers you can’t accredit them constantly to mental issues and beeing paranoid as his brother stated.

Why are these political leaders so BLIND to the truth? ISLAM has been SLAUGHTERING non-muslims for 1400 years. Both the Quran and Muhammad strongly demand the killing of infidels if they don’t convert too Islam. Those teachings are promoted in Islamic mosque today across the world. So don’t tell me this act of murder was not attributed or incited by Islam.
