“Before his execution, ISIS forced Nabil Habashi to record a video in which he said his name and that the Church was cooperating with the army against the Islamic State.”
The goal is to intimidate the Christians into fearing to oppose the Islamic State in any effective way. There are Islamic groups in the West that operate in the same way, using intimidation to try to frighten those who oppose jihad violence and Sharia oppression into silence.
“ISIS releases video of the execution of The martyrdom of a Coptic man, Nabil Habashi, who was kidnapped in Sinai,” by Raghda El-Sayed El-Shai.com, April 18, 2021:
The terrorist organization ISIS broadcast a video of the execution of a Copt in the village of Bir al-Abed in North Sinai, Nabil Habashi, who was kidnapped in November 2020.
The firing squad carried out the execution under the pretext of Christian support for the Egyptian army and the Egyptian state against the Islamic State.
Last November, gunmen kidnapped Nabil Habashi Salama in Bir al-Abd in North Sinai among passers-by….
They asked for a ransom of five million; then no one heard of them until the video clip appeared today.
Nabil Habashi was the one who built the sole Church in Bir al-Abd center.
Before his execution, ISIS forced Nabil Habashi to record a video in which he said his name and that the Church was cooperating with the army against the Islamic State.
Before the execution, the terrorists sent a threatening message to the Coptics supporting the Egyptian state.
They said that Coptics must pay the ransom, indicating that the Christians of Egypt that this is a penalty for those who follow the army, and the bill is long, and the calculation is complex.
Then they shot the Habashi in the head….

Ignorant barbaric bastards. Totally racist and should be condemned. Egypt should be designated an unsafe destination as should Turkey. No tourist income will motivate the sensible people in the country to oppose the government until something is done.

Yes–a good site.

While popeists are building mosques, this Christian here gets killed by jihadis for building a Church.
Could it get more absurdly unfair??
Keith O says
The only good things to come from this is that now the Christians and the Egyptian government have had the line drawn in the sand and
at least with a bullet in the head it was quick instead of having his head cut off!
Mauricio says
Right, Keith, the fact that the jihadis improved their execution method feels like a drop of water in the dry, big desert.
Keith O says
If your on the receiving end, then yeah.
I’d rather go out quick with a bullet in the brain than bleed out like an animal, then have my head held up like a trophy.
Mauricio says
I hear you.

Christians are seldom protected in Egypt. I would not assume that Egypt will crack down on ISIS.
Kafir says
The Egyptian government and army are in direct conflict with ISIS insurgents in Sinai for a while now. The problem is that our army – despite being the biggest importer of arms for a good decade now (even if we can’t afford it)- is grossly inept. In the case of Copts, the problem is worse because what you said is true about the government and army’s willingness to protect them. Copts are treated as second class citizens by the constitution, and the bodies of the government are often partners in terrorizing the Copts, forcibly converting and displacing them, and in seizing their money.

Kafir, it is true that Al Sisi–quite rightly–considers ISIS to be a huge threat to current Egyptian authority, and has indeed been fighting them on this basis. But I think they are less likely to taget ISIS for going after Christian citizens.
Al Sisi’s regime is at least not directly murdering Christians–better by default than many parts of Dar-al-Islam, and the reason that most Copts support him.
But–as you note–they are doing little to actually protect the Copts–and generally oppress and persecute Christians themselves.

Egypt: Islamic State video shows its murder of 62-year-old Christian man who built the only church in his area
………………
Horrifying–this poor man.
And this is the first time I have heard of the Islamic State operating in Egypt–probably not the last, though.
