Much of that backlash will come from non-Muslims in the UK, who have been skillfully and relentlessly indoctrinated to hate their own nation and culture, and will bristle at any suggestion that British culture might have any features that are superior to Pakistani culture. All cultures are equal, including Sharia cultures that systematically oppress women.
“‘I know the backlash I will get’: Saira Khan claims Asian culture has held her back more than racism as she credits Britain for ‘encouraging her to make the most of herself,'” by Jason Chester, MailOnline, April 1, 2021:
Saira Khan claims her Pakistani culture has been more restrictive to her progression than any racism she has encountered as an Asian woman in the United Kingdom.
The Loose Women panellist was born and raised in Derbyshire to working class immigrant parents from Pakistan administered Kashmir.
But University of Brighton educated Saira, 50, insists she encountered no significant social boundaries while growing up on a council estate and credited British society for helping her make something of herself.
Sharing a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday afternoon, the presenter, who was raised a Muslim, insisted her biggest obstacles have come from within the Asian community itself.
She wrote: ‘As an Asian woman born in this country to immigrant parents, I am proud to be British, grateful for this country helping my parents to help me to recognise and realise my potential.
‘If I’m honest, as an Asian woman it’s my Asian culture that has tried to hold me back more than any racism I have faced. That’s my truth.’
Saira also insisted racism is not the one-way street it has been portrayed through the spate of recent protests and marches conducted in major cities across the world….
‘Being a victim is easy. Getting off your a**e and making it happen with the right attitude is bloody hard. But that’s what it takes.’…
Saira previously announced she’s no longer a practising Muslim after years of feeling ‘guilty, caged and unhappy’….
She told The Mirror: ‘Saying I’m Muslim and then having a boyfriend, wearing clothes that go against the Muslim dress code, having a drink and living a non-Muslim life only brings guilt, self-loathing, loneliness and a feeling of being caged.’
Saira also clarified that while some Muslims ‘are the most humble people I know’ and most of her values are based on the ‘spiritual aspect of the faith’, she’s influenced by other teachings and has only been ‘hurting’ herself by ‘living a lie’ for her loved ones.
She added: ‘It has taken me till the age of 50 to find the courage to say it. I’m doing it now for my own wellbeing. I want to be honest and feel free to live my life by my own rules. I have found a huge relief in being honest.
‘I know that one of the reasons I have been so angry and unhappy in my life is because of the many contradictions I’ve had to live with. I’ve not dared to share these feelings before because the very few Muslim women who have are called sinful and some have even been targeted with death threats.’…

Good for her. She is a self made woman and a free as a bird, just like the song by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Why do they say “asian” when they mean moslem??
The Indian community is nothing like that.
Infidel says
Camouflage terminology. They think the average Brit is too stupid to figure out that this is true of muslims of various continents, not just Asia: muslims from places like Somalia, Morocco as well as local converts have all been guilty of it
Besides, if they were to state their actual nationalities, such as Paki or Bangladeshi, that would be a dead giveaway to them being muslim: not many Hindus from either of those countries typically make it as far as the west: they usually have to find refuge in India

Infidel There was case a few years ago where a British white girl had been lured on SM into meeting a Somali Moose Limb ‘boy’ then gangraped by his friends. When the case was tried, the court was packed with their supporters who were cheering them on.

Saira is a brave woman. Walking away from her previous culture would not have been easy, Indeed as she says, “It’s bloody hard”! It’s hard because it takes courage, knowing that you will disappoint and maybe anger some of the relatives and friends you will undoubtedly leave behind. Some loyal souls may stick by you, but others probably won’t. Some could even threaten you with harm.
People contemplating such a move should first cultivate some friendships in the culture they wish to adopt; and if they are threatened with retaliation from bigots from their former life, they should move away and even change their name.
All cultures are not equal. Islam is a controlling totalitarian warrior culture that values men more than women, and death more than life. The penalties in the Sharia for apostasy and blasphemy are there deliberately to prevent people from escaping its clutches. Without them, Islam would have disappeared soon after the death of Muhammad, and would now be merely an aberration in the history of the world’s religions.

+1 Rueben Singh. I’ve never known a people who have integrated so quickly and so successfully in the U.S. as have the Indian Americans.

They all want to be doctors in the USA. The parents drum it into the children to become doctors or nothing at all. I wonder why they choose not to to return to India after receiving their medical degrees. Like anyone else, it’s the million dollar incomes of a licensed specialist physician that drive their desire to become a doctor. I wonder how many would continue practicing as a physician if their incomes would be that of a school teacher. Probably none. Funny how both professions are in the business of “helping people”. Isn’t that the reason most give, as an answer, when asked why they want to be a doctor. They are all liars!

BeneathVC. The Indian culture is far older by at least a thousand years and far richer than the Islamic.
so called culture. AKA the Mohammad dictatorship. Sadly among Hindu men the women are not respected as much as they should be and there is a lot of raping.

In UK, in popular usage, “Asian” means usually people from Indian Subcontinent. ( India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and sometimes Afghanistan ). So whenever Pakistani or Bangladeshi Muslims do shitty things like grooming under age white girls, the British press will call them as “Asian grooming gangs” to be politically correct.
On the other hand, In US, in popular usage, “Asian” means usually people from East Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam , Philippines). For Indians, they call them “Asian Indians” to distinguish from Native Americans (who are also called American Indians or Red Indians).
Walter Sieruk says
This is because Pakistan culture is really Islamic “culture” and Islam is a religion of harsh oppressive misogyny.

……………..
Good for her for leaving Islam–and for telling the truth.

I truly love this gal! I would clone her if I could. She is a true achiever, and a woman of substance without the misandry.
She went on the tough BBC quiz show Mastermind not so long back, and eventually secured the coveted Mastermind title for that year. No mean feat! One of her several specialist subjects was the Anglo-American TV co-production ‘Space 1999’, which she says she watched with grateful awe as a child. She actually went on one of the Mastermind editions dressed in a Moonbase Alpha uniform that had been loaned to her.
I think Saira realised, as I – another second-generation [non-Muslim] immigrant to this country – realised, that anything was possible in this bustling new world, that the ground we stood and walked on was hallowed and enchanted, and held endless possibilities.
No one intelligent who wants to progress in this life is going to hang on to Mohammad’s bronze-age mumbo-juju.. why would they, when they now have at their disposal ALL OF THIS!
Cheers, Saira… and I hope one day to meet you at the Eagle Transporter bay for our reccy mission up to that there moon. We’ve come a long way, baby… so why stop here?

Before everyone gets all over ga-ga over Saira Khan, L’ll just point out that a couple of years ago, she was on TV shouting ‘bigot’ at Tommy Robinson for saying exactly what she’s saying now. She’s also on record complaining about the very racism she now says isn’t that much of a factor. I smell a book deal!

This women is correct, and I hope that racism holds no one back. Lets judge people by their actions and what they bring to humanity, not skin color or ethnic background.
Rueben Singh says
I have met a few moslem women, the smart ones know that the religion is oppressive and if they do follow it, it is only in the minimal sense.
The other sorts are the ones who are basically too thick to put 2 and 2 together and fool themselves that islam gives them some great position and guarantees their rights. That the misogeny is “cultural” not religious and it’s really a mistake in translation.
Iranian women on the other hand, they know and despise it. They are smart.
I do wonder how many of them are secret apostates ??
tim gallagher says
A brave person. I hope that she inspires some other Muslims to ditch Islam and join the more civilised, less backward, non-Muslim part of the human race. The more Muslims that wake up and pack up and leave that disgusting, backward ideology the better. I hope she manages to stay safe as I can imagine plenty of Muslim vermin will seek to do her harm.

We, in the west, follow a Christian-Judeo philosophy whether you believe in the religion or not. It is a good philosophy. It has allowed us to become successful and wealthy. Yet we continue to treat Islam as a favored religion giving it the status of a protected religion whereas Christianity is not. If I tear up a Bible no-one will care; if I tear up a Koran I can be arrested. The Koran teaches nothing but violence, violence and more violence. It teaches many other things which are criminal acts in all western countries. There are too many to note individually. It is so foul it makes Mein Kamp read like Winnie the Pooh. Why is it still legal to sell? Why has Islam not been banned? In our country teenage girls are still being killed for wearing a pair of jeans.
