This will be blamed on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, but the Sunni-Shi’ite jihad has been going on for 1,400 years. It started long before the American boondoggle in Afghanistan, and will still be going on when our presence there is just a dim memory.
“Islamic State claims responsibility for bomb attacks in Afghan capital that kill 7,” by Tameem Akhgar, Associated Press, June 13, 2021:
KABUL, Afghanistan — The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for bombing two minivans in a mostly Shiite neighborhood in the Afghan capital that killed seven people. Among the dead were two employees of Afghanistan’s state-run film company, a colleague said Sunday.
In a statement issued late Saturday, Afghanistan’s Islamic State affiliate said its operatives blew up two minivans carrying “disbeliever Shiites” using so-called sticky bombs. Sticky bombs slapped onto cars trapped in Kabul’s chaotic traffic are the newest weapons terrorizing Afghans in the increasingly lawless nation.
Film director Sahra Karimi said on Twitter on Sunday that Fatima Mohammadi and Tayiba Musavi, who worked for the Afghan Film Organization, were among the six killed in the first attack. Their families identified their burned bodies in the forensic hospital of Kabul, she said.
Karimi said Mohammadi and Musavi were animators working on a film for children, and they were returning home when they were attacked….

Afghanistan is the single most mountainous country on earth. If I am not mistaken it has more mountains over 20,000 feet than any other nation. It is approximately the size of Texas which means it is some three times larger than Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). It is ready made for guerilla and defensive warfare. Almost everyone there is Muslim which means that almost everyone there is at least a confused human being, often times an evil human being as well.
It is a hopeless place and America has now been there for twenty years and I am sorry to say, and take absolutely no joy in saying this, has essentially accomplished nothing. What makes this so extra tragic and stupid is that many American soldiers have lost their lives or have been terribly disfigured while engaging in a mission which had no clear directive or path to total victory, rather like the Vietnam War and one could argue the Korean War as well.
There is also the monumental financial cost that must be taken into account in assessing this American mission leading to Nowheresville. I can understand why a small number of American Special Forces should have been used now and again to take out the most despicable of Muslims in Afghanistan but this is something far, far different from the kind of ill-considered commitment American has made to this sorry-ass country since 2001. Engaging in nation-building in an Islamic hellhole is a very costly fool’s errand.
Afghanistan serves as the model example of why the Islamic world needs to be cordoned off from the rest of mankind as much as possible. The Islamic polities number over 50 and they are all hopeless, some more so, some less so, precisely because they are Islamic. And yet still most leaders and elites in the West refuse to realize how hopeless and dangerous Islam truly is with its many heinous tenets and highly risible nonsensical directives.
Once in a while man is noble and enlightened but most of the time man is a collective idiot. American involvement in Afghanistan serves as a case in point of the latter. And what I very specifically find so disgusting is that Bush 43, who got us into Afghanistan without understanding Islam virtually at all (still doesn’t), by his own admission said he voted for Condoleezza Rice for President in the 2020 election, his own Secretary of State who when told about the dangers of going into Iraq in 2003 because of the pure hatred Sunni and Shiite Muslims have had for each other in said region (hardly a country) for over a millennium replied with “Well, they’ll just have to get over that.” Meanwhile, Donald Trump while running for President in March of 2016 said, and I quote, “I think Islam hates us,” and once President did all he could to reduce the American military presence in Islamic nations as much as possible AND started no new wars AND decimated ISIS which held some 80,000 square miles of territory when Trump came into office but which Islamic terrorist group had virtually no territory when Trump left office in January of 2021. And yet Bush 43 voted for Rice, not Trump—in microcosm why I am so done with all the Bushes.
Until Islam is identified for the malevolent ideology which it is, only tactical victories here and there is the best that can be expected. After all, when evil is treated as good nothing good can come from this. Hasn’t yet. Never will.

Wellington, wouldn’t Chile be the most mountainous country on earth, since the Andes runs throughout it’s length?
Agree w/ everything else you said
Wellington says
Perhaps, Infidel, but the reason why I stated what I did about Afghanistan being the most mountainous is due to more peaks over 20,000 feet than any other country.

Wellington,
A factual and evidence-based post, my compliments.
When on active duty as a US Navy physician, I had participated in joint Air Force C-130 aerovacs of US military members, many who had been seriously injured in Afghanistan.
Still makes me sick…

Fine post.

Speaking of the US mission in Kabul and protecting it, I think the US should have its mission in Tajikistan cover both Afghanistan and Pakistan, and close its embassy in both countries. Any day could be a jihadist attack on either of those

Afghanistan: Sunni Muslims bomb two minivans in Shi’ite neighborhood, murder seven ‘disbeliever Shi’ites’
………………….
In places where there are no Infidels to murder, Muslims are happy to kill other-sect Muslims.
Infidel says
And it’s probably best that way, since other sect muslims too have read quran and sunnah, and are in no illusion of what sunnis have in store for them. At least you don’t have them pretending that their enemies are distorting islam (they simply believe that their enemies are following false doctrines)
In any case, the real divisions in those countries are ethnic, once it turns out that religion is common to all of them – hanafi sunni.
One thing to note here: Afghanistan and Pakistan are virtually one country, since the Pashtuns/Pathans don’t think that the Durand Line is a legitimate boundary since it divides Pashtunistan

Good points, Infidel.
