He’s 33. He won’t serve his full sentence. In 15 or 20 years or sooner, he will be back on the streets. But by then he will have reformed and been “deradicalized,” right? Wrong. Nothing — nothing whatsoever — is done to jihadis while they’re in prison to disabuse them of their jihadi sentiments. Quite the contrary, in fact: they’re given Qur’ans and encouraged to pray with other Muslims. They often emerge more hardened in their jihadi views than ever.
“Egyptian who carried out attack outside Louvre sent to prison,” by Elad Benari, Arutz Sheva, June 25, 2021 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
A French court on Thursday jailed for 30 years a man who attacked soldiers with machetes outside the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris in 2017, AFP reports.
Judges issued a sentence in line with anti-terror prosecutors’ demands for Egyptian citizen Abdalla El Hamahmi, 33, who did not react from behind his coronavirus mask as it was read out to him via an interpreter.
A married father who did commercial work for a Dubai-based company, Hamahmi rushed at a group of soldiers patrolling the Louvre area early on February 3, 2017, armed with a machete in each hand and wearing a T-shirt with a skull motif.
Shouting “Allahu Akbar”, he wounded one soldier on the scalp before himself being severely wounded when the patrol opened fire.
Hamahmi insisted throughout the trial that he had planned to protest against French policy in Syria by destroying art masterpieces inside the Louvre Museum, which houses thousands of works including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
He claimed to have been surprised to encounter soldiers, who have patrolled central Paris since a wave of Islamist terrorist attacks that killed more than 250 in France from 2015. He said that he attacked them “as a reflex”, saying he was acting “like a robot”.
During the trial, Hamahmi attempted to deny the authenticity of a video in which he swore allegiance to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terror group. However, he later admitted that he tried to join ISIS in the Middle East before turning his sights on France….

France imported this ‘choice’ immigrant from Egypt, the home of the fascist Muslim Brotherhood.
Why does France not block guys like him from entering? Wouldn’t that be cheaper and more secure for everybody?

It would be “Islamophobic”…

“They often emerge more hardened in their jihadi views than ever.”
I understand that “always” and “never” never apply in any large group or sample. (The law of large numbers-That which is not prohibited is required.) But is there any data of the proportion “hardened” and “softened”?
Lavéritétriomphera says
Bonsoir Franck,
“But is there any data of the proportion “hardened” and “softened”?”
That question is largely unanswerable, because “hardened” can become “softened” and vice versa. The police do their job but it’s clear that number of them know how to melt away into the masses.
Bien à toi

Greetings Kevin!
I agree that the obvious answer is there is no proof of rehabilitation that can be found from research.
The primary benefit of long term jailing of bad guys is to keep them off the streets longer, reducing the number that must be dealt with by law abiding citizens and enforcement. If enough are jailed, then we bankrupt the government (the taxpayer). If you think about it, the Holocaust amounted to a Third Front for Nazi Germany, diverting massive resources from the fight with the Allies. It cost money, time and resources that could have been spent defending Germany. Now, jailing terrorists diverts resources from defending our countries to the same result.
A while ago, someone suggested that I read Without Conscience, by Robert Hare, about his work with diagnosed psychopaths. I learned useful information from that source and commend it to you.
I always wish you well. Frank

Bonsoir Frank,
We are at war, and war always cost too much at all levels (money, time, plus the loss of human life and suffering).
A psychopath obeys the law of the strongest, he doesn’t show compassion and his victim is a trophy.
I always wish you well too

Kevin, on that we agree. Frank

They would emerge believing much less of Islam and almost nothing of jihad if they were required to read ‘DID MUHAMMAD EXIST?’ by Robert Spencer while encarcerated.
Frank Anderson says
Honored friend mortimer, My uncle and father by choice #2 in sequence, had many sayings and stories to fit a whole bunch of situations. I wholeheartedly agree with your proposition of the wisdom of our host. “You can lead a mule to water but you can’t make him drink.” A pious, committed muslim would never accept guidance from a worthless, lowlife, subhuman, kafir inflidel. We are useless as teachers to people who refuse to think or learn.

Grimly true, Frank.
Lavéritétriomphera says
Ami Franck,
I agree with you, the Islamic ideology forbids free thought and therefore causes distress at myriad people, Muslims or not.
Bien à toi

J., As short as I can tell a story from law school, over 40 years ago: I was in charge of video recording a mock negotiation class and got interested in the subject. As I had neither the time nor money to take the class, I bought and read 6 books on the subject. ALL of the books agreed that the first requirement of any negotiation is a reliable counterpart. When the counterpart is a muslim who accepts the “final, perfect, complete, unchangeable” teachings and practice, that includes the rule to lie to a non-believer whenever advantage can be obtained. That goes back to the very start of their war of conquest and cannot change.
My point is that why waste time trying to understand? We can look at the Earth’s shadow on the Moon during an eclipse and tell the Earth is round. What more debate or analysis is required? Whole countries and continents are being run by collaborators and traitors aiming a destruction and surrender. They want us dead or enslaved.

Can a French reader tell us how a 30 year sentence translates as time served?
rooare says
Bringing back the guillotine would permanently deter each jihadi recipient from further hardening in their jihadist ideology.
mortimer says
The guillotine will not return. The French intelligence agencies should be working on a protocol to deprogram jihadists while they are imprisoned.
rooare says
Of course the guillotine will not return, as far as deprograming jihadists it’s almost impossible to deprogram those that believe their divinely commanded to subjugate the entire world under the brutal sharia by any means available and to murder those that refuse to submit. Blaise Pascal said it best, “Men never do evil so thoroughly and joyfully as when they do it for religious conviction”.

Mortimer, you have never explaned why Jihadists would suddeny start listening to the “filthy Infidels”.

For those who constantly shout “deport them all”–which just ain’t gonna happen:
Egyptian who carried out attack outside Louvre
Yes, deport the bastard. After he serves his sentence.

Agreed, PRCS. No reason Jihadists should be free from having to deal with breaking laws.

France: Machete-wielding Muslim who attacked soldiers outside Louvre while screaming ‘Allahu akbar’ gets 30 years
……………………….
30 years is better than nothing. But, as noted, this Jihadist will not serve 30 years. And will he be deported after serving his sentence? Not likely–so he will be free to try and murder more innocent people.
More:
Hamahmi insisted throughout the trial that he had planned to protest against French policy in Syria by destroying art masterpieces inside the Louvre Museum, which houses thousands of works including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
……………………….
Oh, well *that’s* OK, then…
Really, does this Jihadist thug think that his wanting to destroy our priceless works of art should be considered a mitigating factor? *Ugh*.

He claimed to have been surprised to encounter soldiers, who have patrolled central Paris since a wave of Islamist terrorist attacks that killed more than 250 in France from 2015. He said that he attacked them “as a reflex”, saying he was acting “like a robot”.
……………………….
I’ve done things on occasion without thinking–I think all of us have. For me, this generally involves something like eating several donuts when I had intended to eat just one, or telling my husband “just one more chapter” when I’m reading a compelling book, and then realizing that I’ve become so engrossed that I’ve read half the book and it is now one o’clock in the morning.
But I have to say I’ve never attacked people with a machete “as a reflex”…but then, I’m not a pious Muslim…
PRCS says
“Not likely”
Likely true.

As soon as their sentence is completed, they should be permanently deported and not allowed back into the country. A severe punishment has deterrent value.

I fear it’s just a matter of time before Moslems succeed in destroying irreplaceable works of art in European museums. Such destruction is justified – even mandated – by Islam’s proscription of statuary and illustrated depictions of sentient beings. To date, countless acts of desecration by Muslims have occurred in European churches, and there is reason to suspect that the massive fire damage at Notre Dame in Paris may have actually been arson, with Muslims hired to do maintenance work being suspects. I’m actually surprised that Europe’s museums, being such obvious soft targets, haven’t yet been successfully attacked.
