It looks as if there is a tremendous amount of interest, for which I am grateful, in my forthcoming book The Critical Qur’an: Explained from Key Islamic Commentaries and Contemporary Historical Research, which will be published in November by Bombardier Books. Even though it won’t be available for five months, it has already zoomed to the #1 spot in Amazon’s “History of Islam” category. Clearly people are tired of being lied to by those who insist, in the face of near-daily jihad violence, that Islam is a religion of peace. The Critical Qur’an provides an honest translation of the Qur’anic text, plus extensive explanatory notes showing how the text is understood in mainstream Islamic traditions. It is also the first Qur’an edition ever to include variant readings from Qur’anic manuscripts that differ from what has become the standard version.

That might ruffle a few feathers…good.

Great as this is, another suggestion to RS for a subsequent project: compile his ‘Blogging the quran’ series that he did several years ago for HotAir into a book. It was the best explanation of every quran chapter that appeared

Infidel, Spencer did do this some years ago, I believe. I’m not sure if it’s still in print.
Infidel says
Doesn’t have to be: if it exists in ebook format, then I’d be happy to get it on Nook

Infidel seems to be asking for a book of FAQ’s to respond to the 50 or so commonly asked questions regarding Islam.
I suggest to him that WikiIslam already does something like that.

Infidel says
Not quite. Years ago, there was a series on HotAir and on this site called ‘Blogging the quran’. It did a very good explanation of every chapter (actually became group of chapters as it raced towards the end)
If it’s already been done, as Graven suggests, that’s good. Maybe I’ll look for it in Nook

Robert Spencer seems indefatigable.
mortimer says
Robert Spencer is now one of the greatest experts on political Islam and his legacy will inspire and guide both Muslims who wish to leave Islam and kafirs who wish to understand the deviousness of this Death Cult.
In the ‘Critical Quran’ Robert Spencer sets right what most English intentionally cover up … namely, the LITERAL MEANINGS of Koranic passages that speak of subjugation, slavery, misogyny and warfare to subjugate disbelieving KAFIRS.
None of the popular English translations of the Koran so far have been strictly honest about conveying the original intent of the medieval Arabic source text.
The original Arabic words are filled with opacities, ungrammatical forms, errors of style and errors of fact, as well as being vicious, misogynistic and xenophobic towards all disbelievers.
