Crisis Editor-in-Chief Eric Sammons, author of the new book, Deadly Indifference: How the Church Lost Her Mission, and How We Can Reclaim It, joined Conservative Casual Friday show host Andrew E. Harrod for a wide-ranging discussion about theological issues concerning the Catholic Church, Islam, and others in this world and the next. A Methodist convert to the Catholic Church, Sammons examines how various concepts of religious pluralism have weakened the Catholic Church’s influence, piety, and missionary zeal since the Vatican II council in the 1960s.

Jesus said “no one comes to the Father except through Me”.
He did not say that no one comes to the Father except through a church led by a Muslim – erotic heretic who falsely claims that the “god” of Islam and the Triune God are one and the same.
As a Catholic I believe that I have a moral obligation to do what I can to remove this heretic. He is destroying the church with his weakness and lack of intellectual honesty. I am therefore not attending church and will not do so so long as this “pope” is destroying Catholicism. Yes I know this makes me a sinner, But I am at least not sinning by supporting the destruction of the Catholic Church.
I found the most poignant part of this video the singing of Ave Maria while photographs alternated between an empty church and the “pope” nearly engaged in a homosexual act with a Muslim leader.
I found the comments regarding Christian missionaries in Muslim countries to be enigmatic. Where are Christian missionaries allowed to proselytize in Muslim countries without putting their lives in danger?
Given that Robert Spencer has now conclusively proven that Mohammed did not exist it follows that the Koran is a total fabrication and Islam is false. Let’s tell this truth to everyone, especially Muslims. It is so much more rational than a belief in a capricious god who chose an objectively evil man as his prophet and filled him with directives which are also plainly evil.

Terry, I don’t understand how you can not be supporting the destruction of the Catholic Church by not attending church. Pope Francis is a mortal man and he will pass away some day. Keep in mind that Popes come and go but Jesus promised He would always be with us and that whatever someone asks in His name it will be granted – if it is for what is good. Even though I am a sinner also, I will ask Jesus to have mercy on you and on the whole world and I hope you would do the same for me and for the whole world. I trust that Jesus will not feel doing as much (yet so little) is not a good thing. I learned this from the little Sister Faustina – who, of all things, described herself as the secretary of Jesus and wrote down the things dictated to her in her visions of Christ. Instead of Muhammad and his claim to be handing down a message from Allah, I prefer to believe little Sister Faustina and the message she received from Jesus. That’s all I know to tell you. I hope it helps.

My view is that in the short term Catholics need to withdraw support until this Pope is forced out. If we continue to support the church with him in office he will likely be replaced by someone who is of the same mind when he moves on to the next phase.

Terry, well, you do as you think is best. I think I will still go to Mass on Sunday. I like also to view the Mass every day online. Salt and Light Media channel on YouTube posts a video each morning of the daily Mass from Montreal that takes up only about a half hour of my time. I find it a good way to start each day. I suppose it is a way to go to church without going to church, ha! Anyway, I wish you well.

Terry Gain,
I was brought up Roman Catholic and had attended mass on a regular basis – until Pope Francis. Even though I know some wonderful local Catholic priests, I find it hard to financially support the current Roman Catholic Church with its rot at the very top.
I still remain a devout Christian and have explored other Christian churches and personal Bible study classes…

This Pope is the “One World Government Pope” more concern with “Climate change” and communist equalization of world wealth, then in speaking out against the killing ,enslaving, and exploitation of Christians in Moslem Majority lands. Allah,s promised “heaven” is orgy promised to Jihadist who die murdering men women and children who are “unbelievers” that is Islam mission statement for the last 1400 years. This Pope natively believes he can make nice with these violent cult followers whose swore duty is to kill and or enslave Christians ?

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…..”
There can be only one Truth, just as their is one Way, as Jesus said that He is ***the*** Way and ****the**** Truth and is ***the**** Life, leading us to one “Life eternal.”
If there had been made to be more than one of these things, Jesus would not have used the language He did to make clear how one must worship….”The true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and Truth.”
mozlums speak lies, preach lies, spread lies, rely on lies. This disgusting creep who refers to himself as ‘the pope,’ when speaking to those gathered in Rome to hear him, does not speak “Truth” and doesn’t encourage those who look to him….those misguided persons….for spiritual guidance and help, to seek Truth, but to engage in listening to the lies of mozlums….as in “dialogue,”…knowing that mozlums don’t listen to anyone except other mozlums. Any ‘dialogue’ with a mozlum is one-sided. And it’s all a big bunch of satanic lies, start to finish.

The positive Catholic church attitude to Islam did not start with pope Francis. It started with the Second Vatican Council. It declared that Islam possesses elements of truth but wisely did not explain what they are. Do you remember pope John Paul II kissing the Qur’an? This is a long term develops and there is no sign that it will change for the better.
Peter says
When you see the Catholic Church of Rome [the first Global Institution] cosying up with Islam whose aim is [by force if needs must] dominate the world.
I am worried is there an agenda that we are not aware of? Old fashioned Catholicsm was a brutish religion, [obey the Popes, Cardinals and Bishops] version of Christianity or else. The Islamic Mullahs, obey our version of Islam, or else.
Is their a plan to combines Catholic Christianity with Islam to create a one world global religion. Throw in the Communist Religion [sorry ideology] and you definetly will have a One World Government.
CogitoErgoSum says
The teachings of the Catholic Church are the same today as they were during the days of the Roman Empire and there are more Catholics than any other group of Christians. Are we still brutal? The people who led the Church may at times have acted in a brutal manner in trying to discipline heretics but the teachings of the Church do not call for any kind of brutality toward anyone. Also, some of the early Catholic Christians did react violently towards the pagans who had been persecuting them but, again, I don’t know of any teachings of the Church that made them do that. People are weak and often tend to let their anger get the best of them … and Catholics are people.
Lastly, as for anyone forming some kind of world government by combining Islam, Communism and Catholicism … all I can say is – that is not going to happen. Catholic church buildings may disappear and the religion may dwindle to a few followers as in the early days but it will not be completely consumed by Communism and Islam. It survived in the catacombs of Rome and it will survive underground again if it must. I have full faith in that.
