Such is the fate of anyone who insults Islam: torment or death. This is not due to “extremism”; Islamic law mandates death for “blasphemers.” Unlike any other religion, insulting it leads to open calls for violent retribution.
This story of Mila has been ongoing for over a year, and shows how relentlessly brutal some Muslims can be in the face of any perceived insult to their religion.
French schoolteacher Samuel Paty was beheaded for supposedly insulting Muhammad by showing Muhammad cartoons to his class. More than one person organized his murder, while thousands of Muslims across the Muslim world blasted his Sharia “crime” of blasphemy instead of condemning his murder. Even in Canada, an imam said that Paty was a “filthy excuse for a human being,” and prayed: “O Allah, destroy enemies of Islam.”
And now we see a Muslim mob launching an ongoing attack against Mila for insulting Muhammad, and forcing her to live while constantly looking over her shoulder.
Still, the world falls for the “Islamophobia” subterfuge.
“France: 11 convicted of cyberbullying teen who slammed Islam,” by Nicolas Vaud-Montagny, Associated Press, July 7, 2021:
PARIS (AP) — A French court on Wednesday convicted 11 of 13 people charged with harassing and threatening a teenager who harshly criticized Islam in online posts and ended up changing schools and receiving police protection to preserve her safety.
The verdict was the first of its kind since France created a new Paris court in January to prosecute online crimes, including harassment and discrimination.
The court sentenced the defendants to suspended prison terms of four to six months and fined them about $1,770 each.
The teen at the center of the landmark cyberbullying case, who has been identified publicly only by her first name, Mila, testified last month that she felt as if she had been “condemned to death.”
Speaking after the verdict, she said all victims should join the fight against online abuse and that harassers should be denied access to social media networks.
“I was expecting worse and, honestly, we won and will win again because what I want is that, united, we will never give up. We will continue to fight,” Mila said.
Mila, who describes herself as atheist, was 16 when she started posting videos on Instagram and later TikTok harshly criticizing Islam and the Quran. Now 18, she testified that “I don’t like any religion, not just Islam.”
“What I want is that those (who harass) be considered a plague and ought to be forbidden access to social networks(,)…those who cyberbully, who threaten with death, who deprive one of their freedom and who incite one to suicide,” she said. “And I never want the victims to be blamed again.”
Her lawyer, Richard Malka, said Mila has received some 100,000 threatening messages, including death threats, rape threats, misogynist messages and hateful messages about her sexual orientation.
Mila left one high school, then another. She is now monitored daily by the police for her safety.
“Social networks are the street.
When you pass someone in the street, you don’t insult them, threaten them, make fun of them,” the presiding judge, Michel Humbert, said. “What you don’t do in the street, don’t do on social media.”
The trial raised uncomfortable questions about freedom of expression, freedom to criticize a religion and respect for France’s millions of Muslims….

But the court case was focused on cyberbullying.
Kudos.

French Teenager Who Posted Islamophobic Content Visits Paris Mosque
[…]The visit comes just a day after a court in France convicted 11 out of 13 people, sentencing them to four to six months in prison.
[…]AFP said that Mila was asked about her opinion regarding Islam during her trip to the mosque.
She said that she “would be mixed on the issue. It depends. Between things that are misinterpreted between what is really my thought,” she said.
[…]Rector of the mosque, Chems-eddine Hafiz , who accompanied Mila on the visit, explained that “Islam is a religion which, of course, it is necessary to respect.”
The rector said that Mila’s presence at the mosque is a source of hope. ( … )We want to really show her what Islam is,” he said.

Mila, a French teen harassed online over a series of social media rants on Islam, meets with the rector of the Paris Grande Mosquée, Chems-Eddine Hafiz, who gives her a koran.

Very troubling stuff, Martin–especially this:
[…]Rector of the mosque, Chems-eddine Hafiz , who accompanied Mila on the visit, explained that “Islam is a religion which, of course, it is necessary to respect.”
By “respect”, one presumes he means *fear*. Note no condemnation of all the Muslims who threatened to murder Mila.
This thug Hafiz also sued Charlie Hebdo for daring to caricature Muhammed.

He has also threatened Macron, saying that no defense against Jihad terrorism can be allowed to “take French Muslims hostage”.
Martin says
AFP published a longer video yesterday —-
There were only “2” Muslims on the “11” convicted !!!
next step … conversion and clitoridectomy?
er…. do they have blue koran for men — pink seems so patriarchal–so binary
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u143GM3nwQ4
gravenimage says
Huh–the NYT, Al Jazeera, France24. the BBC, and others still have the original story of 11 Muslims convicted, Martin. I couldn’t find the story under AFP.
Martin says
@gravenimage
… I know but that is exactly what the rector of the mosque says at 1:19 on the video .
… Only two of those convicted were Muslims

——
…. and then there is this paragraph on the NYT ( JULY 07 2021 )
The defendants — a mix of Muslims, Christians and atheists with no criminal records — struggled to explain why they had posted vicious messages. (A court official has refused to fully identify the defendants. It is common in France, especially in cases involving the young, not to publish the names of defendants if they are not public figures.)

I wonder if she went to the mosque voluntarily or because of the coercion of French state. Only time will tell.
If she really meant that islam is a religion of hate, what business she had in the mosque?
Salman Rushdie, an author condemned to death by Islamic fatwas etc tried pacifying terrorists by converting to Islam. I only hope she doesn’t do anything stupid like Salman.
The rector of the mosque demanded respect for islam, being a “religion” . I understand the state should not be in the business of listing any religion as bad or good, only Islamic nations do that. The man on the street can know if some religion is counterfeit or not. A counterfeit religion can be evil.
The rector has given Mila a “candy” of religion that most accept without questioning. Like some foolish in India state: No religion teaches murder, rape etc.
Wellington says
She stated she doesn’t like any religion. Well, that is her right (or ought to be) but Buddhists, Christians, Jews, Hindus, et al. are not going to harm anyone for being averse to all religion—but Muslims aplenty will.
And the shame here does not belong only to those Muslims who actually threatened this young woman or would actually do her harm. No, the entire Ummah is at fault for adhering to a religion that requires death for blasphemy. Again can be seen that the so-called moderate Muslims give cover to the most “devout” Muslims and thus themselves are guilty, complicit with evil—you bet they are—all of them.

So true Wellington, they are all tarred with the same evil islamic brush.

Yes Wellington,
The entire Ummah is at fault for glorifying vigilantism in the name of a god, who is found to be very much evil with no just qualities.

France: 11 Muslims convicted of threatening and tormenting teen who criticized Islam online
……………..
This is something–but it’s not much. Four to six months for *threatening death*? And most of them will not serve the whole term. Then, why just 11? Mila received *hundreds* of death threats.
More:
“France: 11 convicted of cyberbullying teen who slammed Islam”
……………..
Death threats go *way* beyond cyberbullying–it’s not as though these thugs said Mila was ugly or criticized her hair, or even went after her for being a lesbian.
john smith says
So true Gravenimage, death threats go way beyond cyberbulling, and none of them will be going to prison like they should be, as the sentences were suspended.
gravenimage says
I didn’t see that the sentences (inadequate as they were) have actually been suspended, John. Have I missed something?
gravenimage says
You are right, John, about the suspended sentences. Please see below.
john smith says
Yes Gravenimage you have missed something, the third sentence under her photo quite clearly says.
“The court sentenced the defendants to suspended prison terms of four to six months and fined them about $1,770 each.”
Which is absolutely disgraceful for what they have put her through.
GreekEmpress says

11 were convicted. When do they go after the rest of them that threatened her?
gravenimage says
Agreed, GreekEmpress. Her lawyer says that Mila received *over 100,000* threatening messages. Even allowing for some that may be untracable and some coming from outside France, there still should be *far* more than the 13 cases here (two were not convicted).
Walter Sieruk says
About those awful terrible Muslim bullies with their vicious threatening harassment against this teenage girl.
This is a further example of how Islam has such a weak foundation and has such invalid augments to uphold it. With no rational and logic based reason based valid point to defend it by the propagandists for Islam This thus reveals that the only “defends” Muslims have to silence Islam’s critics are threats of violence.
Politicallyincorrectistruth says

Exactly the same for all religions and cults. Take the bible for instance…it doesn’t stand up to even modest questioning or analysis, and gets far too much respect.

Eleven defendants have been given suspended sentences of four or six months imprisonment, and as far as I know not all are Muslim. Inquiries are continuing. https://www.lci.fr/societe/proces-mila-le-cyberharcelement-n-est-pas-acceptable-selon-jean-michel-blanquer-2190931.htm.

Lavéritétriomphera, this leads to an unavailable page–for me, at least.
I think I found it here–and ran it through Google translate into English:

If they did find a couple of non-Muslims, they probably had to look pretty hard. That would not surprise me. There was no mention of whether the perps were Muslim or not in this article.
But it did sadly say that alll the sentences had been suspended. Just appalling.
Lavéritétriomphera says
Bonjour gravenimage,
I think it’s important to say that not all the defendants are Muslim or of Islamic culture. It seems that some of them have become aware of the seriousness of the facts. The inquiries are continuing.

Muslims threaten a teenage girl with rape and death.
If this doesn’t, what will wake up people in the West to the existential danger of Islam?

It damn well should.

‘When you pass someone in the street, you don’t insult them, threaten them, make fun of them,” the presiding judge, Michel Humbert, said. “What you don’t do in the street, don’t do on social media.”’
Are you talking about muslims or human beings, Judge? There is a difference, you know.
gravenimage says
True, Giacomo. Muslims do this to victims on the street, too–often followed by assaults.
Rarely says
It’s not “respect” that is being sought. “respect” is something that is earned. What has islam done to “earn” respect? Simply scaring people into not showing disrespect.
What they are calling “respect” is really just a form of subjugation. Just below the surface exists a complete lack of respect. They are merely trying to silence critics — and it’s working.
gravenimage says
Good point, Rarely.
OLD GUY says
Seems like Islam’s answer for everything is murder and violence. So much for love thy neighbor.
gravenimage says
Here are Muslims trying to pretend that Islam contains “love thy neighbor”–but this given the examples they offer is clearly not the case:
http://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/globalministries/legacy_url/11840/A-Common-Word-of-scripture-_2_.pdf?1419974601#:~:text=You%20shall%20love%20the%20Lord,love%20your%20neighbor%20as%20yourself.%E2%80%9D
In fact, the reference to not associating a “partner” with Allah is a condemnation of Judaism and Christianity, and a clear example that Muslims do not consider these people to be their neighbors.
