This recalls the famous hadith about how women who pass in front of men while they’re praying invalidate the prayer:
Narrated `Aisha: The things which annul the prayers were mentioned before me. They said, “Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman (if they pass in front of the praying people).” I said, “You have made us (i.e. women) dogs. I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) praying while I used to lie in my bed between him and the Qibla. Whenever I was in need of something, I would slip away. for I disliked to face him.” (Bukhari 1.8.511)
“Roubaix: because of the restrictions linked to the Covid, the mosque closes its doors to women,” translated from “Roubaix : à cause des jauges liées au Covid, la mosquée ferme ses portes aux femmes,” Valeurs Actuelles, July 22, 2021:
For months, Muslim women have not been able to go to pray at the Sunna mosque in Roubaix. As La Voix du Nord reported on Wednesday, July 21, the place of worship is only open to men due to Covid-19, which restricts the number of worshipers who can meet. Rather than comply with the order of arrival, mosque officials decided to refer to the texts of the Koran, which would prioritize access for men. “It’s a shame that in the 21st century there are still these kinds of mentalities. What image do we give of our religion?” said a practitioner who was refused entry to the place of worship. As the symbolic day of Eid El-Kebir took place on Tuesday, July 20, some women called out to voice their sense of injustice.
“It is better that they pray at home”
To defend this decision, Kamel Amrane, the vice-president of Sunna, assured that it was not a question of “exclusion” but of a “problem of space,” while adding that it was “preferable (that women) pray at home” and that prayer was optional for women, unlike men for whom it was obligatory, especially on this feast day. A false excuse for one of the Muslim women, who countered: “On the day of Eid is an exception, the Prophet ordered people to come to the mosque.” According to the local daily, Kamel Amrane explained that the fairer sex could certainly come back to pray among the usual 2,500 faithful in September. “The regulars who come to us know it. As for the others, if it bothers them, they can go elsewhere!” added Mohamed Miloudi, the association’s treasurer.

France: Two imams suspended at the request of the Minister of the Interior, a third one targeted
After being informed of sermons undermining “gender equality” at the Ennour Mosque in Gennevilliers and the Attakwa Mosque in Saint-Chamond, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin took action. As Le Figaro revealed on July 23, the imam of the second house of worship on the Loire was suspended from his post by the Minister of the Interior because of his “simply unacceptable” statements. His residence permit may also not be renewed. On July 20, “the imam explicitly ordered Muslim women to strictly submit to their husbands and told them to obey the commandment of Allah and that of their husbands”, Gérald Darmanin reported after RN councillor Isabelle Surply published a video in which the cleric can be heard telling the women present: “Stay in your houses and do not show off”.
In Hauts-de-Seine, the remarks of the imam of the Gennevilliers mosque, who declared that “women (were) lacking in modesty”, can also be heard in Place Beauvau. The cleric was summoned to the prefecture to explain himself and was then dismissed. Finally, Le Figaro adds that the Roubaix mosque leadership should also be questioned by the Minister of the Interior. The practice of excluding women from prayers since the beginning of the pandemic, “because of space problems”, according to association officials, could be a valid reason for Gérald Darmanin to make another clear decision in the coming days or weeks.

While it’s not very “progressive” I would actually advise against the government deciding mosque, church or temple policies. It’s not up to government stooges to decide who can come to a mosque imho.
I guess France can do whatever they want, but here in America I support freedom of religion.
libertyORdeath says
Sorry, left some out.
It shouldn’t be up to the govt. what the preacher, imam, or rabbi preaches from the pulpit either. As long as it’s legal (as in not incitement or blatant sedition) I say it’s an issue for the muslim community.

L.O.D. in most societies and places, conspiring to commit war, to conquer, enslave, murder and loot is against the law. Some places actually group those actions as “crimes against humanity”. Others consider 1) an agreement 2) of 2 or more persons, 3) to act illegally or to use illegal means for an otherwise legal purpose,4) and any overt act by any participant in furtherance of the goal, to be a criminal conspiracy. How is it that islam avoids this law? Depending on who is counting and where they look, between 250 and 1000 million people have been murdered by this conspiracy over 1400 years and rising daily. Is this something you find acceptable?

@libertyORdeath, you say:
//I guess France can do whatever they want, but here in America I support freedom of religion.//
So you believe that Islam should be granted the same protection and encouragement that most secular democracies provide in the following of one’s religion.
Keep in mind that freedom of religion means giving Muslims the space and respect to practice Islam in the manner Allah revealed & Muhammad practiced, namely:
▪ hate speech on kuffar (Q9:79; Q5:41, Q5:60, Q7:176, Q7:166),
▪ killing kuffar because they do not accept Islam (Q9:73, Q8:39, Q9:5, Q47:4, Q9:29),
▪ religious based apartheid based on Islam (Q60:1, Q4:139, Q32:18, Q5:51),
▪ allow multiple wives AND sex with women slaves (Q4:3, Q4:24, Q70:29-31),
▪ beating wives for mere “fear disloyalty/ arrogance” (Q4:34),
▪ kill homosexuals (Sunan Ibn Majah: Book 20, Hadith 2659),
▪ sex with little girls (Q65:4, Sahih Bukhari 5134)
▪ treat two women as equal to one man (Q4:11, Q2:282)
▪ force women to cover themselves (Q24:31, Q33:59)
▪ allow slavery (Q16:71, Q33:26, Sahih Bukhari 2415)
… among other things
Is that what you really and truly want in secular society?

Freedom of religion is fine–until it breaks the law. Then, not so much.
libertyORdeath says
I hold the same view as gravenimage, and the same as I stated in my post – I support freedom of religion up to the point of breaking the law. All of the examples you mentioned could be considered illegal if used to call for violence or sedition. Not allowing women to attend a mosque is not illegal.

Frank,
Bonsoir,
I corresponded with a Muslim and he couldn’t understand why the West condemns enslavement since this practice is consistent with the « Law of the Islamic God ». He thought it was also the same with Christianity.
The Islamic leaders keep the Muslims from thinking of themselves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qkly4G0Ay0U.
Bien à toi

Friend Kevin, the whole concept of liberty is absent from islam. Expecting any devout muslim to even consider slavery as evil cannot happen. Muslims are supposed to be the masters with no respect or regard for slaves. Everyone who is not one of “theirs” is good only for slavery or death. Why waste time imagining that 1400 years of “final, perfect, complete, unchangeable” teaching and practice will change?
The most painful book I ever read is MD Wafa Sultan’s A God Who Hates. When muslim men treat their wives and children as many do, what limitation exists in their treatment or regard for others lower on the scale?
I always wish you well,. Frank

Great video. But yes–thinking for oneself and any kind of questioning is completely un-Islamic.
Lavéritétriomphera says
Salut Frank et gravenimage,
Thinking for oneself is the absolute key to freedom and we can easily understand why the members of fascist movements keep their « prisoners » in ignorance. The opportunistic leaders of these totalitarian regimes, don’t want to see the forthcoming breakdown of their « empire ».
In my view, the Islamic system is not the only one concerned https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F5HkVDt5iY.

France is unusual in that there are plenty of Leftists who have not betrayed their unversalist principles and oppose “Islamo -gauchisme.” Here in the UK they exist but don’t have much of a voice. One of the best critiques of multiculturalism, islamophobia & the Left’s surrender is Rumy Hasan’s ‘Multiculturalism: Some inconvenient truths.’ He is a secular Leftist (so conservatives won’t like his opposition to faith schools) but his arguments are very strong-esp re women’s rights & the dangers of communalism. The paperback 2nd hand is hideously expensive but it’s affordable on KIndle.
Frank Anderson says
Pleasant thought-Halfway there to closing it down completely! Do non-muslims really want anyone to attend those prayers-for conquest, murder, slavery, looting. . . .? If every there were a time for “less is better” this could be one of them.
gravenimage says
Frank, women as a group are actually statistically less likely to commit Jihad terror than are male Muslims. So I’m not sure that Muslims closing the doors of Mosques to women–as their creed tells them to–actually makes us safer.
Infidel says
Well, I guess that is one way of achieving 50% capacity ?

Seems in Islam women are only a necessary human subspecies.

France: Mosque complies with covid restrictions by closing doors to women
…………….
Because only women spread Covid?
Really, just another excuse for Muslims to do what they want in the first place.
Here’s a grimly hilarious story about how Muslims in Roubaix are fully integrated:
A small city in north France is setting an example on how Muslims and non-Muslims can live side by side in harmony, setting an exception in a country in which the Muslim population finds itself at the center of a debate over racism, religious tolerance and national identity.
“Roubaix is a cradle, a symbol of immigration,” Muhammed Henniche, secretary general of the Union of Muslim Associations of Seine-Saint-Denis, a Paris suburb, told New York Times on Tuesday, August 6.
“Roubaix is representative of living in harmony in terms of immigration,” he said…
https://islamstory.com/en/artical/13998/roubaix-integrates-muslims
Of course, the main supposed sign of “integration” is that Roubaix has not tried to enforce the ban on headscarves, and has set up prayer rooms for Muslims in City Hall and has heped set up six Mosques in town.
In other words, French Infidels are “integrating” with their demanding Muslim population–*not* the other way around.

It won’t matter if the women can’t go to the prayers as they are better off in the kitchen and also they are only worth half of a man as Quran 4:11 explains. Also see Qur’an 2:282,

“It’s a shame that in the 21st century there are still these kinds of mentalities. What image do we give of our religion?”
This muslima is obviously very ignorant of her own religion. Due to imams on Friday saying to them at sermon time, ”don’t worry your pretty little deficient heads, ladies, just get the coffee and fig tarts ready” or choosing to be deliberately ignorant of the contents of the koran, I’m not sure.

G.L., I with great respect question whether women are ignorant of the teachings of islam, They, of all people live all their lives under its oppression. I ask you, please, read M. D. Wafa Sultan’s book A God Who Hates, to get what I suggest is a better and more complete impression of the daily life of women and children under islam.
A personal note: My birth mother lived under misery and oppression as a Lutheran because of their community demands that she submit to an alcoholic husband. When I found her, 39 years after my birth and adoption, she gained the strength, courage and self-respect she needed to escape. I consider that 1 telephone call which triggered her liberty the best day’s work of my life.
