This is extraordinary, and takes immense courage. Will the Iranian people prevail? Or will Biden’s handlers prop up the mullahs and their bloody regime, as Obama did?

Like I mentioned yesterday, I’ll believe it after the numbers have grown large enough to actually overthrow the regime. Until then, good luck!
Fitna says
What they need is organization and weapons. The US could’ve helped the people to overthrow their evil regime, but now we have morons in power who always side with dictators, tyrants and fascists.
The Mullahs have 100,000 men in the IRGC to safeguard their power. So unless the people are organized and can take them down in a coordinated fashion, they will lose as they have before…because the state has all the weapons and trained forces on their side.
If only the West intervened like they did in the old days, the Mullahs could’ve been easily taken down.
Infidel says
That would have been foolhardy. There’s no way of saying whether the Iranians would have reacted the way you describe, or whether they would have seen it as another foreign invasion and united behind the regime. Remember how united Iran was during the 8 year Iran-Iraq war?
No, let them sort it out. Yeah, the Iranian people are brave, but so far, those brave ones haven’t yet attained the critical mass needed to overthrow the regime
Walter Sieruk says
The terribly oppress Iranian people need to read ,understand and know the wisdom of the philosopher ,John Locke. For he with reason and logic made it known about the importance of basic human rights and if a tyrannical government abuses and even denies human rights ,the people existing under that tyranny have every ,just, right to overthrow that dictatorship.
Of course those in power in that brutal and cruel “mullah regime” of Iran will strive to keep the people ignorant about the wisdom of Locke and of other intelligent writers from the age of the enlightenment.
This is because those now in control of Iran want to stay in their tyrannical power

Reason and logic are un-Islamic.
Walter Sieruk says
Khamenei brutally and cruelly oppresses the Iranian people and denies them the basic human rights that they should have .
That dictator, Khamenei , along with other of terrible in that “mullah tyranny” of Iran viciously oppress and terrorize the people who are trapped and forced to exist in that Islamic tyrannical regime by it’s Islamic state police who are called the “Islamic Revolutionary Guards.” Who are in reality, bands of government thugs and tools of that hideous regime.
Therefore, the Iranian people live awful fear of those controlling Muslim tyrants of Iran.
Related to this subject is the wisdom printed by Benjamin Franklin in his periodical POOR RICHARD”S ALMANAC which reads “Those who are feared are also hated.”

……………..
We’ll see if this really constitutes a rejection of Islam.

True, John.

Dangerous words spoken by a desperate people.
Biden probably has the jet full of cash on the tarmac as we read this. No sarc intended.
Giacomo Latta says
If Khamenei senses that the popular uprising has spread to the IRGC then he met feel inclined to go on a quick vacation à la Ceausescu with the same result.
Kepha says
The most impressive thing ever one by Iranian protesters was when students quietly walked around the US and Israeli flags painted on the ground.
All the best to those protesting the mullah-ocracy, the Cuban dictatorship, and the next wave of Chinese dissidence. However, if the US intervenes, you can bet they’ll cry “imperialist!” All the way from Albania to Zimbabwe. We should’ve taken note when it became clear that EUropean intellectuals would never forgive us for having made it impossible for them to live under their idol Stalin.
When the dissidence reaches critical mass and these last, best hopes for Islamicism and 20th century totalitarianism crumble, that will be enough.

Rueben Singh says
I used to work with a former Iranian Army officer.
He told me that the IRGC is the political/religious muscle and that the actual army is made up of ordinary Iranian conscripts. The IRGC is basically the mullahs protection against the army, about 190-200,000 strong.
The army is about 3-400,000. It’s not difficult for ordinary ranks to kill their officers and senior NCO’s.
If the army turns on the IRGC then they have a chance.
Kepha says
This is a reminder that all Islamic states have sources of internal instability, just as is the case with any other states. Nor can we discount how loyalty to one’s religion may not always translate into unquestioning loyalty to its highest clergy.

Yes–we should not assume that this consitutes a reject of Islam and its hideous values.
