My latest in PJ Media:
Pope Francis has a terrific idea for how to bring peace to Afghanistan, and it’s basically the same solution he offers for every problem under the sun: dialogue. Yes, of course. The Taliban are killing and mutilating women and hunting down Christians because no one has bothered to sit down and talk with the poor dears. Never mind that American representatives were in discussions with the Taliban for over a year in Doha long before the Afghanistan debacle. Apparently that wasn’t the right kind of dialogue, which, if we have now, will fix everything. The pope said so.
“I join in the unanimous concern for the situation in Afghanistan,” the pontiff told the world on Monday. “I ask all of you to pray with me to the God of peace, so that the clamor of weapons might cease and solutions can be found at the table of dialogue.” Francis explained that it was only as a result of dialogue that “the battered population of that country — men, women, elderly and children” could “return to their own homes, and live in peace and security, in total mutual respect.”
All we have to do is talk it over! Why didn’t anyone think of that before?
Back in the real world, the pope’s words are self-refuting. His own “dialogue” with Muslim leaders hasn’t prevented a single Christian from being persecuted or a single church from being destroyed. His “Human Fraternity” document that he signed along with the Grand Sheikh of al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb, hasn’t led the Taliban or any other Islamic group to lay down their arms and end their jihad. Dialogue has never worked. Why does he think it will work in Afghanistan?
“A Document On Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” was published in in 2019, and has become the basis for the Catholic Church’s relations with Islamic groups and Islam in general. It is as filled with falsehoods and wishful thinking as one would expect coming from a practiced deceiver such as el-Tayeb and someone so eager to be deceived as Pope Francis. Among its many false statements is the claim that terrorism is due to “an accumulation of incorrect interpretations of religious texts and to policies linked to hunger, poverty, injustice, oppression and pride.”
The idea that poverty causes terrorism is at heart just a call for Western nations to write more checks to governments of Muslim countries. It’s also demonstrably false. The New York Times reported that “not long after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001…Alan B. Krueger, the Princeton economist, tested the widespread assumption that poverty was a key factor in the making of a terrorist. Mr. Krueger’s analysis of economic figures, polls, and data on suicide bombers and hate groups found no link between economic distress and terrorism.”
There is more. Read the rest here.

Is the Pope not aware that the Taliban wouldn’t hesitate to kill Christians?

Gravenimage,
Non Muslims lives don’t matter to this man, what matters is globalization, “one” govt, political correctness, multi-culture, BLM, CRT and so on.
He not only has no morals or empathy, lacks common sense not commonly found.
As a so called guide to a wonky doctrines he has, he is completely oblivious of Christ, the founder of Christianity, who never made peace with the religious groups of his time, on the contrary he condemned them. Whither Christianity?
Ref:
Matthew 12
34 You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.
Matthew 3
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Matthew 23
33 You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?
Luke 3
7 So he began saying to the crowds who were going out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Yes–Francis seems to have little empathy for the victims of Jihad terror, including Christians.

Richard is correct. The Taliban is hunting and killing converts to Christianity in Afghastlistan. Is he that ill-informed? Pope Francis is a Pollyanna living in a unicorn-filled Neverland. Facts cannot penetrate is impermeable, rose-coloured fantasy life.
The Taliban is CORRECT ISLAM, 100% ISLAM, AUTHENTIC, CANONICAL ISLAM. The pope doesn’t know that.
TruthWFree says
Such ignorance, if it is ignorance, means he has no business being Pope. I’m coming to believe he is diabolical.

Here is an example of dialogue:
Pontius Pilate: What is the truth?
Jesus: (silence)
The Pope thinks Jesus should have just talked more …. except if He had been charged with molesting a child.
Wellington says
To be found, CES, that quote by Pontius Pilate, only in the Gospel of John (we know so little about Pilate that we don’t even know his first name, his praenomen, though he definitely served as the fifth Prefect of Judea and Samaria {26-36 AD} after said regions were taken away from the incompetent Archelaus in 6 AD).
In any case, the Gospel of John is, by far, the most interesting, challenging and fascinating Gospel of all four, though all four Gospels represent just about the most complex religious literature in all of man’s history, regardless of whether one is a Christian.
Just sayin’. Nothing more. Hope you and yours are well.

I’m doing okay. Just sitting here on a Sunday evening brooding about Afghanistan. I wish you more pleasant thoughts than I am having right now. It will pass … as all things do.

The pope is closed-minded and simplistic. He filters out facts that do not fit his preconceived, Pollyannish narrative.
The Golden Rule is opposed by Islamic clerics as ‘nonsense’. The pope doesn’t know that.
Del says
He is just as disconnected from reality as trudeau. They both live in their own little minds.
Wellington says
Well, putting aside that the present pontifex maximus is a complete fool, dialogue with Muslims to an uninformed Christian, who doesn’t really understand Islam, is standing up at an interfaith meeting between Christians and Muslims and extolling Islam, thereafter followed by Muslims standing up at such a meeting and———–extolling Islam.
This in itself is troubling and indicative of morally relativistic reasoning at its best (worst?), but one should expect many fools who are Christian engaging in this interfaith nonsense since so many Christians don’t know, or willfully refuse to know, what Islam really has to say about Christianity. But when the current head of the Roman Catholic Church, that monumental monstrosity, Pope Francis I, goes on and on about dialogue with the Islamic world and the whole nine yards respecting co-habiting with one another, well, this is, excuse the old line, a completely different “ball of wax.”
If the Pope is a fool this is ominous for Western Civilization at large, no matter if you are a Catholic, a Protestant, an Orthodox believer, or even a skeptic via agnosticism or outright atheism. The present Pope is a fool. Horribly so. Conclude accordingly.
CogitoErgoSum says
In the Pope’s world Jesus should have told Pilate that Yahweh and Jupiter were simply the same god but with different names and that Jesus was only trying to get everybody to talk about it. He didn’t mean to cause any problems for anybody. Then he should have apologized profusely and several times on His knees if necessary to be let go – anything to avoid any bloodshed.
Wellington says
“bout right,” CES.
Ah, Francis is a disaster to the West, as Obama was, Biden currently is—Macron, Trudeau, Johnson, Merkel, Ardern, et al. also still currently are.
Presently the West is being betrayed by its current leadership, which is to say virtually no leadership at all. One can dispute the motive, but only a fool or worse would dispute the ever growing horrible result.
mortimer says
Muslims don’t do dialogue. They do dawaganda monologue disguised with liberal lashings of taqiyya. Jews or Christians going to such ‘dialogues’ can be assured that they will hear a lot of flannel from the Muslims.
The pope doesn’t know that ‘dialogue’ with the Taliban has been unsuccessfully tried for 20 years. He doesn’t know about taqqiya or the ‘temporary truce’ doctrines of Islam. He is uninformed and closed to further enlightenment. Truly, a ‘blind guide’ if there ever was one.
gravenimage says
Pope Francis: ‘Dialogue’ Is the Only Path to ‘Peace and Security’ in Afghanistan
…………
The Taliban just set a woman on fire for “bad cooking”. How does this pope think that they are rational actors to “dialog” with?
Wellington says
He will, gravenimage, pursue the absurd path of assuming the Taliban are not correctly enforcing the noble religion which is Islam. And even assuming Francis is correct about Islam (though he clearly is not), how do you ever “dialogue” with barbarians?
Francis is not only a fool, he is a highly destructive and influential fool. But you already know this. Alas, still so many do not.
gravenimage says
All true, Wellington. Even those in denial about the true nature of Islam should realize that the bloody *Taliban* is not OK. But too many–and many in high places–fail to even grasp this.
GreekEmpress says
Wellington and graven image:
You are right on all counts.
It saddens me as a Catholic.

I feel bad for all sane Catholics, GreekEmpress. And the Pontiff is very influential as a world leader, so Francis’ harm reaches beyond the Catholic Church as well.

Pope Francis does not know the enemy and is setting up Christians to be defeated EVERY TIME.
NECESSITY OF KNOWING THE ENEMY AND ONE’S OWN FORCES
-“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” – SUN TZU
mortimer says
Biden did not know the Taliban forces nor the Afghan forces. He underestimated the former and overestimated the latter.
This is the GROSSEST INCOMPETENCE in US history in any president.

The Taliban ‘lions’ will eat the ‘lambs’ now.
Walter Sieruk says
Pope Francis came out with the very stupid and totally unbiblical idea that there should be “dialogue” with the Taliban in the hope, , an empty, for hope the establishment “peace and security ” in Afghanistan.
At best any “talks” with the Taliban would only result in “spinning our wheels” in a complete waste of time, energy, effort and words.
At worst, having dialogue with the Taliban would only have outcome of disaster because the Taliban be engaging in Islamic deception of non-Muslims. Which is the Islamic doctrine of Taqyyia which is the Muslim belief that “Lying and deception are good things to do as long as the lied and deception are done for the good and advancement of Islam.. The horrible fruits of that would be a claimity.
History shows that having dialogue with tyrants never has good or worthwhile outcomes of any value but only catastrophe , as diplomatic talks with Hitler appeared productive at first ,by giving the illusion of “peace in our time” but the harsh reality was that in ended in World War II.
Pope Francis doesn’t seem to care that the Bible reveals that have talks with evil only results of greater evil disasters. As the Bible message of “No dialogue with the Devil” is clearly seen in the Old Testament book of Genesis where in a beautiful garden Eastward of place called “Eden” Adam’s wife ,Eve was talking with Satan through a serpent and the results of those talks was nothing but total disaster ,not only for her and Adam but for all humankind. This tragic even is recorded in Genesis chapter 3.
Likewise having “dialogue” with the Taliban would only have an outcome of evil.

That lamb on the pope’s shoulder would be horribly slaughtered if it fell into the hands of any mohammedan
somehistory says
He could leave the lamb at home, if it is still living, and take the next flight over to kabul and have a sit-down with the leaders of the terrorists. Perhaps a cup of peppermint tea and some little cakes while they have a friendly dialogue.
There are planes going in…biden has ordered the use of commercial airlines to bring people out, so the pope could hop on a flight as it goes in. Might even get a free ride.
somehistory says
Words can injure and lead to killing….and this guy is always spouting off about how mozlums want peace and security just as much as the next guy and a little understanding will make everything hunky dory. The Christians in afghanistan, fleeing to the mountains to escape horrible death would disagree.
Trying to talk a psychopath out of his intent to murder is much akin to talking to a rattlesnake or king cobra intent on biting the hand, foot, leg, body or face of one who ventures too close.
Simple disagreements, or even serious ones, may be overcome by two reasonable people sitting down to talk it over. mozlums don’t use reason and the “disagreements” are not
“simple.”
These talibon mozlums want to maim, enslave, torture, rape and murder others. They enjoy it, and as the psychopaths they are, they are not going to sit down and talk it over with anyone. Not even this idiot, lying pope with his longwinded errors in pronouncements could make any difference in what these sons of demons do.
A person with no tongue could get just as far having dialogue with a snake.
Check Burry says

As long as I can remember, Communists and their allies love to talk: “What is mine is mine; what is yours is negotiable”. There is nothing to negotiate between life and death, freedom and slavery. There are too many gutless collaborators making too much money negotiating our way into graves and camps. We have Robert Spencer’s quote about the blind man to remember. Only these people are not blind. They are evil traitors to our freedom and future. It is long past time to deal with them as they should be dealt. Find other leaders, if leaders are necessary.

The pope doesn’t know the primary, Islamic source texts. ‘Turhibunna’ (terrorize them) – Koran 8.60
Quote: “Among (the pope’s) many false statements is the claim that terrorism is due to “an accumulation of incorrect interpretations of religious texts.”
Terrorism is canonically Islamic.
Frank Anderson says
mortimer, we may disagree, and I certainly respect your right: Nobody in his position can be as clueless as is necessary to do what he is doing. This is not done from ignorance, either of the texts or of 1400 years of Christian and other non-muslim slaughter. He knows, and cares nothing about the truth as he does his best to sell Christians into conversion or slaughter. “Deliberate ignorance constitutes knowledge of the truth.”
