This kind of ignorant moral equivalence is increasingly common in the American public discourse, and has the effect of lulling Americans into complacency regarding the actual jihad threat. Well, see, they’re just like those irritating pro-lifers.
“SHAME: Vile Sharpton Show Lets Guest Compare Pro-Lifers to ‘Suicide Bombers,'” by Brad Wilmouth, NewsBusters, August 29, 2021:
On Saturday’s PoliticsNation show, MSNBC again showed its hostility to pro-lifers when host Al Sharpton allowed a guest to ridiculously liken opponents of abortion to “suicide bombers.” Here’s the full quote: ” What it reminds me of quite honestly is a suicide bomber, someone who feels like they have the right and the moral duty to mess up somebody else’s life for the greater good.”…
[Civil rights attorney Jill Collen] Jefferson began her response: “Yes, this is a matter of civil rights. Having the right to an abortion is a constitutional right. It’s grounded in the right to privacy that is within the Constitution. And I find it really interesting that part of this argument is an argument about, you know, ‘the right to an abortion is not explicitly listed in the Constitution.'”
She then not only claimed that there is no “right to bear arms” in the Constitution even though the Second Amendment uses those exacts words, but she also smeared pro-lifers as being like murderers:
But you know what? Neither is the right to bear arms. That — the way that we interpret that law is the interpretation of a constitutional provision, the Second Amendment. In this, we’re interpreting — we are interpreting another constitutional provision, yet we’re not applying that same logic to the situation. What it reminds me of quite honestly is a suicide bomber, someone who feels like they have the right and the moral duty to mess up somebody else’s life for the greater good….

Jill Colleen Jefferson makes up her own ‘facts’ to suit her whims. She is living in her castle in Spain. Apparently, recently-graduated lawyers no longer think they need well-researched facts to defend an argument. They just invent whatever they need, and then use slanderous libel to dismiss the opponent without a fair assessment of opposing arguments.
I have experienced such subjective steamrollers from young neo-Marxists. Their main tactic is to prevent any dissent from being aired.

No doubt in the near future the CDC will declare pregnancy a communicable disease just as it has guns. There must be some kind of shot we can give people to keep them safe … but I think the only way to keep people from dying is to keep them from being born in the first place. The problem will then eventually solve itself. I’m sure Al Sharpton wishes his mother would have shown as much consideration for him.

+1 That argument seems lost on the anti-life community. I remember when I was on the debating team in my junior year of high school the one question that we and others would ask the opposing team was if they were glad that their mother did not abort them. It seems that the courts are giving credence to the heartbeat rule.
The other fact that I find disgusting is that these fools believe a mass murderer should not be executed most appalling. I have stated many times that it should be considered by the abortionists as retroactive abortion.

Ray,
I feel compelled to relate a very disturbing story:
I once had a conversation with a Navy corpsman riding back from a training course. Just her and I were in the car, so I had to be careful in my conversation.
She was a rising star in the Navy, very fit and attractive, and had just been accepted into nursing training.
I told her “great”, and asked her what her future plans were in nursing.
She stated that she wanted to become a nurse practitioner. Again, I said “great”.
She then stated that she wanted to provide abortions in states that allowed nurse practitioners to perform this procedure. I said nothing.
She specifically asked me what I thought. I told her that, since she had asked, that I felt that it should be limited to cases that involve rape, incest, or the life of the mother – and within the first trimester if at all possible.
She disagreed. She stated that her own mother tried to self abort her, obviously unsuccessfully.
I asked her if she were glad that her mother was unsuccessful in her attempt .
She surprisingly stated that she was not. She felt that her mother had the unrestricted right to abort her.

James, You had more patience than I would have had. I probably would have been reprimanded under an Article 13 for what I would have told her for I would have been a bit older and more opinionated.

I can’t understand the connection that Sharpton and the guest seem to find between jihad murdering suicide bombers and pro-lifers, who might upset a few people by demonstrating or whatever. I suppose that some programs love to have guests who they know they can wheel out and who will make outrageous and controversial statements. To me, this statement makes about as much sense as if I went on some show, and, as a shit stirrer and trying to be controversial, I said that I thought that the Taliban are the greatest pacifists in the world. The parallel made between pro-lifers and suicide bombers reminds me of the saying about keeping your mouth shut and then people will only suspect you of being dumb, rather then opening youth mouth and proving how moronically dumb you are. Sharpton’s show is definitely something I’d avoid like the plague. In Australia, where I live, this shit is the type of thing the taxpayer funded ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) would show. Utter bullshit. Seriously, some of these leftist morons do have very scrambled brains. They have shit for brains.
gravenimage says
Of course this makes no objective sense. But these fools–and most who watch MSNBC–are not long on objective reasoning. I guess we should be glad they aren’t lauding suicide bombings…
tim gallagher says
Well that’s what I thought, gravenimage. i can’t see any connection between the two things being compared. Some of the crap that people get up and say in public staggers me with the rank stupidity they display. I would think that they would be able to see how unbelievably dumb such statements make them seem. I imagine this program doesn’t have a big audience, though I’m probably wrong. I suppose that there is a pretty big audience of left wing fools who eat up rubbish like this. I mostly hear about the outrageous, woke garbage that turns up on our left wing media here in Australia because the commentators on Sky News will mention them, because I won’t waste a second of my time on the left wing media. Life is too short to watch or listen to their crap and it annoys me too much..
tim gallagher says
gravenimage, i did write a reply but it seems to have been rejected. I have no idea why. I was certainly struck by the idiocy of this idea that pro-lifers and suicide bombers are somehow similar. To my mind, it is embarrassingly stupid. Some people, such as these people on this program, need to keep their mouths shut and their utter foolishness and lack of basic logic and rationality will not be so apparent.
tim gallagher says
Oh, there it is. I wasn’t sure what had happened to that reply to gravenimage.

MSNBC guest likens pro-lifers to suicide bombers
…………………..
Just appalling. Whatever one’s views on abortion, the idea that peaceful pro-lifers are the same as mass murderers is simply grotesque.
John Lloyd Scharf says
Unborn children have been declared not to be persons with a right to due process by the Supreme Court, just like Dred Scott was in 1854. Slaves do not have a right to due process, to life, to a vote, or to guns. As long as anyone is in slavery, we all are. You can have no privileges or immunities in a democracy.

No legal system that I am aware of, including decent legal systems like English Common Law, Roman Law and Judaic Law, have ever accorded full personhood or citizenship to a fetus and yet if someone kills a pregnant woman they will be charged with two murders. For hundreds, if not thousands, of years various legal systems have functioned in a murky legal area where the fetus is concerned.
Respecting this matter in America, I think the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 represents substandard legal reasoning (even some pro-choice law professors have stated this though they approve of the result). Abortion, or the lack thereof, should be a state by state matter as it was before Roe. I see no federal right to an abortion in the Constitution, but then I also see no federal right to gay marriage in the Constitution. All of which helps to prove that the Constitution means whatever the Supreme Court says it means—and this has an ominous element about it.

While she has a right to her opinion it’s not one that is worth national media coverage. But then it was on Al Sharpton’s show.
The left media would go absolutely nuts if she had said pro-lifers saving black babies likens them to suicide bombers, and that is what she actually is saying.
I wonder what BLM thinks about black babies being killed and thrown in the trash? You would think they would stand with those trying to stop these killings of children.

My youngest daughter listened as I read about the Court in its decision in the case of Texas’ new ban on the murder of babies after 6 weeks and the claims by the clinic that brought the case, something about “women’s health”…and my daughter said,
(not an exact quote) “if killing a baby was a Constitutional “right,” it wouldn’t have taken that long to get it “legal.”
Constitution from the 1700’s….”legal” baby killing …late 1900’s as baby killing took place through the years…back rooms, dirty hands, money under the table…
This stupid and evil remark by this fool, to a fool, is just meant to inflame the minds of those who know how really evil baby killing is and are strong enough to take a bold stand against it. She is not a true “lawyer.” Any lawyer/attorney worth the cost of the degree and passing the bar, would not make such an ignorant remark about the “right to bear arms.” Furthermore, any human worth the cost to the parents of raising, clothing, feeding, educating, etc. would not be comparing those who try to protect the lives of the tiny unborn children with the horrors of suicide bombers. The Document does not give any “rights” to people that God does not, and He commands against murder…even of the unborn.
Those who work to save the lives of the unborn, are really doing a huge favor to the mothers who are trying to murder their babies; many woman die, many are made unable to have children after, and many, many deeply regret the decision later.
This idiot woman has brain disease…and so does sharpton…a liar and crook. They should travel on over to the stan (land) and see what they can do to change the lives of the taliban. al queda, isis….al would be perfect as an envoy for the “al” queda. The “attorney” can maybe help the taliban enforce the lawlessness they refer to as “law.” She might know more about that than she does U.S. Laws and the “rights” given to everyone….”life” being foremost…by our Creator.
