He was brought to the UK by the RAF “while loyal translators who had served the British Army were left behind.” Great vetting, fellows! Probably British officials were more concerned with making sure he wasn’t a “right-wing” foe of jihad violence and Sharia oppression than they were with checking for ties to the Taliban.
“Armed police arrest married Afghan father, 33, in Manchester as a suspected Taliban terrorist after RAF rescued him from Kabul,” by David Williams, Sam Greenhill, Rebecca Camber and Mark Nicol, Daily Mail, September 10, 2021 (thanks to James):
An Afghan rescued from Kabul by the RAF has been arrested as a suspected Taliban terrorist in Manchester.
Armed police swooped on the 33-year-old with alleged jihadi links in a pre-dawn raid at his city centre quarantine hotel.
He had worked for Afghan special forces alongside British soldiers. When Kabul fell to the insurgents, he was airlifted out on an RAF mercy flight.
He was controversially given a seat while loyal translators who had served the British Army were left behind.
The man, whose identity is known to the Daily Mail, arrived in the UK on August 21 with his wife and children, and they were placed in the Park Inn hotel in Manchester for Covid quarantine because Afghanistan is a ‘red list’ country.
But shortly after 4am on August 31, anti-terror police burst into the room where the family was sleeping. He was arrested on suspicion of terrorism and is being held at top-security HMP Belmarsh in London….
There are claims the Afghan, an intelligence officer who served with an elite force working with British troops against the insurgents, had been accused of being a spy for the Taliban….

Why are these refugees bought to the west there are about 57 Moslem majority nations .Many are our so call “allies” are in that number in those 57 Moslem majority countries. The British caught one how many more out of the thousands entering our countries unvetted that are planning and carry out violent jihadist attacks in the near future? We embolden Jihadist with our cowardly withdrawal by our cowardly senile president vain confused his handlers are having more trouble keeping him on track , they are more worry about maga hat wearing ,pick up driving Americans who refuse to get vaxed then real terrorist who want to enslave us or kill us.

He will not be the only one.

Agree. There will be MANY other Afghan jihadists throughout Europe and the US, creating more jobs for undercover police to hunt them.
If most Muslims do not approve of jihadic terrorism, they will seldom do anything to turn in a fellow Muslim to the authorities even when he is clearly involved in preparing terrorism. Most will look the other way.

So true, Michael.

Wait a minute.
“He had worked for Afghan special forces alongside British soldiers. When Kabul fell to the insurgents, he was airlifted out on an RAF mercy flight” How is that different from a ‘loyal’ translator? Was he not fighting on our side? I do not understand why RS is so quick to jump on this man’s case.

This story above is from the Daily Mail–this is not Robert Spencer “jumping on this man’s case”, but a respected news source reporting it. And no–spying for the Taliban is *not* the same as being a loyal translator, if this proves to be the case.

Why not have a deal w/ the Taliban to exchange him for some of their real hostages?

We won’t be able to get rid of the bastard as it will be unfair to his wife and kids. He’s not ritush as he was not granted asylum so no legal aid just get him out

We’ve already been told that none of these migrants will be sent back to Afghanistan.
john smith says
I doubt very much he will be deported, as this will go against his humane rights. He will dispute the claim that he was a spy working for the taliban, instead he will state that he was working legitimately for the British, and if we deport him the taliban will kill him and his family. That will be his defence.
So our government will allow him to stay here. After all it’s better to put British families lives in danger, than his Afghan family, isn’t it.
Keith O says
He went to the once United Kingdom, so he can go back to his Taliban mates the same way.
Kick him and anyone else they find out the door at 20k feet,(parachutes optional) over the Ghan.

UK: Armed police arrest Afghan evacuee suspected of being a spy for the Taliban
…………….
Good to know that vetting has been so vigorous… sarc/off

Sorry Robert, but this is a shoddy piece of reporting on your part. No evidence is given as to what he has done. He is supposed to have been assisting the Afghan special forces alongside the UK force, “He had worked for Afghan special forces alongside British soldiers” No doubt that is why he and his family were taken up. We British are not stupid as Americans often think (including you Robert) So why the rush to judgement? What happened to innocent until PROVED guilty, or do we not do that anymore on Jihad Watch?
gravenimage says
If you find this story “shoddy” you need to take it up with the Daily Mail.
As for the idea that the British would not be so “stupid” as to suspect this Muslim of spying for the Taliban, this simply makes no sense. The Daily Mail is in fact a British, not American, newspaper. Moreover, it is the paper with the largest circulation in the UK. Then, it is British anti-teror police who arrested this suspected spy in the first place.
Are you saying that the British police are “stupid” for arresting a suspected Taliban spy?
And Robert Spencer is not prosecuting this suspected spy in a court of law–he is in fact not even being publically named, so the idea that refering to a newspaper article is somehow interferring with his right to a fair trial is completely mistaken.
Giacomo Latta says
I have no doubt that some devout Afghan muslims who were active as devout muslims must be according to the koran nevertheless felt a bit queasy about being in a country where the Taliban are in charge. If you don’t have friends in high places in that organization you have absolutely no guaranteed protection.
