Al-Tayeb said: “No one can deprive a woman of a single one of her rights, which were established by Islam, and which are found in a clear and concise sentence in the Qur’an: ‘Women are equal to men.'”
I’ve searched all over for this “clear and concise sentence,” and I do not find it. The Qur’an does say these things:
“O mankind, be mindful of your duty to your Lord who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from those two has propagated a multitude of men and women.” — Qur’an 4:1
“And whoever does good works, whether male or female, and is a believer, will enter paradise, and they will not be wronged even as much as the groove in a date-stone.” — Qur’an 4:124
“O mankind, indeed, we have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes so that you may know one another.” — Qur’an 49:13
But none of those passages say “Women are equal to men.” And there is plenty of Qur’anic testimony to the contrary. The Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34
Muhammad’s child bride, Aisha, says in a hadith that Muhammad “struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: ‘Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?’” — Sahih Muslim 2127
The Qur’an likens a woman to a field (tilth), to be used by a man as he wills: “Your women are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth as you will” — Qur’an 2:223
It declares that a woman’s testimony is worth half that of a man: “Get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as you choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her” — Qur’an 2:282
It allows men to marry up to four wives, and have sex with slave girls also: “If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if you fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly, then only one, or one that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice” — Qur’an 4:3
It rules that a son’s inheritance should be twice the size of that of a daughter: “Allah directs you as regards your children’s inheritance: to the male, a portion equal to that of two females” — Qur’an 4:11
It allows for marriage to pre-pubescent girls, stipulating that Islamic divorce procedures “shall apply to those who have not yet menstruated” — Qur’an 65:4
Islamic law stipulates that a man’s prayer is annulled if a dog or a woman passes in front of him as he is praying. “Narrated ‘Aisha: The things which annul the prayers were mentioned before me. They said, “Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman (if they pass in front of the praying people).” I said, ‘You have made us (i.e. women) dogs.’ I saw the Prophet praying while I used to lie in my bed between him and the Qibla. Whenever I was in need of something, I would slip away. for I disliked to face him.” — Sahih Bukhari 1.9.490
Another hadith depicts Muhammad saying that the majority of the inhabitants of hell are women:
“I looked into Paradise and I saw that the majority of its people were the poor. And I looked into Hell and I saw that the majority of its people are women.” — Sahih Bukhari 3241; Sahih Muslim 2737
When asked about this, he explained:
“I was shown Hell and I have never seen anything more terrifying than it. And I saw that the majority of its people are women.” They said, “Why, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Because of their ingratitude (kufr).” It was said, “Are they ungrateful to Allah?” He said, “They are ungrateful to their companions (husbands) and ungrateful for good treatment. If you are kind to one of them for a lifetime then she sees one (undesirable) thing in you, she will say, ‘I have never had anything good from you.’” — Sahih Bukhari 1052
And in another hadith:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out to the musalla (prayer place) on the day of Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Fitr. He passed by the women and said, ‘O women! Give charity, for I have seen that you form the majority of the people of Hell.’ They asked, ‘Why is that, O Messenger of Allah?’ He replied, ‘You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religious commitment than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.’ The women asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is deficient in our intelligence and religious commitment?’ He said, ‘Is not the testimony of two women equal to the testimony of one man?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Is it not true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her religious commitment.’” — Sahih Bukhari 304
Another statement attributed to Muhammad: “If a husband calls his wife to his bed [i.e. to have sexual relation] and she refuses and causes him to sleep in anger, the angels will curse her till morning.” — Sahih Bukhari 4.54.460
It’s the same thing with al-Tayeb’s other quotation from the Qur’an, “you have brothers and you are equal in humanity.” There can be a lot of slippage between translations, but I’m just not finding it. Meanwhile, the Qur’an calls Muslims “the best of people” (3:110) and non-Muslims “the most vile of created beings” (98:6).
Is al-Tayeb simply lying, and banking on his audience’s ignorance of the Qur’an? It’s hard to escape that impression.
“Grand Imam Al-Tayeb: ‘Fratelli tutti’ important for Muslims too,” by Andrea Tornielli, Vatican News, October 8, 2021:
“Each one of us has discovered a great spiritual and thoughtful attunement to the crises that afflict contemporary man…”. The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad Muhammad Al-Tayeb, during his days in Rome to participate at some important events alongside Pope Francis and other religious leaders, visited the studios of Vatican Radio – Vatican News and spoke about his relationship with Pope Francis, one year after the publication of the Encyclical Fratelli tutti….
Regarding the Encyclical Fratelli tutti published a year ago, Prof. Al-Tayeb noted that it “is definitely of huge importance, especially in this time, for both Muslims and non-Muslims.” He added that the encyclical fits into the framework of their meetings and is inspired by them, noting also that the Pope himself mentions this in the preface.
He said that “the encyclical goes in the same direction – that of dialogue and coexistence among men”- and is, in short, “an appeal to apply the moral principles of religions to create a true fraternity where there is no room for discrimination on the basis of differences of religion, confession, race, gender, or other forms of intolerance.”
Furthermore, “the encyclical is useful for Muslims and at the same time for others because it says that we are all brothers,” he said. More so, the Qur’an says to Muslims: “you have brothers and you are equal in humanity”. In this light, “We say that man is similar or equal to me and he is my brother in humanity. He can be a brother in religion, but he can also be for me, a brother in humanity.”
The role of religions in promoting peace
Speaking on the subject of the role of religions in promoting peace and fraternity, as well as combatting hatred and terrorism, the Grand imam explained that “to say that religions, as revealed by God the Most High, have been the cause of wars in history is inaccurate because what are known as conflicts fought in the name of religion, are in truth political conflicts that have stolen the name of religion by loading it with corrupt interpretations in order to achieve worldly conquests and interests, which have no connection, not even remotely, with true religion.“I must say that those who spread hatred among people today, and practice violence and bloodshed in the name of religion or God, are liars and traitors to the religions whose flags they raise, whatever these religions or doctrines or confessions in whose name they speak,” he insisted.
Protecting the dignity of women
Finally, responding to a question about the dignity of women and the concerning signs that indicate the resurgence of a fundamentalism that does not respect women, Al-Tayeb said that “what is stated by the Document on Human Fraternity is what is established by Islam regarding respect for women and full respect for their rights.”He went on to affirm that “no one can deprive a woman of a single one of her rights, which were established by Islam, and which are found in a clear and concise sentence in the Qur’an: ‘Women are equal to men’ … “In the face of this truth”, he continued, “no Muslim who is faithful to his creed can take away from women the rights guaranteed by Islam.”
The Grand Imam added that every issue that is raised today in this regard “is nothing but a victory of outdated and ancient habits and customs, which do damage to the law of Islam and its rules.” He further clarified that it is necessary to distinguish between “rights shaped by contemporary civilizations ignoring religious morals and sentiments of human nature, and other rights formulated in societies where religion is a solid base in building their culture and lifestyles.”

What people say and what they do are often different. Just compare what Nancy said to the pope, and what she does in Washington and in the House. And what do they say in specific cases of violations of human rights, such as ones reported every day in the media, especially in Jihad Watch.
Doomer says
Not true,”women are equal to men”, if the Quran authorizes non-Muslim women who are slaves to be, raped. And how can non-Muslims be brothers and sisters in humanity , if such a thing is allowed?
If your non-Muslim mother,or sister,or female cousin, can be forced into sex slavery?

The last guy with such temerity was the islamic Scholar Mohammad Taha (sp?). The religious court in the Sudan tried, convicted and hung him for his blathering.

Lies are the stock-in-trade of Islam. Did even one MSM reporter ask for a citation?

Using deception to mask intended goals
Is a stated aim in the Muslim Brotherhood plan.
It’s quite unaffected by Western opinion polls
And is something we need to accept as soon as we can.
tim gallagher says
Wouldn’t this lying crap from this Muslim make him a target from the vast majority of Muslims who know that, in Islam, women are to be considered vastly inferior to men? Muslims would know that the misogyny is right there in the Koran. Or would they know that this is simply bullshit that this Muslim liar is telling and it is aimed at fooling the non-Muslims and is, therefore, quite acceptable?
GreekEmpress says
Good point. I smell taquiya.
If he means it, why isn’t he telling his Muslim brothers to quit slaughtering Christians in Africa, Egypt, Pakistan, et.al?
tim gallagher says
Well, that’s right, GreekEmpress. It has to be the sort of lying that is aimed at fooling the non-Muslims. All the Muslims would know that what he is saying is definitely not true because they all know that women are inferior beings according to islam. You would think that they would be incredibly annoyed at what this man is saying, and probably would kill him for saying it, but, since it is lying that is aimed at non-Muslims, it is considered to be fine and dandy.

Ignorance or conscious deception. No third alternative.
And pretty much the case whenever Islam is defended, i.e., one has to be ignorant to defend it or lying.

Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh claims Qur’an says ‘women are equal to men’ and calls non-Muslims ‘brothers in humanity’
Al-Tayeb said: “No one can deprive a woman of a single one of her rights, which were established by Islam, and which are found in a clear and concise sentence in the Qur’an: ‘Women are equal to men.’”
……………………
Of course there is no such verse in the Qur’an, and Imam Ahmad Muhammad Al-Tayeb must know this. This is out and out Taqiyya.
In fact, Al Azhar has issued Fatwas on the premissiblity of beating women and has affirned that they can be used as sex slaves.
Moreover, Al-Tayeb himels had admitted that women do not have equal inheritance rights under Islam, and that Muslim women are not allowed to a marry non-Muslim men, although Muslim men have the right to marry non-Muslim women.
He has other ugly Islamic views as well, unsurprisingly–including a hatred of Jews and affirmation that apostates must be murdered. Bizarely he has said that the US is occupying Palestine.

The Muslim activists are now (especially after 9/11) adopting:
1- change of identity
They never mention the Islamic code of punishment (Sharia).
They stress that they believe in Moses and Jesus. No longer call Jews “Zionists”, or Christians “Crusaders”
They use name like Paul John. Names like Mohammad and Mustafa were too strong to swallow, they thought.
They use the term “Sunday School” in place of “Friday Class”.
They end their speeches with the Christian expression “may God bless you”.
The American flag cover the background of their TV program set., wile in their daily ritual in Iran and elsewhere burn the flag and call America “The great Satan”.
2- Change vocabulary
They are using now words like Love, Grace, Salvation, justification and sanctification. Completely strange to Islamic vocabulary.
They change Koranic translation in order to hide some of Islam’s harsh teachings.
3- Change of way of life
Instead of living in isolation from society, their new strategy lie in trying to be accepted . They are now becoming active in partisan functions in order to have a say in party platforms. They conduct letter campaigns to members of congress to influence legislation. The run for public offices in hope of reaching a position of authority.
“And they (disbelievers) plotted to kill Isa (Jesus), and Allah plotted too. And Allah is the best of those who plot.” Surah 3:54
In Arabic “chir el makereen”.
“And (remember) when the disbelievers plotted against you (O Muhammad) to imprison , or to kill you, or to get you out (from your home, I.e. Makkah); they were plotting and Allah too was plotting, and Allah is the best of those who plot.” Surah 8:30
Different forms of lying:
•Taqiyya (Shia) or Muda’rat (Sunni): tactical deceit for the purposes of spreading Islam.
•Kitman: deceit by omission.
•Tawriya: deceit by ambiguity.
•Taysir: deceit through facilitation (not having to observe all the tenets of Sharia).
•Darura: deceit through necessity (to engage in something “Haram” or forbidden).
•Muruna: the temporary suspension of Sharia to make Muslim migrants appear “moderate.”
The Islamic deception has no limits
It is up to us to recognize it and stop it.
