From whom did Thomas Osadzinski learn about Islam? Where did he go to mosque? Is that mosque being investigated? Why not?
“US Student Faces Prison for Helping Islamic State,” Associated Press, October 19, 2021:
CHICAGO — A former Chicago college student was convicted Monday of attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State group.
Thomas Osadzinski, 22, wrote a computer code to help IS bypass programs designed to block the group’s propaganda, prosecutors said. The former DePaul University student, who was born in a Chicago suburb, was living in the city when he was arrested in 2019 during an FBI sting. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
His attorney, Joshua Herman, said during closing arguments that the case centered on the right to free speech and that Osadzinski had the right to watch and share the videos.
“Liking ISIS is not illegal,” Herman said in court.
But prosecutors alleged Osadzinski worked in coordination or at the direction of IS. Authorities said Osadzinski boasted in communications about his computer skills and ability to speak Arabic, and he bragged that he would use a gun and explosives to elude authorities if need be….

Wellington says
Will always, WILL ALWAYS, prefer a convert to Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Confucianism, Taoism—yes, a long list—to anyone who is a convert to Islam.
I mean just calculate the odds for peace and tolerance versus any other religion versus Islam.
Case closed.
mortimer says
Too true. Agree with Wellington. Other religions are more benign than Islam for good reasons.
Just think of the founders of the other religions Wellington mentioned and then compare them with the founder of Islam who was a polygamist, a pedophile, a pirate, a plunderer, a plagiarizer, a psychopath, a prevaricator, a playboy and an impostor.
How could a founder of a religion be less qualified than Mohammed?

Wellington: This exposes the myth of Islam being peaceful. It is obvious that the Mullahs train these people, unless they just convert by reciting the oath (I forget the details) and are not taught anything else, So they teach them that the highest service to ‘Allah’ is to kill those who are infidels. I am sure many converts do not go on to become terrorists, but the fact that many do, means that the Mullahs are not emphasising the ‘peaceful’ message.

Chicago: Man converts to Islam, writes computer code for ISIS, his lawyer says ‘liking ISIS is not illegal’
………….
“Liking” ISIS is not illegal–disgusting, but not illegal.
However, *aiding* ISIS is a different matter.
mortimer says
A favorable opinion of ISIS is common in many Muslim-majority countries: Pakistan 62%; Senegal 29%; Malaysia 25%; Burkina Faso 28%; Nigeria 20%; Turkey 19%; Indonesia 18%; Palestinian Territory 10%.
In any group of Muslims in the US, between 10% and 15% are likely to favor Islamic terrorist groups.
ALL Muslims are required to approve of jihadism or they have abandoned canonical Islam and they have created their own watered-down, customized version of Islam.

I looked at the poll, and the graphs in question. Why are you claiming that the people w/ ‘no opinion’ on ISIS have a favorable opinion of them? Like in Paliland, the actual number of pro-ISIS is 6%, not 10% and the anti-ISIS is 92% (it’s a different thing that the bulk of them support Hamas, who ISIS is at loggerheads w/). Similarly, in Pakistan, 28% are anti-ISIS, 62% have no opinion, and only 9% are pro-ISIS
I dunno what people see in you as far as you being ‘informed’, when you make claims that are demonstrably false

Yes, gravenimage.
Totally different.
“liking” vs aiding and abetting…

Agree, James.

Thomas Osadzinski was arrested as part of an FBI “sting”.
Does this mean he was encouraged or paid by FBI operatives to write the program?
Not saying what he did was right in any way shape or form, however, the FBI’s track record of catching real terrorists is a bit thin on the ground and me thinks they are taking a page out of the mudslime playbook and creating incidents to prove themselves.
gravenimage says
I don’t know anyone who is not a Jihadist who would volunteer to write code for ISIS.
Keith O says
True GI, but would he have come up with and initiated the plan by himself or was there “encouragement” from elsewhere?
gravenimage says
Infidel, this is not like being enticed to, say, buy cheap big-screen TVs off the back of a truck.
No one who is not a Jihadist would want to aid ISIS in the first place–whereas cheap consumer goods are something that even the most law-abiding citizens typically like. That’s why these kinds of stings are ill-advised and often illegal.
Robert Spencer has asked before what it would take to induce someone here to wage violent Jihad. It is a damned good question.
I am actually glad when Jihadists are caught–I’m sure this has saved a lot of lives.
mortimer says
Thomas Osadzinski has clearly gone off his rocker and needs to be DE-programmed from this Death Cult.

Yep.
PMK says
How is this man any different from a computer hacker? If there are programs that prevent ISIS from posting its propaganda and this man wrote code to bypass them, those who wrote the blocking programs obviously have bugs in their code and they need to modify and update their systems.
gravenimage says
Not sure this is the main point, PMK.

Good gosh. Where have these lawyers come from? How did they get a law degree and pass the bar exam? Writing code for isis goes a lot further than just, I love you, hugs and kisses, mr isis. The great thing is that there is a paper trail a mile long (save for later) for these threats to the American people who hold law degrees.

He was convicted “of attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State group.”
This is like Fauci “attempting to provide material support to the CCP Covid Bioweapon.”
Fauci should be facing a wrongful death suit for millions dead along with the CCP. In the LONG RUN, nothing significant will happen to any terrorist. They will be released to go back with their friends to do it again,…. Fauci included.
