Jihad Watch reported in mid-October:
Greece has increased the presence of border police at the Greek-Turkish border to prevent a surge of migrants from Afghanistan, while joining 12 other EU countries that have sent a letter to the EU, calling for “more extensive EU measures against illegal immigration,” and requesting funding to build border walls. Aside from Greece, the countries include Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Slovakia.
The EU has rejected those requests for funding.
The European Union has previously called on the Taliban to form an “inclusive” government, and aims to pursue “engagement” with the jihad group. That’s enough to demonstrate the irrational and clueless mindset of globalist EU leaders, who are routinely undermining the sovereignty and rule of law of EU member nations.
Lithuania, Poland and Hungary have already erected walls to keep out illegal migrants, while Denmark plans to begin undoing the immigration policy of its predecessors, with a goal of deporting up to 35,000 migrants by 2030.
“Pleas to finance border walls rejected by European Commission,” by Naomi O’Leary, Irish Times, October 22, 2021:
The European Union will not fund border walls to control migration, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen vowed after a group of member states demanded EU cash to fortify their frontiers.
In recent years member states have begun plans to build hundreds of kilometres of barriers along the union’s eastern boundaries, reflecting hardened policies towards migration across the bloc.
Several national leaders called for EU cash to fund the construction as they met in Brussels this week.
“We also should talk about a physical fence or physical border, which is extremely needed as a short-term measure in order to deal with this crisis,” Lithuanian president Gitanas Nauseda said at the summit.
Tensions over the issue have exploded in eastern member states since the autocratic regime of Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus began flying people from the Middle East and ushering them towards the borders of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, seen as retaliation for EU sanctions against the regime.
Several people have died along the border in recent weeks, with many caught in desperate circumstances between Polish and Belarusian border forces as temperatures drop.
More than one leader warned that Minsk was seeking to establish new air routes to bring people in, after the EU shut down some corridors by negotiating with the countries of origin.
“Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. Maybe there will be three, four, five-thousand migrants staying at the border at the same time or trying to cross the border in different places,” Mr Nauseda told journalists. ”We will not be ready to take this challenge. So this is the reason we have to be decisive.”
Austrian backing
The appeal was backed by Austria’s new chancellor Alexander Schallenberg, who asked “Why should this burden be paid exclusively by Lithuanian taxpayers?” Greece, which has long complained that migration is used for political ends by its neighbour, Turkey, also backed the call, with prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis suggesting this would be a way “to be serious and effective in guarding the European borders”.
In recent weeks, the interior ministers of a dozen member states appealed to the European Commission to tweak its rules to allow for EU funds to finance border barriers, in a letter signed by Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary and Slovakia, among others….

Countries east of Germany have the most to lose from unrestricted, illegal migration. They should create a separate, cooperative organization of their own and build the walls needed by mutual assistance. Anything this massive will be cheaper with a central plan and centralized, stream-lined construction team. No need to reinvent the wheel for each separate country that needs a wall.
Infidel says
Actually, it’s time for all countries in Europe who loathe the EU micromanaging every aspect of life on the continent to form a loose trading bloc – something like ASEAN in South East Asia – and have free agreements within themselves. Countries like Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Armenia. As more countries consider leaving the EU, they could join this separate group.
I might have even thrown in UK, but have no idea what to make of BoJo’s government right now – making the right call on the EU and the wrong call on muslims. If Salvini returns to power in Italy, I might toss in Italy as well. I’d even consider countries like Serbia, Ukraine, Armenia and some others

Infidel,
Sounds like an idea worthy of some discussion…

“….states have to become more open states, in terms of the people who inhabit them”,
“sovereignty is an illusion – … sovereignty is an absolute illusion that has to be put behind us.”
So said the late Peter Sutherland, UN Special Representative for Migration. He was responsible for promoting the establishment of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (Note: “Global”). The globalists do not want to defend individual nations.
Westman says
Without sovereignty, peace is an illusion. Even Muslims realize that language and geographical differences cannot be merged.
Before sovereignty, life was chaotic and dangerous with the personal expectation that any stranger might pose a mortal threat.
Nations like Japan and China aren’t filling their country with foreign culture immigrants to compensate for an actual “aging population” while EU leaders are doing their best to turn Europe into eventual chaos.
It seems obvious that EU “leaders” want to be the big fish in the big pond while sovereignty has restricted them to be smaller fish. How they must dream of an EU army under their control….

The EU does *not* represent the wishes or safety of its people.
On Twitter the witless Ursula von der Leyen said this:
“Migration is a fact for Europe – and it always will be.
It’s time to come together and forge a common solution.”
And this:
“We need a sustainable solution on migration.
We have to build a system that manages migration in the long term and is fully grounded in European values”

Apparently that solution does not include keeping out the invaders who want to destroy you and your culture…

Muslim immigration will be, “Gounded in European values” says Ursula. Such ignorance of the incompatible “Islamic values”.

The EU leaders are not ignorant of either Islamic values or their incompatibility with European values. This is why they are actively orchestrating the transformation of European values into Islamic values. Don’t worry, Islamic values are well on their way to becoming compatible with “European values”. UvdL knows exactly what she’s talking about.

Building a wall to keep the enemy out what a novel idea. Biden Administration STOPED the building of a border wall in America because President TRUMP was building it on the southern border and he hated Trump more that he loves the people and the country he is supposed to lead and protect. Then he invites everyone and anyone who wants to come in to just walk on in.
Its CRIMINAL negligence to ignore immigration and border laws, like giving a loaded gun to a four year old to play with, somebody is going to get hurt and it is Biden’s fault. Biden is an accessary to criminal activities and should be impeached or inedited.
