Kashmiri Hindus and Sikhs are reported to be reeling from a spate of deadly jihad attacks.
A senior pro-freedom leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, condemned the killings and said he is “deeply grieved”.
A comment such as this is encouraging, but it should not be taken to deemphasize the magnitude of the longstanding jihad threat in Jammu and Kashmir, which has often been likened to the jihad in the so-called “disputed territories” in Israel, when the real underlying factor is the jihad imperative to spread the hegemony of Sharia throughout the region.
Last month, Al-Qaeda called for the “liberation” of Kashmir and other so-called Islamic lands from the “clutches of the enemies of Islam” in a message congratulating the Taliban for its victory in Afghanistan. The message stated:
“O Allah! Liberate the Levant, Somalia, Yemen, Kashmir and the rest of the Islamic lands from the clutches of the enemies of Islam. O Allah! Grant freedom to Muslim prisoners across the world.
The European Foundation For South Asian studies has also reported:
There has been a sudden heave in Pan-Islamism in Kashmir’s Muslim society gradually marginalizing an initial pro-nationalist agenda of insurgency. Rabidly fanatical clerics are indoctrinating the youth with Wahhabi ideology, whereby they reject the old Kashmiri tradition of people visiting and paying obeisance at the shrines of popular saints (Sufis and Rishis), terming it a violation of the teachings of Islam.
Two years ago, war fears began to escalate when “firebrand” Muslim cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz, who was close to Osama bin Laden, told his followers that it was “mandatory” to wage jihad against India. “He also demanded the country’s prime minister Imran Khan free Islamists held in Pakistani jails and ‘open the border for our fighters’ to strike Indian forces.”
Then in mid-September:
A case in the Aabpara police station against Maulana Abdul Aziz, his associates, and seminary students under the Anti-Terrorism Act and different sections of PPC has been registered after the Taliban’s flags were found hoisted on the roof of Jamia Hafsa in G7/3 Islamabad on Saturday.
Meanwhile, non-Muslims continue to be targeted and terrorized by determined jihadists, as in so many regions globally, ignoring all calls from human rights groups and more moderate Muslim clerics to stop their campaigns of jihad terror.
“Kashmiri Hindus, Sikhs reel from spate of deadly attacks,” by Rifat Freed, Al Jazeera, October 10, 2021:
Srinagar, Indian-administered Kashmir – A string of targeted killings of civilians this week in the Indian-administered Kashmir has caused a sense of fear among the minority communities, with many Hindus starting to leave the region.
A Sikh principal and her Hindu colleague were shot dead inside their school on the outskirts of Srinagar, the region’s main city, on Thursday in the third attack within a week. The attackers first checked the identity cards of the teachers and then isolated 46-year-old Sikh woman Supinder Kaur and a local Hindu teacher Deepak Chand before shooting them dead on the school premises, officials said.
A total of seven people have been killed in the recent spate of killings, blamed on the rebels fighting Indian rule.
Authorities have asked members of the Hindu community not to venture out of their homes. But that has failed to assuage their fears. Some of them have quietly left the region, bringing back memories of the 1990s, which saw the flight of the Hindu community.
Tens of thousands of people from the minority Hindu community were forced to leave mainly for the southern city of Jammu after some members of the community were targeted following the eruption of an armed rebellion in 1989.
But about 800 families had decided to stay back despite the precarious security situation. Among them was the family of *Rudresh Chaku, 23, a computer science graduate, from Srinagar.
The “recent attacks have brought back the memories of the 1990s,” Chaku, a member of the Hindu Pandit community, told Al Jazeera.
“I was not born in the early 1990s but today my parents are witnessing the flashback of those times and I am able to see closely how tough the times would have been,” Chaku.
The young computer graduate sees his future in Kashmir but says his parents are worried.
“They regret not migrating in the 1990s. If these things continue, we cannot stay here any more,” Chaku said, adding that for the past five days, the family has not stepped out of their home.
“Though my Muslim friends are calling all the time for any help and support me to make me feel safe, but the fear is still there,” he said….
Muslim religious leaders in the region have condemned the killings from mosques, asking people to take initiatives to make the minorities feel safe in the region.
A senior pro-freedom leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, condemned the killings and said he is “deeply grieved”….

The problem in India at large is that Modi, who was anything but a Gandhian when he ran Gujarat, has become a full blown Gandhian as prime minister. For him, Hindus lives are expendable when it comes to proving himself to the Western elite Left in order to try and drive a wedge b/w them and India’s Left. Only problem: the Left are globalists and that ain’t likely to happen
Any responsible Indian government would have dismissed the government in Waste Bengal, citing not just Law & Order but also security concerns. Also, in Kashmir, Jammu should have been separated from Kashmir and the BJP governments in places like Uttarakhand need to crack down on muslim immigration into that state.
Like I’ve been saying for several India thread now, it’s high time there was a right leaning Hindutva alternative to the BJP, since the Shiv Sena has abandoned that role completely
