As if thousands of Muslims storming into Hindu villages, plundering Hindu temples and raiding Hindu houses was not enough, Bangladesh had to introduce the draconian Digital Security Act 2018, that targeted and destroyed several Hindu lives, mainly promising youth in the Islamic nation. A gag order in the guise of a provision, the DSA was passed by the Parliament of Bangladesh during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure as prime minister, despite being opposed by members of the media, the political opposition, and human rights organizations.
Several Hindu students have since been arrested by the Bangladesh Police under sections of the Digital Security Act 2018 and its 2020 amended version, for alleged sacrilege against Islam. We know about only a few of them, as the government is adept at suppressing information.
An established pattern can be observed in all these cases. Hackers hack Hindu Facebook IDs, and using the hacked IDs, post blasphemous comments against Islam. Screenshots of these comments or posts go viral on social media platforms, and mobs of Muslims attack the Hindus. A complaint is lodged under the Digital Security Act (DSA) against the accused blasphemer, and he or she is picked up by the police to rot in jail for an unspecified time.
In October 2020, the Satkhira Detective Branch (DB) of police took Mithun Mandal, a Hindu student of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), into custody for alleged “derogatory comments” about Muhammad on social media. He was in his first year studying Finance and Banking, and was picked up from his residence in Debhata Upazila of Satkhira. Mithun was suspended from the university for the alleged blasphemy; authorities lodged a case against him under various sections of the legal code, including the Digital Security Act.
Again, in the same month, Tithi Sarker, a third-year student of Zoology in Jagannath University (JnU), was suspended for “offensive comments” about the Prophet of Islam. The suspension was signed by Registrar Md Ohiduzzaman, and a show-cause notice was served to Sarker. This suspension came soon after the beheading of Samuel Paty by a Muslim student for showing cartoons of Muhammad during a class on free speech in France. Tithi has been missing since October 25, 2020, and it is feared that she has been abducted by Muslim hardliners. Her family has no clue about her whereabouts, and the girl does not answer her cell phone.
On October 28, 2020, the Dhaka Tribune reported that two Hindu students, Protik Majumder, who was studying environmental science and disaster management, and Dipto Pal, who was studying pharmacy, were expelled by the disciplinary board of the Noakhali Science and Technology University, again for “insulting” Muhammad and Islam on social media. Their seats at the residential were also annulled, and they were served with a show-cause notice to explain why they must not be expelled and booked under the DSA by November 2.
We have earlier reported on the heart-wrenching case of Dipti Rani Das, a 17-year-old Hindu student in 10th grade, who was arrested for “hurting Muslim sentiments” under the Digital Security act and has been in a correctional facility for over a year now. Her bail appeal has been rejected four times, without any crime being proven against her in a court of law.
Mithun Dey, a resident of Feni Town and a private researcher in a foreign university, was detained by the police from his Nazir Road residence on October 29, 2020. The police accused Mithun of posting various “objectionable materials against Islam” on Facebook. He allegedly had made derogatory remarks against the Prophet of Islam and his wife Ayesha Siddiqa.
While the Islamic country is systematically crushing Hindu students and torching their ambitions, it is not sparing established Hindu members of society, either. Ruma Sarkar, a gold medallist serving as an Assistant Teacher at Begum Badrunnessa Government Girls’ College, was sued under the Digital Security Act and detained by the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) for speaking up against the atrocities meted out at the Hindus during the Durga Puja this year.
The 27-year-old Hindu activist Shovon Kumar Das and 30-year-old Ashish Mallick were also detained for raising awareness about this anti-Hindu pogrom in Bangladesh.
Instead of preventing the violence from spreading throughout the country for days on end, the Bangladesh government was more vigilant regarding preventing the news of these genocidal attacks on the Hindus from spreading. In an attempt to silence free voices, the official Twitter handle of ISKCON Bangladesh was taken down. The recent arrests of Sarkar, Das and Mallick is the Islamic state’s way of getting back at dissenting Hindu voices, and a well-deliberated tool employed to annihilate stable living conditions for the Hindus in the country.

“Brenton Tarrant recently provided his lawyer, Tony Ellis, with a 15-page description of the alleged mistreatment the murderer said he experienced while in custody for the unthinkable massacre at the mosques in Christchurch, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Ellis outlined Tarrant’s allegations in a memorandum that he sent last week to the chief coroner, Judge Deborah Marshall, the report said.
“[Tarrant] means he was subject to inhuman or degrading treatment whilst on remand, which prevented a fair trial,” Eillis wrote in the memo.”

The thing that Bangladesh glosses over is the fact that no Hindu would dare post derogatory stuff about islam b’cos they know the savage reaction that it would provoke. Yet they ignore the probability that it’s usually planted by muslims in order to nail Hindus
One correction on one of the stories above: Tithi Sarkar, one of the students who disappeared, actually had fled w/ her Hindu boyfriend to another city, got married, and was later arrested. I’ve not read anything about her ever since

Absolutely! In fact, a combination of Crusades (from Christians) and Dharamyudhs (from Hindus and Buddhists)
