My latest in PJ Media:
Potemkin President Joe Biden’s handlers have proclaimed that their wildly profligate ($1.75 trillion), pork-laden, astonishingly corrupt spending bill constitutes the “largest effort to combat climate change in American history,” and Old Joe himself rattled off some scripted words to that effect Thursday, saying that the gargantuan, grossly expensive bill will be “the most significant investment to address the climate crisis ever,” and “will truly transform this nation.” But as usual, our political elites are monstrous hypocrites who never hesitate to rub their hypocrisy in our faces, as if to emphasize their complacent certainty that their hegemony is forever unassailable.
The day after Old Joe exhorted us to support this massive investment in fixing the allegedly manmade climate problem, he climbed into his massive well-armored limousine, which is known as The Beast, and cruised around Rome as part of a motorcade that was at least 85 vehicles long. Climate change emergency, eh, Joe?
The Rome bureau chief for the Washington Post, Chico Harlan, tweeted a video of the seemingly endless motorcade, along with the understated comment: “Biden arriving at the Vatican. His motorcade is lonnnnnng.” Post photographer M. Robinson Chavez stated what onlookers were likely thinking, that this extraordinarily excessive display was “Not exactly carbon friendly.”
On the same day, Old Joe met with both Pope Francis and Italian President Sergio Mattarella and discussed climate change with both. It is unlikely in the extreme that either of them was impolite enough to ask Joe why he was riding around making an extravagant demonstration of the efficiency of the gasoline-powered engine when he is trying to soak the American people for $555 billion to shower on green energy projects and is issuing dire warnings about what will happen if we don’t fork over the cash.
This has, of course, been a hallmark of his disastrous faux-presidency. Throughout what passed for his campaign, Old Joe was banging the climate drum: in October 2020, he warned that climate change was “the number one issue facing humanity. And it’s the number one issue for me. Climate change is the existential threat to humanity. Unchecked, it is going to actually bake this planet. This is not hyperbole. It’s real. And we have a moral obligation.”
As is so often the case, the amiable old grifter was lying. If he really believed that climate change was “the existential threat to humanity,” as well as the “number one issue” for himself personally, he wouldn’t have swung into Rome with an 85-car posse as if it were 1955 and gas was twenty-nine cents a gallon. A man who has any kind of sense of integrity or responsibility (which admittedly may leave out Old Joe), if he genuinely believes that we are facing down an existential threat and that he himself has a personal responsibility to do all he can to overcome this threat, does not turn around and casually pretend that the threat doesn’t exist and feed what he thinks is the threat with an extended joyride.
There is more. Read the rest here.

Rumour has it that it was originally supposed to be a 100 car motorcade so, by cutting it down to “just” 85 cars, there was actually a 15% reduction in fuel usage. Great example for the rest of us to cut down our gas use by 15%. Now THAT’S leadership.

Let’s Go, Brandon, in an 85-Car Motorcade: Biden Flaunts His Hypocrisy Before Climate Change Summit
……………………
*85 cars*? That’s just absurd–especially given the occasion. This has nothing to do with security–in fact, this probably makes things more dangerous–and I doubt that that many are for any entourage really needed for the conference (even if the conference were not largely bogus to begin with).
Rarely says
82 of the cars are probably for media.

muslims armed with nuclear and biological weapons, present a far greater threat to life on this planet than climate change does, particularly in the near future. But both present major threats to us, and both should be immediately addressed simultaneously. And as much as I cannot stand this fraudulent Biden administration, I believe that they genuinely do intend to try to tackle the climate change problem, while ignoring the muslim problem.
On the other hand the Trump administration was tackling the muslim problem, but Trump was in denial of climate change, and that was the only policy of Donald Trump that I couldn’t agree with him on.
Having said that, I was and still am a die-hard Trump supporter.
mortimer says
This 85-car excess is typical of elitism. They expect to maintain THEIR OWN PLUTOCRAT lifestyles at the same squandering levels, while demanding that everyone else reduce theirs. The strapped middle-class and working class can reduce their use of oil, but the elites are special and rules are made to be broken BY THE ELITES.
So, they have DOUBLE STANDARDS.
Let them eat cake. Still, most of those who are minions of the elites and brainwashed by them have not figured it out yet.

Hey, John Kerry flying around in his private jet telling the rest of us to cut our carbon emissions is not very happy with you! Now go & eat your insects like the elites want us to do in the future.

Joe Biden is disingenuous for going along with that “climate change” hoax.
On June first of the year 2017 on television on the Smithsonian channel was a program about the ecology and the dangers posed to it that would be harmful for all living things, including humans. Likewise in Summit on the subject of climate change held in Europe by the different countries in the ecology is, very obviously, viewed as a very important topic to many people.
Therefore, all of this is somewhat reminder that once when I was watching television a scientist was interviewed and he was, most likely, sincere when he said the in forty years unless drastic changes were enacted to stop the pollution of the environment living conditions on earth will be uninhabitable for all life.
So environmental issues of this plaint are extremely important. The point is that interview with that scientist on television was in the year 1967. Now it’s the year 2021 and thus more than fifty years sine he said “In forty years “there will be awful environmental disaster.
This should tell all thinking people something.
Walter Sieruk says
Joe Biden is a sick joke , for example, with the silly topic of climate chance and also the mask. Biden doesn’t always wear his mask When he does it must only be for show. One reason Biden doesn’t practice what he preachers might be because had some doctors and medical experts told him that mask wearing for from the corona-virus is a sick joke and Biden is too disingenuous with his ulterior motive so he keeps on pretending that mask wearing is important to stay healthy.
All that empty talk about those masks being used a self-protection for the may be nothing but balderdash. For example a few brave scientists have come right out and explained that those masks are a useless hoax for a person to protect himself or herself from being infected by COVID -19.
This is because the viruses is so very small that will though the fibers of that mas straight into that person. It’s just trying to stop a BB shot out from a BB gun with a tennis net.
James Lincoln says
Walter,
Masks, except for possibly properly fit-tested and frequently changed N95 respirators, are mostly political theater.
I keep a cloth mask in my back pocket – just so that I don’t get kicked out of, say, Walgreens.
Adults can make their own choice but they definitely should not be worn by schoolchildren.
Walter Sieruk says
Yes, Iv’e seen mask videos being forced being forced on kindergarten children.
That id child abuse for sure.

There is no hard scientific evidence to this day for man-made climate change. None. Zero. This is why those pushing this nonsense (e.g., the decrepit UN) have to use phrases like “highly likely” or “most probable” in their deceitful and deluded attempts to convince others that man-made climate change is something catastrophic. It isn’t and I have challenged people for many years to prove me wrong. No one has to date.
And remember: Back in the 1970’s global cooling was a huge scare. The April 28th, 1975 Newsweek cover article was entitled “The Cooling World.” Yep, we were all going to see mass starvation by 2000 because of global cooling.
Wrong then. Wrong now. Just as wrong as maintaining that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance.
Wellington says
Oh yeah, almost forgot, “Let’s Go Brandon.”
The West is now overwhelmingly run by idiots, assholes, incompetents, control-freaks and the actually malevolent. Can there be any doubt?
john smith says
I am going to have to disagree with you on this wellington, there is scientific evidence to support the fact that climate change is real. Only a fool would brush this under the carpet, which I don’t believe you are one.
Wellington says
john smith: Well then, I respectfully ask you to cite the evidence (the United Nations reports via the UNIPCC are often cited as evidence but they are themselves riddled with many fallacious assumptions). And remember, no one disputes that climate change is real because the climate is always changing. The matter at hand is whether man-made climate change is horribly affecting the climate and I submit (not meant in an Islamic way), john smith, that there is no hard scientific studies that exist for this as scientists like the recently deceased Fred Singer, Judith Curry, Roy Spencer and Richard Lindzen have been pointing out for years.
May I suggest you go to a site like Climate Depot for an entirely different perspective on man-made climate change and how very dishonest often times the man-made climate change crowd has been, much as those making excuses for Islam have also many times been dishonest in an attempt to whitewash Islam.

I especially liked the part in a comment which went something like; Roosters crow 10 minutes before dawn therefore there is strong correlation between roosters and dawn, but you can’t assume roosters cause dawn.
I think the equivalence and effectiveness of the entire assembly associated with climate change and Cop26 is captured by this old ditty.

Thank you for your reply Wellington and for the link.
Before I even start I don’t believe that hard evidence is necessary when it comes to the fate of our planet, circumstantial is more than enough as we have no planet B.
According to the site”The World Counts” we are pumping out 43 billion tons of carbon dioxide every year, into the atmosphere. If these figures are correct and I have no reason to dispute them, then this cannot be good for the health of our planet.
Since 1900 the sea level has risen by 8 inches, and 3 of those inches since the year 1993.
Now as you say this could be down to the natural heating up of the planet, and I certainly hope you are correct, but on the other hand you could be wrong. As James states “that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try to make the air that we breath as clean as reasonably achievable”.
All the best to you and yours John.
P.S. one thing we can all agree on, TO HELL WITH islam.

I wrote you a very long reply which did not post. I’ll try again.
Please distinguish between man-climate change and a clean environment. So many times when I register doubts about the former I get accused of not caring about the latter. Absolutely false.
As for CO2, when did it become a poison? It is food for plants. Without it, no life on Earth would exist. Right now there are about 400 parts per million of CO2 in the atmosphere. Two centuries ago it was about 300. Back in the medieval warming period (c.700-1300 AD) it was around 600—and it has been as high as 8,000 parts per million in past geological eras. Additionally, CO2 acts as a coolant in higher levels of the atmosphere.
Mankind pumps out around 14 gigatons of CO2 yearly but the oceans and seas of the world pump out 190-230 gigatons of CO2 annually. But man is irreparably harming the climate? Right. (And yes, I know that the waters of the world reabsorb much of the CO2 they pump out but ditto for the puny amount man does.)
Finally, may I suggest you put into an Internet search engine, “George Carlin on global warming.” It’s a hoot and hits the mark brilliantly. Good-bye for now and, as always, I write with respect for you.

Way back when I was going through school I worked moving furniture in the summer. They paid better than any other summer job and I didn’t need to work out to stay in shape. One hot summer in LA the smog was so bad that we all had breathing issues. From a distance you could watch the brown horizon creep closer and closer each day. In some places it was a dirtier world back then. Those days are gone now.
I still haven’t seen any significant changes in sea level along the beaches. Beaches that I am very familiar with.

tgusa,
Briefly off-topic:
I’ve had summer jobs while in college that kept me in shape. One was as a bellboy at a very busy resort hotel. Lots and lots of suitcases, etc.
And I didn’t have to “work out”. Made me think of Hoss Cartwright from Bonanza. If his father Ben ever saw him doing jumping jacks, he would send them out to fix the fence, bale hay, etc…
tgusa says
James,
Jobs like that made us appreciate the jobs that came later. Most peoples work ethic is formed when they are young.
I have an idea. Lets get rid of carbon on The Carbon Based Planet! What a great idea. Carbon dioxide, what plants love, kill that too, vacuum it out of the atmosphere before it is too late.
If these people lived Mars on they would be demanding the removal of red dirt. If I wanted to destroy the world out of nothing but malice I would be supporting these out of touch and perhaps crazy people.

Wellington says,
“There is no hard scientific evidence to this day for man-made climate change. None. Zero.”
As far as I can tell from independent research, that is a true statement.
The climate is definitely changing, no hard evidence that it is being caused by humans.
That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try to make the air that we breathe as clean as reasonably achievable – and still have robust economic development.

My question about these green energy proposals is; why do they need taxpayer subsidies? If they are capable of standing on their own two feet financially and saving the planet as their promoters claim why don’t the woke banks and the woke corporations fund them without subsidies from the taxpayer? If the woke banks won’t finance modern low emission new coal fired generators then they should fund the woke green unreliable costly alternatives on their own dime.
Oh and what about the amount of pollution produced by actually making solar panels in the first place? You need reliable base-load power for that, and what do you do with acres of solar panels when they need to be replaced?
Do the greenies know it takes 200 tons of coal to make and install one wind generator?
Do the greenies realize many countries like Germany and the USA are burning forest timber in furnaces for generating electricity just so they don’t use coal and they do that because burning timber has been given a free pass by the UN? Do they realize how insane that is? They are burning the lungs of the planet and producing much more CO2 per unit of energy than if they just burned black coal.
The hypocrisy is endless, now they want to make hydrogen claiming it is clean and they want the taxpayer to subsidise it of course. Thing is, there hasn’t been a process invented yet that doesn’t use more energy to produce the hydrogen than you get when you use the hydrogen to produce energy.

gregbeetham,
Lots of good points, my compliments.
May I add:
In my humble opinion, the United States needs to immediately start building more nuclear power plants – anticipating the large percent of electric vehicles hitting the roads in the coming decades.
gregbeetham says
Thanks, and we in Oz should do the same thing then we can use the Uranium we have plenty of ourselves.
The greenies are going to need base-load power from somewhere to make all those electric cars, they can’t expect to keep using coal to smelt steel or aluminium or to make those Lithium batteries or to make those tyres and rare earth electric motors, or to make all the various dash instruments not to mention the processing chips that are essential to make the whole thing work.
You can’t use power that is not stable and dependable for just about any of those processes so nuclear power is one logical answer.

What a nice trip for our political leaders. First class travel is hard to beat, particularly when you don’t have to pay for it. The cost of this trip would probably cover the cost to build a small town in middle class America. But these people believe that they deserve these perks, as you know they are better than the rest of us and know what they are doing? While they preach climate changes for us, they think nothing of flying private jets weekly around the world to go home from Washington or to go play with friends and family at OUR expense. Everything is about THEM. Hate to tell them that politicians are not SUPER STARS they are public employees of the American TAX PAYER and CITIZENS.
