My latest in PJ Media:
Edward Durr is the New Jersey truck driver who showed that there is still life in the American system and that sometimes the little guy can strike back at the machine. Durr won a seat in the New Jersey state senate on a pro-America, pro-Trump, low-taxes platform after spending just $153 on his campaign. But the empire is striking back now, and Durr, who is clearly not experienced in the rough-and-tumble of the current war for America’s soul, handed his foes a big victory Friday when he apologized for statements he made on social media as a private citizen over the years—statements that offend our woke self-appointed cultural overlords.
Durr’s apology was carefully worded and qualifying: “I’m a passionate guy and I sometimes say things in the heat of the moment. If I said things in the past that hurt anybody’s feelings, I sincerely apologize.” Still, he had clearly allowed himself to be put on the defensive. He also deactivated his Twitter account and deleted many Facebook posts.
The establishment media ginned up the controversy because, according to The Associated Press, Durr “seemed to equate not opposing COVID-19 vaccination mandates to remaining silent during the Holocaust, including with the post a photo of a yellow star that the National Socialist party forced Jewish people to wear.”
Even worse, Durr refused to accept the Leftist myth of the January 6 “insurrection.” “He also said on Facebook that the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol was not an insurrection but ‘an unauthorized entry by undocumented federal employers.’” Durr’s posts on Facebook, AP informs us solemnly, “show he closely followed and posted in support of former President Donald Trump’s baseless claims about election fraud.” One wonders if AP has heard of the Arizona election audit. But they quote, as an example of Durr’s egregious and unacceptable positions, a January 7 Facebook post in which he wrote: “I do not agree or support the entering of the Capitol! But I was not surprised after courts refuse to do their job!”
This wasn’t Durr’s only departure from woke orthodoxy. “He also boasted last year of defying New Jersey’s indoor mask requirements while visiting stores, and appeared to downplay the seriousness of the pandemic.”
Worst of all, in a 2019 tweet, Durr wrote, “Mohammed was a pedophile! Islam is a false religion! Only fools follow Muslim teachings! It is a cult of hate!”
In his apology, Durr tried to mitigate this by saying, “I support everybody’s right to worship in any manner they choose and to worship the God of their choice. I support all people and I support everybody’s rights. That’s what I am here to do, work for the people and support their rights.”
That’s great, but lost in the furor over Durr’s supposedly outrageous statements is the question of whether or not they were true. Regarding the non-insurrection and the possibility of election fraud, there is abundant evidence to support Durr’s position; it’s just not evidence that the establishment media considers it acceptable to examine, much less believe.
There is more. Read the rest here.

Too bad he apologized because doing so to leftists is like throwing meat to the sharks. It only increases their feeding frenzy. Furthermore, the man makes sense concerning the events of Jan. 6. Those people who entered the Capital on that day were simply undocumented federal employees who were seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Any of them who have been detained and SEPARATED FROM THEIR CHILDREN (imagine me repeating that several times in a loud voice) deserve the same $450,000 per person that any other undocumented individual would get for breaking the law and being where they want to be even if they are not supposed to be there.
CogitoErgoSum says
Sorry. Just for the record when I wrote Capital it should have been Capitol.

Not to worry. It wasn’t your only error.
Infidel says
Like it was discussed yesterday in the thread on the news of this event, saying ‘I’m sorry if you were offended’ is not a real apology. So I don’t think there’s much to worry about here. I just hope that the NJ GOP has more people like him, and that fossils like the Christies (both Christie Todd Whitman and Chris Christie) disappear from the party

I’m with u, politicians apologizing after they win to show constituents that he intends to represent them all equally is common.
It is indeed like throwing blood in the water though. I’m sure this will only be the start of attacks on the guy who beat the machine.

Infidel,
Yes, Only unconditional apologies are real apologies. What he has done is a “wriggle out” reaction. It does not in anyway say about the stand he has taken on the statement he has made as not an abject surrender, if you will.
somehistory says
Everyone has the “right” to worship whomever they wish, but others have the same right not to do so, and to point out that some “worship” is a danger to those not taking part.
It’s a lot easier to defend someones’ ideas if those ideas are harmless, but the ideas that islam teaches, are far from harmless.
His life is probably in danger, even though he said he’s sorry some were offended. mozlums don’t *forgive* having been offended.
And, he’s right about the Jan 6 thing:

The Jan 6th “thing”???
Are you blind?
It was hardly an NFL tailgate party. Ya I know, they wee all FBI agents trying to make Trump look bad (as if he needs any help).
somehistory says
It was a set-up, but thing keeps me from having to find that other key in the dark….and not putting + instead.
asking someone who has been nearly blind “are you blind” is not very nice. ten lashes with a wet noodle for you.
just as the MI “kidnapping” *thing* was run by a dozen agents of the fbi, the Jan 6 “thing* was too.

Trolls? lol. Because I actually looked at the Jan 6th videos and because I don’t abide by the weird conspiracy theories such as “they were just sightseers and picnickers” or that it was all staged by the FBI?
Give your head a shake. Watch the videos and, if you aren’t sickened by them and eager to know exactly what was behind it all, I’d be surprised.
P.S. Try to avoid conspiracy web sites for your info.
Wellington says
He should have offered a Rudy Giuliani type apology, to wit, extending a sincere apology to everyone who feels they need one.
Infidel says
He pretty much did. Saying, ‘I’m sorry if you were offended’ is the sort of apology we condemn from the Left when it’s made, b’cos it demonstrates that they’re not apologizing for the original offense, but just for feelings being hurt. That’s exactly what Ed Durr did, so he effectively did not apologize for any of the true things he said about islam and Mohammed
Wellington says
I don’t think, Infidel, it was “Rudy” enough.

What a disappointment he backed down on Islam. But there is good news, recently Mohammed Hijab interviewed Bart Ehrman,45 min,on “Who Got Jesus Right: Muslims or Christians? | Mohammed Hijab Interviews Dr. Bart Ehrman”
https://youtu.be/4pbyhxdiMOU
It backfired.I think Hijab is secretly an ex-Muslim and he must have known way ahead of time what Ehrman would have said. Of course he knew.
Apostate Prophet made a short clip of it,funny,3 min:”Bart Ehrman Roasts Islam”
https://youtu.be/JozODvCuvdo
Here is a summary of the interview from the comments section:
“Here is summary of what I got out of the dialogue.
According to Bart, the Gospels can be used to determine what is historical about Jesus.
Jesus died by crucifixion.
The Gospels do portray Jesus as God in some sense.
Bart did not give up Christianity because of his scholarship.
If a book does not have contradictions that does not mean it is from God.
A book that has contradictions does not mean the book is not from God.
Historical contradictions does not mean what is intended theologically is incorrect.
Hijab kept saying evangelicals believe in biblical inerrancy, however, most evangelicals I know do not
believe in biblical inerrancy.
Most believe only the original autographs were inerrant.
Bart Ehrman rebukes Hijab, pointing out the arrogance behind telling us what God wills and does not will
regarding Divine revelation.
Paul knew James, the brother of Jesus and Peter the disciple of Jesus.
I would add my own point. even if the Quran is perfectly preserved, (which is not the case), and contains
information from a greater intelligence, even then, it does not prove the Quran is from, the God.”
gravenimage says
I think Hijab is secretly an ex-Muslim
…………….
Doomer, I know you have been claiming lately that all pious Muslims, including Jihadists, are secretly ex-Muslims–but this does not make sense.
Doomer says
Not all, just a few 3 or 4. Ehrman has for years made statements that go against the Quran, hard to believe Hijab was ignorant of it all. Though maybe I’m wrong.

Politicians never cease to amaze me. For example, I used to think that Joe Biden just didn’t give a crap but now I’m pretty sure that he does …….. although he may still say he doesn’t. It’s just all too much blah, blah, blah as a certain not mentally ill little girl from Sweden might say to us.

I’m sure he got his death threats. He can’t spend $153 on security and expect to be protected. This is fear driven, yet also thoughtful as to trying to do something to clear the board to be distanced enough to try to do something in his new position. I thought his apology was as neutral as possible and don’t think he deserves much criticism for it. He was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t. He chose to be damned by doing it. Sure he was correct in some of his posts — but he was a foolish reactionary in others. It’s hard to say if he did right or wrong.
Infidel says
As a state senator, he’d have security, and other thing I wonder is whether he’s a gun owner. If he is, then he’s even safer

January 6 was the most curious “insurrection” in history, since after 11 months, not one of the ‘uninvited guests’ has been charged with insurrection or sedition … not one.
Some ‘insurrection’.
It’s not just an unforgiveable calumny to call the ‘guests’ ‘Insurrectionists’, it’s also a BIG LIE.
What happened on Jan. 6 was just a sit-in.

I support and agree with everything I read on Jihad Watch, but today I read something that left me puzzled. In the article on Edward Durr, the author writes about the AP report of Durr’s “support of former President Donald Trump’s baseless claims about election fraud.” Then the writer comments, “One wonders if AP has heard of the Arizona election audit,” as though the audit somehow confirmed Trump’s claims. But that audit (by the “Cyber Ninjas”) confirmed that Biden won Arizona.
Am I missing something here?
Wellington says
That Arizona audit also confirmed that some 70,000 counted votes were bogus but the MSM only went with the some 300 more votes registered for Biden that were legitimate.

You believe the gateway pundit about anything?
Wellington says
Well, Rarely, I guess I could ask you if you believe anything at Jihad Watch or Climate Depot or Red State News or…or… or….
Conservative outlets (including JW) are regularly described by the MSM and so-called fact-checkers and their ilk as horribly biased, just terrible sites. JW itself is described by Wikipedia as “an anti-Muslim conspiracy blog,” which is a flat out lie.
If you wish to accept what the Left puts out as truth and what conservatives put out as propaganda, that is your right, but it is very Leftist of you to think such.
Tell me, would you be just as incredulous of CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, ABC, NBC and CBS, all very Left-leaning and regularly getting things wrong (e.g., all named above bought into the Russian collusion hoax by the 2016 Trump campaign)? And if you would, then where exactly do you get your information? Your turn if you care.
James Lincoln says
Rarely,
Here is the CEO of Cyber Ninjas clarifying comments he had made regarding the Maricopa County forensic audit.
My transcript of CEO Doug Logan being interviewed by OAN’s Christina Bobb:
OAN: The media is saying that your report confirms that Joe Biden won Arizona. Is that a true statement?
CEO: No, but that’s not really what our audit was about. Our audit was about advising legislative reform in ensuring we have integrity in our elections going forward.
OAN: If I understand the report correctly it shows if you count all of the ballots – including what could potentially be fraudulent ballots – then the result is somewhat close to what the county certified. However you also listed a number of areas which you think showed possible fraud.
CEO: That is correct. And the attorney general really needs to drill into those issues and to put together a report figuring out why they are or are not a concern.
OAN: Particularly you had 23,000 mail-in ballots that you had concerns about. Can you explain that.
CEO: Correct. There were 23,344 mail-in ballots that were mailed to someone’s prior address. They had moved out of that location and yet they were returned as mail-in ballots.
OAN: And that’s more than twice the margin of victory.
CEO: Correct.
OAN: So it’s fair to say that the result could have been changed.
CEO: There’s a possibility that the results changed.

You’re missing Everything, lol, the AZ audit proved the election fraud there and President Trump was correct! You’re just parroting the media lies, dufus!
Rarely says
OK. Let’s say there were 23,344 fraudulent votes. Try this for a conspiracy theory — they were collected, marked and sent in by the right and not the left so Trump actually lost AZ by 23,344 more votes than previously claimed. Stupid? Of course but to prove a claim like that being made there has to be a smoking gun. Presumably the 23,344 fraudulent votes were from all over the state. What a tremendous organization would be required to handle getting them all on the same page and everyone connected had to keep their mouths shut. It’s just too much of a stretch.
