As I noted here, since Muhammad prescribed death for those who leave Islam (cf. Bukhari 9.84.57), apostasy is a very serious offense that can only be outweighed by an even greater good deed. And there is no deed greater than jihad: a hadith has a man asking Muhammad, “Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward).” Muhammad replied, “I do not find such a deed.” (Bukhari 56.4.2785) If Swealmeen was going through a time of personal crisis and decided to return to Islam, he would have needed to expiate his great sin of apostasy.
“Extremists ‘may have groomed Liverpool bomber to atone for changing religion,'” by Jonathan Coles, Mirror, November 17, 2021:
The Liverpool hospital bomber may have been convinced by radical Islamists to carry out the terror attack to atone for his conversion to Christianity, it is claimed.
Emad Al Swealmeen, 32, formally switched faiths in 2017 at a cathedral less than a mile from where he died on Poppy Day.
It claimed that counter-terror police are now probing whether extremists used his conversion to groom the suspect – also known as Enzo Almeni – but warned answers could take weeks.
A source is reported as saying: “Investigators are considering if fundamentalist preyed on the bomber’s sense of guilt after converting to Christianity and that the only way he could seek forgiveness was to become a suicide bomber.”
Investigators believed it is highly unlikely that Al Swealmeen was not helped in making the bomb or planning the attack, the insider added to i.
Police are currently concentrating on the bomber’s rented flat in Rutland Avenue, Liverpool, by Sefton Park.
MPs on Tuesday suggested that triacetone triperoxide – known as TATP or “Mother of Satan” – was the explosive substance used.
TATP was used in the 2015 Paris attacks, the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017 and the failed Parsons Green Underground attack the same year. Video of the Liverpool blast suggests that the detonator exploded but that the main device failed to trigger….
Home Office Minister Damian Hinds said on a visit to Liverpool there was no evidence of a “terrorist cell” in the city.
Four men aged 20, 21, 26 and 29 arrested under terrorism laws in the Kensington area of Liverpool have now been released.
Mr Hinds said: “There’s nobody else being sought at the moment by police. That doesn’t mean there couldn’t be, further down the line.”…
Leonard Dunnet says
It doesn’t alter the fact that Muslims who convert are probably more dangerous than rank and file Muslims and can’t be trusted.

Leonard Dunnet says: “Muslims who convert are probably more dangerous”.
That is a speculation. There are many notable examples of ex-Muslims who are working night and day to help Muslims see the absurdity of this death cult and leave it.
The psychological agony of Emad Al Swealmeen is unknown, but I think Robert Spencer has the most probable explanation … namely, that Swealmeen had feelings of guilt about leaving Islam. Jihad-suicide was his way to end his inner torment.
Many former Muslims do not look back to this Death Cult, but their distaste for Islam only increases in measure with their knowledge of its numerous absurdities and very immoral practices.
Al-Swealmeen seems to have been a non-intellectual who didn’t read about these intellectual problems in Islam … problems that cause many thinking Muslims to turn away.
You don’t have to be intellectual to be a Muslim. You just need hatred for the kafir and you are motivated to conduct jihad against them.

Muslims using this as a smoke screens
mortimer says
Al-Swealmeen may have been used by a jihad cell group to attack the Remembrance Day service, and his ambiguous religious history would possibly be an element to disguise the identities of the hidden plotters.
Michael Copeland says
The bomber “may have been convinced by radical Islamists”.
Can Jonathan Coles, Mirror, explain how these “radical Islamists” differ from observant muslims?
revereridesagain says
Not if he wants to keep his job, he can’t.
Meanwhile, Emad by performing jihad not only gets forgiven for his apostasy, presumably he gets his 72 renewable virgin hookers. Or, since he failed the “kill” portion of “kill and be killed”, that will be halved to 36.
mortimer says
Michael Copeland is over-simplifying the classes of Muslims. ‘Radical’ Muslims are those who are ‘ALTOGETHER’ Muslims. They are ready to die in jihad, but most Muslims are shallower than that. They do not want to hear about jihad. The ‘observant’ Muslims who attend the mosques want to pray for the most part. The mosque attendees are about 15% of Muslims. The jihadist are a fraction of one percent of Muslims. You can find the answers to your questions in opinion polls and surveys. You have to dig a bit. Most Muslims are against Islamic terrorism and find it embarrassing. Most Muslims are not very deep Muslims, and 35% are secret apostates.

So you think that Muslims not eager to murder Infidels are “shallow”? Good grief…
Mike says
He could have taken a pragmatic approach to the conversion at first, but he didn’t need it to blast “Mother of Satan.” I think it’s a deeper story.
Michael Copeland says
How about investigators considering Islam’s authorised deception?
Have they even heard of it?
mortimer says
The investigator who realized Al Swealmeen was feeling guilty is someone who ‘gets it’. He is well informed about Islam and no doubt is fully aware of taqiyya.
Infidel says
That was really humane. Instead of directly murdering Swealmeen for apostasy, they gave him the chance to blow himself up, thereby letting him choose how painful his death would be
mortimer says
Someone provided Al Swealmeen with the bomb. We don’t know how they convinced him. Al Swealmeen was no doubt feeling depressed and this was a way out of his emotional pain.
Al Swealmeen may have welcomed this option to go to paradise.
gravenimage says
Lots of people get depressed. Although I am generally an optimistic person, I have had periods in my life when I have been terribly depressed. Never wanted to blow myself up while murdering other people, though.

UK: Investigators considering if jihad recruiter preyed on Liverpool bomber’s guilt for converting to Christianity
…………….
Grimly probably so…
