British authorities are whistling in the dark if they think Feras al-Jayoosi is not reflecting what is common opinion among Muslims in the UK. But of course, that ship sailed long ago.
“Man who wore Hamas T-shirt in Golders Green admits terrorism offences,” PA Media, November 12, 2021:
A man who wore T-shirts supporting banned Palestinian groups in Golders Green has admitted terrorism offences.
Feras al-Jayoosi, 34, pleaded guilty to four counts of wearing an article supporting a proscribed organisation at Westminster magistrates court on Friday.
The charges relate to him wearing T-shirts supporting the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of Hamas – and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Both groups are proscribed as terrorist organisations in the UK….
He released Jayoosi, who the court heard has been diagnosed with autism, on conditional bail.
Michael Copeland says
What is not mentioned in the piece is that Golders Green in London is known for being a very Jewish area. The T-shirt was thus particularly provocative, autism or no autism.
Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY) says
Michael C., Did you read the article? The sub-headline says: “Feras al-Jayoosi wore shirts supporting banned Palestinian groups ***in area of London with large Jewish population*** [emphasis added’]” And the article itself says “Golders Green – an area of north London with a large Jewish population –”.
What kind of reporting is this? An article that is all about the appearance of a certain shirt(s?), without showing a picture of it/them. This is like information-niggardly journalism that refers to “the n-word” without informing the reader what this n-word is.
Giacomo Latta says
When was the last time you took a picture in a courtroom?

Autism, eh? At least they were specific about the “mental health issues” this time.
If we showed up in Golders Green wearing JihadWatch t-shirts I wonder how long it would take us to get arrested for “wearing an article supporting a proscribed organisation”. (Brits spell things funny.)

Autism doesn’t usually produce violence, but autism + jihadism is a recipe for violence, because JIHAD is violence directed by Muslims against the dirty kufaar ‘for the sake of Allah’.
It is JIHADISM that made Feras al-Jayoosi violent, not autism. If Feras al-Jayoosi had been a Buddhist, he would not have wished to conduct jihad.

So true, Mortimer.

Wearing terrorism adverts for the magistrate is this jihadist’s equivalent of ‘LET’S GO BRANDON’.
The magistrate is sure to be seriously underwhelmed. What is this young man thinking?
In the same way that Nazism and Bolshevism are ‘not a disease’, Islam is also ‘not a disease’.
Those ideologies are ‘OVERVALUED IDEATIONS’ in the view of psychiatry. The person who acts like Mohammed or Hitler may not actually be clinically insane, but he will adopt the behaviors and actions of someone who is insane, namely, the madman Mohammed and the madman Hitler.
Siddi Nasrani says
I used to use the word madman for Hitler but after doing a lot of home work about him, I came to understand that a person who is mad does not know that they are mad & needs to in a secure hospital, whereas Hitler & Mohammed are EVIL people taking delight in murdering innocent people in all manner of painful deaths>
